Love the channel Geebz!!! This takes me back to the Mack Dawg snowboard films of the 90's. You should check out Hum's latest release "Inlet". Came out in the summer of 2020. Crushingly heavy, and very powerful. They lost their drummer about a year after it's release. The song "The Summoning" is a killer.

Thank you for finally listening to HUM. One of my all time favorites from the era. Deftones have mentioned them among their influences for sound style.
Over time, these guys have become my favorite band. This album was a milestone of my teenage years and it just never really left my orbit. The follow-up, "Downward is Heavenward" is decent but the newest one, Inlet, released in 2020 after a 22 year hiatus, is a flawless masterpiece of an album. I HIGHLY recommend the track "Shapeshifter." There's so much going on in that song and no matter how many times I listen to it, I get goosebumps. A perfect, beautiful track.
OMG. wooooow. i cannot believe i missed this AND sunny day! i bet there are some others i missed too! can’t wait to go back and see what else youtube didn’t notify me on! what a total jam.. how exciting to see this on the channel!
Heck yes! My band use to cover this in 04-05. Those who didn't know it, thought it was the best song we'd written. Those that knew it were super stoked and always asked us to play it. We weren't around long, but I feared of becoming one of those bands that were known just for a cover and started to refuse to play it.
When I saw this I knew you'd dig it. Hum is one of my favorite 90s bands. Pretty much everything they've done you'll like. This one really takes me back to my youth ... cruising around with my girlfriend in a '63 Corvair with this CD playing. Good times. I miss that car (don't miss the girl though, she was psycho).
When they were live on Conan in 95 the singer was using an Orange amp and the other guitar player was using a hi-watt. Just about as different as you can get. AWESOME guitar sound on this record.
This is why a combo of a single coil guitar with a humbucker equipped (in this case a les paul and a modded strat) is so good at creating that wall of sound. Take that to the next level with panning completely different guitar sounds panned left and right makes this kind of progression so much more powerful. Smashing Pumpkins did this a lot too, it really expands the sound and makes it feel huge.
I really liked Hum - growing up. I really like Beavis and Butthead's response to it. After the intro sustain, they say something like, "you know what was cool about it, it's over."
Excellent choice. Check out The Pod if you liked this one. That's their best, in my opinion. If you want to head back to stoner rock, check out Demon Cleaner by Kyuss. Thanks for the great video.

Of course Seven has killer bass but Mendels work on In Circles is the defining feature of that track. Next time.
@@bezdekdelatte No worries, both killer songs
There’s just really nothing comparable to this song. Fell in love with it the second I heard the opening chords back in 1995 and one of my favorite things to play on guitar.
That break down is just driving, I've always loved it.
Found out these guys are from Illinois the other day. I was so stoked. Got the recommendation from the Deftones sub. I get Weezer or cake vibes from the vocals and Smashing Pumpkins(aso Illinois) from the drums and guitars.
Keep passing this song on!
My first rock concert; Hum, Toadies, Bush. This song always brings me back to that night.
Yes! Love Hum. Their 2020 album was amazing as well
You should do "Afternoon with the Axolotls", that is a great track, not standard verse-chorus-verse
Thank you for reacting to Hum! They’re my favourite band, super talented and underrated. My favourite song of theirs is If You Are to Bloom, there’s a lot going on in it and it would make a great reaction.
Absolutely. As if the music isn’t amazing enough, the lyrics and story behind the song.. good lord don’t get me started.
Lost to the ages, Hum.
I never lost them thankfully.
Thanks for hitting a fav of mine!
I'm an OG fan of theirs, I saw them live in Buffalo NY during their tour for Downward is Heavenward (Amazing underrated album) and it was one of their last shows before the big accident that destroyed their gear and broke the band up. Glad they returned recently even if they lost a little of the magic. They are a very influential band to the musicians that found them back when.
Really underrated band with some great music. I caught them live in like 2014 or 2015 at riot fest in Chicago and they were great live as well. Two of my favorite songs are
Afternoon with the axolotls
Isle of the cheetah
I’d also recommend you listen to “Isle of the cheetah” one of my favorite songs ever, and I consider it their Magnum Opus.
When the first big power chord hits… goosebumps!!
Subscribed just for this song alone. Been loving some other videos but Hum is such a great band and not many people know of them
the vocals and acoustic in the beginning remind me a bit of early midwest emo / 2000s alternative. very ahead of its time. the loud guitar parts definitely sound like Smashing Pumpkins Siamese Dream. great underrated music that's finally getting some recognition. they were a big influence on Deftones apparently
Hums last album of the 90s was amazing and the one they just released recently was a fitting swan song before the drummer died
Such a coincidence seeing this video today haha, just started listening to Hum and Whirr a few days ago, Stars and Ease have been on repeat for me
Geebz is also my musical doppelgänger. I have opened up old songs to learn on guitar quite a few times only to see Geebie post a reaction randomly the next day. So awesome when the “stars” align!!
Almost the same, I learned about Hum through a guitar cover on youtube a few days ago.
AWESOME! Hum rules!
One of my FAV bands of all time!!!!
Dude. Thank you!! Wait till you hear something from their 3rd album Downward is Heavenward.
My favorite band ever....and they were seriously awesome to talk to. I miss Bryan. He loved talking shop, we actually talked for at least 15 minutes just about how 6/8 is so fun to play.
Love this choice! Brings back good memories, saw them back in '95 at Lallapolooza on the second stage. Great live band w/ great energy. 🤘
When they were live on Conan in 95 the singer was using an Orange amp and the other guitar player was using a hi-watt. Just about as different as you can get. AWESOME guitar sound on this record.
Guess you need to do some Sunny Day Real Estate or Swervedriver now?
One of the most overlooked band from the 90s ! This album is a classic. Big influence on Deftones' white pony (guitar tone wise).
WHOA I never thought I’d see anyone mention this tune
Cannot wait to watch!!!
Never heard this band before but impressed so far .
Demon Cleaner! (also covered by tool, btw)
I asked for this one a whole ass year ago thank you geebz.
Wow does this ever take me back to the grungy 90’s garage days! Totally forgot about HUM. Love the channel✌️
So glad you did HUM! I've loved them since 1995. One of my favorite all time bands. Lots more to check out, if you like.
Hum is top tier, absolutely incredible writers and instrumentalists 🖤
This is why I love your channel Geebz! You react to the best music and are a great host, cheers!
Please do Waves by HUM! It's such a great one!
Unbelievable song. Forgotten.
Alright.... SO apparently today was my day..... HUM and Smashing Pumpkins in the same day for reactions. This Album is legendary. then they had a follow up which was good Then split up for almost 20 years in 2020 they reunited and released an awesome album "Inlet" and sadly the Drummer passed as they were preparing to tour.. Freaking awesome
From the 3rd album ua-cam.com/video/ApTCdPNx910/v-deo.html this track has it all space rock amazing intro, acoustic and electric gutairs distortion. Lyrics that make no sense..,. Heaven lol
Hum!!! Yes. Great choice. Please listen to their newest album, Inlet. First one in over 20 years out of nowhere and may be their best.
Pewter, Why I Like The Robins or Afternoon With The Axolotls from Hum. If you like the more ambient rock definitely check out Afternoon with the Axolotls.
Hum is one of those bands that should've been a way bigger than they were on their talent.
On top of being an incredible band across the board (arguably my favorite from that decade) I love that when you look at them they literally look like normal dudes that just play in a band. I love that they don’t feel the need to look a certain way to play the music they play.
OMG!!!! No one remembers or reviews this tune. Man, what a great song!!!!
Check out them playing this live on MTV 120 minutes back in the day. Awesome!!!
That was a crushing performance. Great show, great band, great song.
HUM was around before shoegaze and space rock became a thing.
The grandfathers of the future genres.
They always remained under the radar.
Would love to see you react to A Perfect Circle "The Noose"!
I remember hearing this track on a sampler CD way back. Immediately fell in to it. What a fun trip it is.
Hum is such an Underrated 90's band, but in my honest opinion I think their 2020 album "Inlet" is their best work.
Inlet was such a fantastic comeback album
@@timk8499 absolutely
I love this song. I have a lot of fond memories of stargazing with this song in the background.
If u like hum check out hopesfall and their arbiter album. Produced by the hum guy. Hopesfall might b the most underrated band of all time
Was wondering if anyone was gonna mention Hopesfall. Glad we finally got Hum but I only really got into them retrospectively cause Hopesfall are my fav band ever. Would be great to see something from Arbiter... I still remember how I felt when they dropped "HA Wallace Space Academy" after all those years away 🥲
Whoa! Wasn’t expecting this one.
Saw these guys on the tour for this album and they were AMAZING.
the best band of all time been saying this since 1995
HUM is one of the best bands I’ve ever seen live. I wish I could have seen them again. Rip Bryan.
