this is the kind of song that actually makes me want to grow old, have my mundane little love life with a partner i love more than anything, and have those weird little old lady things like a diner day :) you’ve captured the cutest dynamic ever perfectly!!

Yeah, fifty-something divorced dude here. Single dad who still has two kids at home, plenty of cynicism, no time for dating and frankly watching the likelihood of romance ever again fading away like a distant memory... and this song completely transfixed me. It brought me in and held me still and took me to such a decent place. Beautiful.

It's been a month now (we were together 4 years) and I'm still grieving, and I'm at a point where I do need to remind myself to feel it so it can be healed. I can tell you're a really sweet person by the way.
@@jvmonsterz I don't think that a month is a long time to griev after you lost a beloved person, but everybody is different with that and often it also depends on the situation. This song reminds me so much of my grandparents, they've been together for more than 70 years (since they were 16!) And I've never seen a couple more in love and grateful for each other :') sometimes I tend to be a cynic but honestly true love really does exist
I saw you in Nashville, and I just wanted to thank you for the positive influence you’ve had on my life. Truly one of the main features about why I’m here rn 🥰
Somehow this song gives me a vivid image of a 70 year old couple with loads of grandkids looking down on on their loved ones and reminiscing over how it used to be as their names are said the final time. They lived life together and it’s somehow fitting that they are forgotten together. But maybe just maybe a girl with a guitar will remind the world that sometimes the most simple people live the most beautiful lives.
Coming back to this song 7 months later...and god-damn this still hits right in the feels. Keep up the work Dodie, every song is an artwork.

that repeated lyric "no one is waiting or tapping their foot" in the very beginning made me let out a big held-inside sob; it might sound silly but i've struggled so much with being on time to places (due to severe adhd) and people being ashamed of/angry at me because of it... i so badly want a safe, sweet life where the pressure to be good and perfect has faded, and i can just be loved as i am and happy, and take as much as time as i need.
this song makes that sound possible. thank you dearest dodie

This song feels like when you have one of those wonderfully easy days snuggled in bed eating soup and you just sit and be as you hear the sound of raindrops on the window and you're absolutely happy in the present moment. Captured pure happiness in a song. It is like on every level, like lyrics, story, feelings, so well done. So sweet. 😃

Life often has a way of sending curveballs your way, with work, health, money, family and other stresses too often distracting you from what is special, so it's important to remember that the so-called mundane things in life can sometimes ground us and allow us to appreciate the most important things in life and each other.
For me this could be laughing with my wife like kids about something and nothing, a long hug at the end of a tough day, listening to our 4 year old daughter sing to herself about anything (pure heaven to me) or just enjoying a bike ride, smelling the the morning air as you cycle along the canal to work, passing behind the bakery; the smell of freshly baked bread mixed with the freshly cut grass along the canal, just stopping to enjoy a coffee and a fresh roll. Don't do it now as I've changed jobs and location, but that was the highlight of my day for years :)
Diner day is something that we're definitely going to do though. :)

My Grandfather and late grandmother are Richard and Betty. I never got to meet Betty, but I’m her name sake. This gave me a small look into their life before my dad and before me. Thank you for this wonderful memory.

This reminds me of my favorite love story of my step grand parents. for about 2 years he would save money in secret to buy my grandmother this beautiful church organ (my grandmother was very musical and she plaid beautifully) on his birthday he gave it to her and told her the only thing I want her my birthday is to hear you play your beautiful music for the rest of our lives. She kept that gift till the day she died.
