I live in san diego just shoot a store name if you can ive tried wallmart big 5 squidco amazon you name it...idk the exact laws for sd on a cast net so i havnt ordered one
Nice! I am a firm believer when fishing live bait have one rod out with the live bait on a clicker that you can leave, that way you can still fish plastics on the bait-caster. Love your vids man, I just started a fishing channel I’m curious where your getting the music from. My software only came with a few royalty free tracks.

I spent most of my child hood fishing on piers and sometimes you'll see baitfish all around where you can gap them with treble hooks👌 wish I had a net though haha
I love this place. Shelter island. I never knew the name. More than 30 yrs ago we would catch tons and tons of mackerel of those same rocks. The boat launch was just a little ramp to let your boat in. Try using clear bobber with a tiny glow stick in it. 2 feet of line from bobber with some cut mackerel. You guys brought me back to a place in my childhood that i cherish. And for that i thank you so so much.

Whenever I use this giant hoop net, I always catch the tiniest smelt like 2 inches long. Have you ever tried putting a bait bag in the middle, dropping it down, then rapidly raising the net up to catch the smelt?

Where you get that net from?
Use an umbrella dip net with bread on top to get your bait. The to keep your bait alive get a small bottle of welding oxygen and feed it to the bait with a diffusers. You will use very oxygen n your bait will be alive all day. I also use this method on my boats live well when I buy live bait. Cheers compa. So Cal fishing

Put the net out about 4 feet in front of you call the way to the bottom. Tie your rope to the bar straight up and down to your not. Wet your bread a little and drop your bread little at a time once you see the bait in top eating bread pull up slowly your trying to sneak up on bait. Keep pulling up slowly last foot up pull hard and catch your bait.
It called a ballyhoop net. They originated in the Florida keys. Try putting a small section of pool noodle so it floats . Then leave it out and chum , pull it in . No splash the bait doesn't spook.

Just an FYI your supposed to let the net sit in the water not too deep... toss the bread above the net.... when baitfish congregate above the net you pull it up... it works. smelt are dumb.

Have you ever tried just throwing your line out with only your weight on it and then attaching your hook to a barrel swivel with a snap putting your live bait on it and snap and lock it on your line and let it slide down your line? this will allow your bait to free swim up and down your line at any depth it wants to and you may get more fish.

Keep your bait alive longer by shading your bucket and an occasional water change! It's worth the effort!
Do what I do. I have a small green welding oxygen tank I got at harbor freight. Fill it up at any welding gas supplier for cheap. Use oxygen in stead of a air. It’ll keep the bait alive all day without having to change the water. Keep the air bubbles to a minimum to avoid oxygen waste.

I know the mono netting gets damaged easy so I been looking around and found a nylon hoop net the same size do you think the nylon netting is any good?
all i know the shops here in san diego has the mono ones at barnacle bills and anglers choice. the only nylon one i know of is the square one which is hard to use. i would check those 2 stores. good luck! let me know what you find!

As for hoop net like what we were using. It is NOT greater than 36". Otherwise the shops in San Diego would not have carried them. And FORTUNATELY ours is 32". :)
