- My entire filipino family on my mom's side is well known now on the vlog as i spent the last few years in the Philippines. But my dad's side, the Croatians are just starting to make their appearances. It is Holiday season and the America/Croatian side of my family come flying in from different states. Kids, always wear seatbelts. Accidents happen in seconds even if you are just going out of your garage. Safety first! Always think of your family who will be sad if you get caught in a car accident. Reason why you need to wear your seatbelts on...love for people you love dearly. :-) Just wear it...won't hurt you. It's a serious thing.
Theres 4 of them in a 3 seater back they wouldnt fit if everyone of them wore seatbelts.

Our bonding moment in the family is what we call "Hangkaan" in our province. Hangkaan means talking with each other and spending time together usuallly with coffee and food. :)
I've got a few moments here over the computer and a fresh cup of strong java this morning and I've slipped on headphones with some Nat King Cole Christmas music. I've just drifted miles and miles away from students and daily responsibilities to a place somewhere in the past where family and friends live forever in a golden place.
Before I go any further, I'd like to commend Racsalanga 914 for being the first one to give an accurate answer as to where Tunisia is. It is indeed just west of Libya on the southern shores of the Mediterranean.
Back to our regularly scheduled programming... No matter where we are from, family are the building blocks, sawdust, and glue that make us who we are. They are the first, and most often, strongest influences in who we are. We often look at others and see how they treat their fellow men and women and know that somehow, somewhere a father or mother has laid a foundation of love and strength that lives on today. Family is truly a village, whether the members live close to each other or far away, hearts are always nearby and can't be separated. It's a place of comfort, away from the big bad world, where your loved ones know you and all is well despite your own personal shortcomings.
Whatever the color or origin of family, the fact remains that there's a joy when we get together, eat, laugh, joke, roast, play, and share. The fact that some eat lechon while others feast on turkey doesn't mean there isn't a common experience in it all. Families all seem to have some of the same role players in their ranks... The patriarch, the maternal nurturer, the worker, the planner, the joker, the traveler, the eater, and the quiet ones. There are even more, but suffice it to say, they all have a place at the table.
We, in our immediate family, feel the ache of being far from home this holiday season. We've lived in the middle east for almost six years and have built some wonderful family traditions, but we still miss being with family... whether it's in the warm family room in frigid rural Minnesota or with the other side as we relax on a resort beach on Samal island. It's nice to watch your family and see "how they do it" as they gather for a holiday.
One of the things that you've done with your vlog is bring folks together to watch your family. I think about all of those OFW's out there away from their own families, taking a few minutes each day to get their small dose of fun and family through your vlogs. I see them every day here, making the best of their situations as they gather with the friends they've made here in the UAE. Take that to heart and just smile... okay.
On that note, I've got to get back to a classroom and be some sort of teacher for another couple of days. Thanks for that little bit of family time. Keep on keepin' on...

Tunisia is a North African country bordering the Mediterranean Sea and Sahara Desert. But i do agree that she is a secret agent. Last year, we went to SFO to spend my daughter's birthday. We passed by Sausalito, parked in one of the area overlooking the Golden Bridge. Our car was broken into while my husband was asleep in the backseat since I forgot to lock the door. We live in the hill country of Texas and we can still leave the doors open. They managed to take my daughter's backpack and belongings which were in the front seats. Later we learned from the ranger that several cars were broken into that day. They even attempted to use her credit card at Target, SFO. Be careful Wil. Love watching your family.

Stumbled onto your vlog today . Absolute hilarity ! oddly enough I have Filipino parents but grew up in the USA , and was just in Croatia for a month last Fall on a bike tour. Loved loved loved that country and its people. Split,Postira and Milne are towns I can easily move to . Over a million subs...very impressive ! Cheers man.
