- I have been asked to make this video a number of times. In this how to video I take a JPEG file from Google and bring it into Easel using the Image Trace App. So, no Inkscape and no SVG from Inkscape. This is all done in Easel. I used a 60 degree vbit with a depth of cut at .04 inch including doing a finishing pass. I also show how I painted the vinyl.
My email is: PawPawsWorkShop411@gmail.com
I know this an old but Excellent video Paw Paw is one of the Very Best teachers and Easel for Me is the Best design software people should get over the not free part because Easel is the easiest software I have used and I gladly pay 25 dollars a month. At 25 a month I can carve literally anything I want for 8 years to equal the cost for Aspire. I design and carve signs cutting boards trays basically anything My mind can think of. So I believe Anyone that wants Easy should not discount Easel Simply the Best for Newbies!!
Thank you very much for sharing this information. I still use Easel for many projects. And yes, I use VCarve Pro quite a bit. I still do not have Aspire.
Thanks for your videos. I'm new to X carve and your videos are very easy to understand.
Thank you very much.
Love your videos. Just started working with my x-carve. Thank you very much.
Thank you very much for your comments. Since you are new to the XCarve, I hope you have subscribed to my channel. I have many more projects planned including many that include the XCarve.
Luv the video.thank you
You are so welcome!
great job. thanks for sharing valuable information.
Thank you very much
Thank you!!!
You're welcome!
Question....I was trying to understand using a v-bit but setting the endmill diameter to .01". Is this a method you use to be able to carve fine lines without having the machine thinking it's doing a v-carve?
You can clear coat before cutting/engraving to reduce the paint absorbing in the vinyl.
Yes, that is very important to do to prevent bleeding of the paint.
I heard you mention the 4 free days each month in Easel, I can't figure out how to get them. Could you explain. Thanks so much for all your videos.
72 years old and just getting started.
For a long time Inventables offered four free days of Easel Pro for account holders. Effective July 21, 2020 Inventables ended the four free days for anyone who opens an account after that day. You do get thirty day free trail of Easel Pro and then you would have to purchase Easel Pro if you want to continue to use it.
@@PawPawsWorkShop Thanks for the fast reply. I want to use 30 degree v bit, so I think I will follow your advice for using a vbit on easel without pro.
Super good
Thank you very much
Finding lot information on your videos is a great thing. Very good job you are doing. Respect by me. Interesting and nice program from easel. Can we run it on ubuntu 32bit or is only for 64bit?
I actually not sure if is will run on 32bit. You can contact customer service at Inventables.
Easel is web based so i dont belive it matters 32 or 64 bit....i have vista 32bit and easel works fine....
Ive even accessed easel via my old ipad lol..and it works just slow as hell
ty. nice help
Awesome! I'm glad that it helped you.
you forgot to mention youre using those free sample of laminate flooring as material.
lol, that's not the only material that I use for the coasters. Thank you for reminding me.
Have a cnc 3018 pro GRBL control ...Will easel work with that cnc
Yes, it should work. You will need to calibrate the steps and make the necessary adjustment.
@@PawPawsWorkShop
That sounds good.
I am also trying to use a 3018 to learn a bit about CNC before deciding if I want to get a more expensive machine.
Great video I’m about to purchase the longmill cnc by Sienci labs is Easel free for any cnc? Thanks
If the controller is GRBL you should be able to do it. The basic Easel is Free but not the Pro version.
I don't see anywhere in my Easel that I can upload a file. I only see import svg, gcode, image trace and dfx import. Can someone help?
If you are trying to download a file from easel to you computer, then, go to file. In the drop down menu you will see a download Zip tab. You can download the entire file or selected work pieces.
Is it Free to download but we have to purchase the bits to create gcodes ? I tried , but I couldn't find my own simple (V shape 3.175 , 30 degree) bit 🤔
You can add bits to Easel. I have not really looked at that much but I know it is available.
The Easel I have will only allow an .svg import. I can't import a jpg. I'm trying to figure out where you got tot he import screen.
Have you tried the image trace selection. On the left side of the screen there is a menu, the last icon is for importing files. svg, gcode, dfx, image trace. Give that a try
Any idea of this is compatible with redsails engraver laser?
Thank you. I am not sure but I don't think it will work. Contact the manufacturer.
What size of CNC machine do you have and brand?
how did u upload a jpeg? it only allows svg files on mine
Two ways that I use. First, use Inkscape (free). Import your image and do a bit trace map. Save as a SVG file. Second, in Easel use Image trace. Import your image directly into Easel. If it will not open then most likely there are open segments.
@@PawPawsWorkShop thank you! :) i uploaded the jpeg finally with image trace :)
Awesome!
what web browser are you using?
Jim Frasure. Chrome. From all that I have researched and from my experience Chrome works best with Easel
Thank you, that really helps, none of my browsers did the black and white thing.
Glad it worked.
you have an installer? I can't find him anywhere.
Václav Kostka. What are you asking? I do not understand your question
Ok, I get that you saved a jpg file, but how did you open it in Easel?
I'm glad that you contacted me and that I was able to help you. Good luck with it.
I need help with this also
Could you let me know how you opened the jpg in easel please?
i dont have the fill or outline button
Yes, it is there. Here is how you get to it. Select the object, a drop down window appears. Select the top left "cut". At the bottom you can select to cut a pocket (fill) or to select to cut inside, outside, or on path.
What is your feed rate, plunge rate and depth per pass?
First, thank you for your question. The feed rate is 50 inches per minute, the plunge rate is 9 inches per minute and the depth per pass is .04. The total depth is .06. That will give you on the second pass a .02 cut which is a nice cleanup pass.
