Hey Cas, firstly, thanks for the shout out to me in your last live stream - it brought a tear to my eye as I am so proud of my boy. He is in 14 Platoon and marching out on the 17th. He has had it tough as they were initially locked down for a week as a precaution and then the virus went through regardless. He fortunately didn't get it as he had already had it a t the start of the year. His 3 room mates were pretty sick. He complained about the shit food being brought in from the outside. LOL The whole schedule was messed up from that first day really and it seemed to have put everyone out of step. Then, he unfortunately suffered a shoulder/arm injury after weapons training and he was unable to perform well in the PT sessions. He passed, but only a minimum pass. It really disappointed him as he truly believed that he had a chance of an award in PT. (His fitness leading in was very high). Anyway, he recovered with physio pretty quickly and he is now in his final week and a half of field training. We are so proud that he pushed through and I am certain that he will make a great soldier. He is earmarked for artillery - obviously not what nessisarily floats your boat , but he is quite happy. Cheers. Chris
Thank you! I have passed my assessment day and am waiting for my braces to come off, personally I lost focused for a while. But seeing your videos has giving my confidence to smash the PFA and get back on track. Aussie Aussie Aussie… Oi Oi Oi🇦🇺
Hey Dudders, hope life is on smooth rails and your coffee tastes great life is pretty good and I am glad we have a platform to be able to highlight others achievements and service.
Hey Cas, I just have a question because I am currently unsure of what I want to do with my life, I am currently 14 years old and only this year did I start to really change myself, I am in the Army Cadets but once I leave I want to continue into the Army, I want to go Infantry but I am debating whether to go to ADFA and get a uni degree or enlist instead, this thought has motivated me to work harder with my physical fitness where I have managed to improve from bearly being able to do a pushup, to where I can now do 20 with proper form and near 45 sit ups, I am also working on my running so I can achieve a good time on it. My question is do you have any tips for someone wanting to go Infantry and if you think it is better to go Officer or Enlist.
Hey mate I was sure that I answer this comment but it's not there now at 14 I would say make your mission doing well at English and maths and staying out of trouble time is on your side and stay here and listen but relax young lion outside open comments here I am not in a position to correspond with you nor am I wanting to influence you at your formative age so enjoy the journey and I will be here when your 17... Respect your family and your self and love your country it is a great time to be alive.. Cas
So the school of infantry is at kapooka now ? Sorry it’s been awhile . I was 24 Platoon C coy 1 RTB which was back then Kapyong Platoon , ironically ended up in 3RAR lol , I miss those days . Go Hard Boys and Fight Easy 🍻

Hey Cas, I’ve been continuing my training for transfer from reserve to full time. I tested myself with a BFA in my own time. Push-ups: 50 Sit-ups: 100 2.4km run: 10:33min How would you rate that score for someone wanting to go to infantry? I’m 23 and am going to train harder for even better scores.
Mate that is a good base to turn up to School of Infantry full time and then see what your able to do after the bloody hard yakka training at the IET course, a good start mate
@@inthetrencheswithcas1762 Thanks Cas, I'm going to be putting in the application for transfer this year. Still have some more that I want to improve upon before then.
I'm a recovering gym addict and still 12+ kilos too heavy to be a decent runner. Current 2.4km time is 10m10s. Not flexing here but you're capable of more mate.
I was so lucky that when I Marched into Btn that I was always fit and wasn't a jack digger. I didn't kiss arse but I earned my Sections respect by always completing my PT sessions etc and by learning quickly. God forbid being a substandard digger at Btn level. There's no excuse for it. But it happened more than you'd expect. Especially the new digger who upon completing Singo, thinks he knows everything. Sorry to say that while you might know what a sharpie is doesn't mean the guys are going to trust you with them till they've assessed you as a competent digger. My 2 cents anyway........
Yes and no mate we have combat medics sure but it is normally a course done by other Infantry soldiers as a side gig rather than have CORP's medics trying to keep up with mounted or dismounted Infantry units. I think we need stand alone combat medics dedicated to embedding into our units of the highest fitness as a job description but more often than not we have some excellent CORP's that have gone embedded but it is not the norm. Our medical CORP's is just not big enough or capable enough in the robust nature of frontline representation and rigor except for some real standouts including one of our in particular who was horribly wounded..
I've wanted to join our army for some time now but my kryptonite is situps, I can barely punch a few out before being in pain from my tailbone area. I don't know if I was born with some abnormality or if I am just too weak Cas, have you ever heard of anyone with tailbone pain/problems when doing situps?!
Thanks, Cas, and thanks to those who sacrifice so much to be in the defence for Australia and Aussie's.
Scotty, cheers mate but honestly we do it because we love it so it’s almost like we are selfish lol
What’s your dream job mate?
Thanks mate, you keep reinforcing me to work on my flaws to make a better me. To finish everything I have started.
That’s a great comment Lighty cheers mate sometimes it’s good to know when we hit the market even with a stripped back low edit message..
