Glorp and Glarp are the best demons I've ever seen. Hope they return at some point after their refreshments from the abyss
Just asking in case any other planescape people know, do planes like Ghenna and the Gray Wastes count as the abyss?
yugoloths actually !! so they’re from gehenna . but i still love them
@@Dark_Jargon in a very specific and technical sense, no. But also, maybe in your game, yes.
Devils from Hell are the Lawful Evil fiends. Demons from the Abyss are Chaotic Evil fiends. Yugoloths, the sort of parent species of which mezzoloths are a subsetct, are Neutral Evil, and are from Gehenna.
But in your game, they are whatever you want them to be.
37:00 how many times have Mark and Tom has this convo now? It must be at least five times I’ve heard this 😂 each time it’s Tom: “ohhhh wow!” Mark: “yeah paladins are OP man”. Love you guys! It’s like a bit

@highroller Love you guys, you guy have gotten me though the death if my grandfather and I know you guys probably went read this but thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have been on the UA-cam squad for the last 2 years but have watched all your content. I appreciate all you do. Hugs to you all!!
Thank you
I still love how 74 episodes later, that pillar in the intro still says "Aeoris". I forgot about that and just realized it again and it makes me very happy.
As a regular DM on roll20, I have never seen this site hate someone as much as the HR crew
The prince division has it just as bad. The number of times they begged and threaten, and yelled at the roller is funny.
It's about the same as i'm used to on roll20
@@DLOFT002 and it's generally conner that has it the worst on there.
1:21:25 Trott giving Mark shit about "10 levels of d&d" and understanding how his own abilities work.
1:35:19 Trott, less than 15minutes later. Forgetting Dichromancy yet again, the whole point of his character. Even though he just used it a few turns ago.
I get that Trott was being facetious to begin with about him know what he's doing, and that he was just doing it to wind up Mark, but it's still just funny how quickly he then forgets his own abilities after that teasing.
I am just waiting for them to find someway to attach that crossbow to Sentry.
Yes
At points I really want to see Sentry pull up and be super intimidating by acting on full auto pilot using the matrix and does the following "*Closes face shield* *enlarges* I am Sentinel Prime, Savior of the Guardian race! ...(whatever else applies in the moment)". I really want to see this or something close to this. She should use her mask more for dramatic effect which would be really cool.
Just in case Mark or one of the others sees this: in Roll20, shift+left click will center everyone on your ping. This is a quick way to help everyone find the starting spot when moving to a new map.
I would have pushed back on that surrender suggestion. Once Sentry used her action to put down her weapons and stopped fighting she had surrendered, and had completed the suggested activity. "If the suggested activity can be completed in a shorter time, the spell ends when the subject finishes what it was asked to do." I got caught on this one before.
I think the argument needs to be made for certain. I don't entirely buy the one time activity as a stipulation. In this case if you take it back then you haven't really surrendered.
So there is definently something gamey about that kind of play. And if you make it something you do on your next turn it might as well have been Command.
That being said the Suggestion should have at least been worded better. Mark could have stipulated behaviour a bit better than that.
Marc, you can link the tokens directly to the character sheets. make sure the tokens are set the way you want them then open the corresponding character sheet. click on the edit tab in the top right, click on the character token so the 3 colored circles appear then on the character sheet click on "use selected token" in the default token square. once that is done you can just drag and drop the token from the character journal. you need to redo this process any time you make a change to the token.
I thought I had. I'll try again but pretty sure I already did this.
Nova: Hadar is dangourus!
Kim: Thank you Hadar.
“Your aura has an effect that activates when you enter your rage, and you can activate the effect again on each of your turns as a bonus action” Aila’s Storm aura would have gone off against bastard alien when she activated rage, not a huge deal though.
3 natural 20s in a row is something like... 1 in 8,000
“Never tell me the odds.” Is what I’m sure Mark would tell you.
Exactly as common as any other possible sequence of 3 dice rolls in a row! Shocking.
“Fully armed and operational dungeon master” is probably the nerdiest thing I have ever laughed at.
I was running a game for my nephews and their friends, I rolled 11 crits. the very next night my eldest nephew ran a game for the same group and as a player I didn't roll higher than a 15.
The dicegods work in mysterious ways.
“Ghost noises” :o
2:19:20 we've had this debate and made this mistake before, but if you check carefully the aura DOES activate when you activate rage.
I believe she also has Storm Soul, so she gets the effects when she isn’t raging
Just when I finished catching up there's a new episode, yay!
omg this episode was literally getting me all kinds of mad because of those ri-goddamn-diculous rolls, but they all survived. phew!
Love this series and this cast so much! Thanks for plugging along in the midst of all the craziness. It's great to have an escape
This episode is a perfect example of why I despise electronically generated randomness
Trott needs a Elemental Adept card to remind himself
I swear Tom asks about Paladins being able to use multiple spell slots per turn every few episodes like its a new revelation lol (^.^) I've been binge watching this for the last month or so so everything is very fresh in my mind.
That's also the effect of binge watching versus the weekly gaps that the players have to go through.
I think it's just a doubt in his mind that persists. He believes it to be OP so he grapples with reconciling that with what the rules actually say.
@@MorinehtarTheBlue yes… of course, like I said, since I watched them so close together. Hoped that would help my credibility but 🤷🏿♂️
Either way, now that I’ve been up to date watching weekly for around 2 years, I can say he’s finally been able to accept the OPness of divine smites lol
@@dadriangreen6179 It's got nothing to do with credibility. I was pointing out the fact that there is a distinct advantage in memory of you compared to him in this regard.
@@MorinehtarTheBlue ... I guess thanks for pointing that out? You must be the only person who thinks I'm trying to be superior to Tom and not trying to get a laugh with the community. Gold star for you.
Hundred percent wrong on the shield ruling. The example given in the PHB is Wizard A casts fireball at Wizard B. Wizard B uses it's reaction to counterspell Wizard A. It very explicitly states that Wizard A can use their reaction to counterspell Wizard B's counterspell, and the fireball goes off. Reactions don't take place during your turn. Think of it as like a card game. The stack when you start counter spelling becomes its own thing
I love how Sentry's full name on roll20 is Sentry Sentry
That trilling sound Mark makes reminds me of the Jerboahs in Ark! Cute.
Man, fiends are just unfair, they can hire out as mercenaries wherever and never have to worry about dying on the job. You'd think mortal mercenaries would unionize or something
Light in DnD: There is a wall of darkness past this point and you cant see the other light past it.
Reality: You can see everything in the cave because light travels and reflects endlessly until it diffuses.
I wonder if zax has a ship? It would be cool that they would have a space ship on aerois they would be un matched lol.
Mark Casually leaves out a key point on how the party can de-spell a charm effect removing one of the most powerful players from combat. I know nothing is done intentionally to screw them over but sometimes small oversights really ruin potential plays.
its not up to the DM to explain how to break/interrupt enemy spell effects. If the player characters havent encountered such magic then it's up to them to experiment and speculate how to deal with it. And if they have encountered such magic but they the player don't remember, that usually requires asking and rolling a history/arcana check, which none of them did.
They also had no way to break it since it was a 7th level spell and none of them could dispel that high, so i don't think any potential plays were ruined. In fact they were just lucky Sentry was targeted by the wall of fire.
@@gnadlaftehgary4257 yeah but Mark will also be all no it doesn't work that way if someone suggests it. They really have to push to use the rules to their benefit at times
He used suggestion though, even at higher level this spell effect on sentry should of ended as soon as she surrendered coz he completed the suggestion. Not saying either side is too blame, it was just an extension that was over looked in the time
@@gnadlaftehgary4257 It's not, but it is up to the DM to explain how the spell works. And he left out a very important piece of the description for Suggestion: "If the suggested activity can be completed in a shorter time, the spell ends when the subject finishes what it was asked to do."
Dropping your weapons and surrendering only takes a few seconds (probably the equivalent of one round). So Sentry would have missed one round dropping her weapons and surrendering, but that would have been the end of the spell because she complied with the suggestion.
It wasn't a big deal in the end, but I hope if they run into Suggestion again it is explained and used properly.
@@gnadlaftehgary4257 Can't dispel that high? Sorry that's BS unless you just don't know how dispel works. If you can't hit the level there is an Arcana check, DC 17.
Yesss! i’ve been waiting all day for this!
What is your profile pic from? It’s sitting right on the edge of my memory
These are the most polite Villain grunts I've ever met, absolutely golden 👌

I couldn’t habe more admiration for Trott than I already do. His ads are awesome
1:27:00 "Not a healer" merch plz, maybe after covid....
Ye
I love this stream so much! Great world building by Mark and beautifully crafted joint story-tellingby the group.
That said... I wish mark would remember about concentration on his spells as much as he remembers it for his players. Suggestion and cloudkill are both concentration dude!
@@matthewward1346 Mass suggestion isn't.
@@simonthedevil452 True, I thought it was a suggestion spell because only one person was affected, but it was just that the rest made their saves. That's pretty bonkers though... why would suggestion on one person be concentration and the more powerful, longer lasting spell not be?
@@matthewward1346 Mass suggestion can be upcast for some incredible lengths (up to a year and a day). So basically because sleeping would break Concentration and screw up those long durations you get from the upcast.
Pretty weird for a mechanical fidelity issue to override the world's consistent internal logic though.
Imagine one of the pc's is gone, and Mark accidentally gets their character killed
Seen it enough times that I don't really trust "loaning out" PCs like that. It's a little harder to deal with when your game is also s show though.
In the same way I don't like Mark's Aila as he is quite clearly only going through the motions.
Can we get some wings of Ishtar (if that’s spelled correctly) merch I think it would be very cool
I hope we get to see more Salty Tom today.
I’ve watched this series, forgot about it, found it, and rewatched it, I love u guys, also u guys make me wanna start playing
I appreciate mark actually using reckless cause katie hardly ever does. I get the whole tactical argument but barbarians aren’t tactical even from a rp standpoint aila wouldn’t be very tactical in combat. Just use reckless and if you get low tell tom to do his job and heal for once lmao.
Don't know if anyone has mentioned it but the roper restrains people not just grappled and they also have disadvantage on strength checks and saving throws
All balls! Missed that. Oh well. Next time, gadget!
As a player and a fellow DM I have to say yes, yes the Rol20 dice program favors the DM for some reason.
Yes she can do it on the same turn. It says when you rage and as a bonus action on subsequent turns
Mark’s first words as a baby:
“So you watch as”
“As it does so”
True story
The phrase I most notice is "and stuff like that"
Yo spellcasters are beating the crap out of the boss, lets go.
@@o.d.d.792 Assuming I've not tweaked HP or anything else, of course. ;)
I think that in this case Mark is wrong about how suggestion works; it's a letter of the law spell, not intention. Surrendering is something you can actively do, therefore just laying down your weapons and saying 'I surrender' would break the suggestion. Zaxs'Ravos (?) should have specified she lie down and try to find a good day's rest if he wanted her to do nothing.
Holy crap, how many 20s was that this game???
Generic awesome comment to increase UA-cam analytics, now with more keywords like really good, fantastic video.
Sidenote:

Lucia would killed the crystal worm if he'd remembered his dichromancy.
Our most recent game had lots of natural 20s too
Mark forgetting to roll Ayla's initiative advantage
Not rolling advantage on strength checks and saves from rage
Advantage on dex saves from danger sense
Loved coming back at the end for Tom vape cam. lol
Yooooo. Crystalline variants of stone monsters. Lit
It doesn't bother me how many rulings Mark gets wrong, it only bothers me how adamant he is about being right about them lol
I'm trying to figure out what super version of Suggestion the guy is using to target everyone, and not end after the suggestion has been met. Mass Suggestion would do it, but it still would have ended after Sentry dropped her weapon and surrendered. She'd have lost her turn, but not her next turn.
The D-20 app is clearly buggy, the random number generation is severely faulted.
The literal SECOND I saw that elbow I knew it was the boy Durnan
Thanks HR, now they will tweak the roller, cool!
Wow, i liked Nova's time hack. That was awesome.
Yagotta Kidding, same
hey, is tiangong named after the thing from chinese folklore, tiangou, a big black dog said to eat the sun during an eclipse,
i think i just busted what tinagong's avatar may look like, as well as eating a red sun (BBEG) is the sword to destroy BBEG, that's why starbane has one,
Are you proud, mark senpai?
@@o.d.d.792 thats a good point. I haven't watched the session zeroes, is it on there?
I named Tiangong, and it's named after the first Chinese space station. Literally translates as 'Heavenly Palace.' - Kim
Quill could do with taking mass cure wounds and that spell which maximises healing
He could but that’s 5th level and he seems to save those for other things and it would mean he was healing and that’s just not the cleric he is. . Also it’s beacon of hope your thinking about.
See, I would have dropped my weapons as a free action, said "I surrender" out loud as another free action, and then, as far as I'm concerned, I've fulfilled the terms of the suggestion and am free to act as I see fit.
I was excited because Suggestion is a concentration spell and it would've ended when he attempted to cast his Wall of Fire! buuuuut just kidding; Mass Suggestion is NOT a concentration spell. That's pretty OP. Up to TWELVE creatures for 24 hours, but can be extended to 10 days, 30 days, or 1 YEAR!?!?!
I like how Mark was doing so well, that they revoked his online dice privileges
To be fair he asked them to do it
Trott should just make a character image for each person and have it up at the start, revealing each person as Mark introduces them
They already have art for each character. It's the portraits that are cycled through in the center of the screen when there isn't a battle map.
So when both Mark and Tom, play Aila they use reckless attack, when Katie doesn't. And it feels especially rude to use the reckless attack, and then go oh the monster then attacks Aila because it has advantage. Its almost like that's why she never uses it.
She uses it tactically when she chooses to. Tom and Mark generally thing it's cool and over use it.
Though I do agree that it feels like Mark is setting up his monsters for advantage with it. So not cool at all.
I mean, Aila has resistance to most of the enemies attacks and more hit points than anyone else. Attacks against her are less impactful than attacks against anyone else. I'm pretty sure that at this point, Aila has literally never gone down in a real combat, because she never tries to draw aggro, which is what a barbarian with 18 con should be doing. It's meant to tempt monsters to attack the sponge with hundreds of hit points, instead of the 12 ac sorcerer.
Reckless is a huge point of being a barbarian…
16:00 well hopefully the rest of the game goes easier. Good to see ever Dungeon master has their days, but a great dungeon master can keep going !!
2:15:05
I think Mark's bad day has finally turned around ....or is it worse ? Who knows
I’ve just realised that Lucius reminds me of an awakener
With the atmosphere generator, couldn't they have just turned it off got to the ship, wait for anyone who needs air to die, figure a way to go back and just walk through? Maybe it wouldn't have been possible but would've been cool to try.
and that's why the dm rolls in secret, most of the time to protect players from bad luck
It could just as easily happen for the players' benefit, though. But when that happens it's "cool".
Dun duns at 8:28
Sentry enlarging to surrender bigger.
gets 10Nat20's in a row "Ok, ok, ok , im done" lol
Can you tell whos my favorite pc
Nova?
3v5 u got him it's the balance of the game
QUILL: PRAYER OF HEALING
Mark, what is the point of lucius' glove?
He hasn't had any chance to use it, seems a bit of a dud magic item.
1.29.45 fucking finally!
Lots of chances to use it, just needs to remember to use it. ;) I changed it so he can combo his Chromatic Control and the Item a while ago.
@@SherlockHulmes he can use chromatic control and absorb the spell all as part of one reaction? And it also charges his dichromancy damage? And he doesn't need to guess what level the spell is being cast at to counter it, like you do with counterspell? Seems like Trott should be abusing the hell out of that, even if it risks exhausting him. The first two levels of exhaustion aren't that bad anyway, and that's assuming he fails the Con save.
The really crazy part is, I looked at his character sheet on DnD Beyond (which is why I'm nerding out about this right now) and he has counterspell in his spell list. He has counterspell on steroids wrapped around his arm, for free!*. He literally gets to cancel people's spells, gets a damage boost from doing it, and can do that as much as he likes, assuming he makes the Con saves. It's a good job an item like that didn't go to Tom Hazel, the combat optimiser, because I get the feeling he'd be using it all the time.
Edit: oh I just looked closer and saw Chromatic Control costs 3 sorcery points, and Lucius has a max of 12. Nevermind, my rant was unwarranted.
Just caught up and want to donate but I can't figure out how. Is there like, a link or something?
They stream on twitch, so go donate at highrollers @ twitch
Maaan mark is trying to tpk 🤣🤣 roll 20 is assisting hard rn
these guys just burn spell slots like they will never encounter any boss battles
Thank u guys n gals been needing this
Yoooo. Kim can really sing a lil. Play a Bard!
the quickened spell is because otherwise, you'd always just cast a quickened spell cantrip as your bonus action, expending minimal sorcery points
Been highly intrigued by this whole sequence! ❤️ Also, man, I applaud them for trudging with R20. As a DM I cant stand the site. I ended up running a game with R20’s map, but having cam on dice for rolls. No matter how complex the algorithms, especially eh ones, they just don’t equal real dice. We personally feel that if we get bad rolls (lol ask one of my cousins) we’d rather it be our bad luck, and not bleh algorithms simulating randomness.
I understand not trusting RNGs but it's the transparency and ability to verify that make them a necessary evil for VTTs.
Of which there are a fair number. It's one thing to hate Random Number Generators and another entirely to just hate that particular site.
Though I have to assume your knowledge of Virtual Table Tops is small to nonexistent.
@@MorinehtarTheBlue A bit bizarre of a comment, especially so late. I’m well familiar with them, have used them, and it doesn’t change that myself and many many others simply dislike how a lot of the systems operate. Especially older versions.
There’s simply no arguing that programs, extensive or small as they may be, are not how we define random. They cycle through a set order, even if it’s from a colossal list. I’ve seen virtual rollers that were painfully predictable.
That being said, virtual rolls are certainly *not* “a necessary evil” for virtual, as the High Rollers themselves let players roll with hard dice if they wished and it worked out beautifully for those players who did. Whether their rolls were good or bad.
A group’s players make the game, not the method of rolling and tracking.

Wish one bring back smeek wish two bring back Impy boi
3:11:50 it’s captain blueballs D:
sometimes you just gotta /r1d0 your dice lol
Mad dun duns
Fucksake guys, if you have a torch in a dark room and you're standing in darkness YOU CAN STILL SEE THE TORCH. So Nova could see everyone, thanks to Sentry's matrix.
Also, technically Sentry laid down her weapon and surrendered on the first turn, completing the order, and thus ending the effect.
I dunno why Trott didn't hit Sentry with the vitriolic sphere instead of Nova. Worst case she'd fail and take half damage.
As far as I could tell it was between hitting Nova or Sentry and himself.
PUPPY!!!!
I don't want to be caught up
Semi spoiler ish i guess,
But Mark is really rolling too much nat 20's like, if a player were to roll 20's like that most DM's would have some questions or would at least respond on it. Like, i realise mark has no control over roll20 but what the heck XD
so think they will go back to the table in a couple weeks
Well....
Lmfao this didn't age
Wouldn't Nova not have blight anymore?
Arm
It's on the Warlock spell list so she'd still have it despite her arm being healed.
Suggestion is concentration and ends once they have complied
Zax cast mass suggestion which isn't concentration and specifically says that the suggested course of action can continue throughout the duration, which is 24 hours. It's more a matter of interpretation.
People, remember to hit that LIKE button. Kim, get your peeps to remind people at beginning or end of stream. Gotta get those UA-cam ad dollars.
