At that moment, the tanker should halt operation, despite still fully functional and intact - by Physics. This will ensure very little oil will remain in the ground for making some life-critical medicine in the future - safe from the dirty hands of our foolish, outgoing Western Civilisation. Actually oil tankers are not needed. Countries with oil could just keep their own oil and be energy independent. Never having to be dependent on anyone else for energy. sale something else besides your oil.
And,, so, where do countries without oil get their energy needs? Don't say wind and sun. Ask Europe how much they need petroleum products when they were partially cut off from Russia supplies. As to the countries with oil, how would they pay for the petroleum industry if they didn't sell overseas. Their populations aren't big enough to support a petroleum industry, so they wouldn't have any oil for their citizens.
