    Self taught in our day was that, buy a book, watch others (limited to the people you know or employed) and absorbed the information. Now people watch 10 or more you tube videos, which may be wrong as well, and then have an understanding. We learnt by our mistakes. So self taught is all good.

    Hardly an amatur job Mel. I think you and Becky have done amazing in the Vario. Hopefully you ignore such negative coments. TBH I cant get my head around why they would comment in such a way. Perhaps they long for the return of "waffle on a wednesday" so they can be "troll of the week" I notice they didnt drive down to the barn to show their stupendous woodworking skills. Fluff em, keep making the new van look great and giving us great content. Much respect to you and Becky🙏-Kenny

    Having just rebuilt a caravan, the best packing to use is polystyrene where no structural strength is required (waterproof/ultra-light weight) and the best ceiling covering is foam-backed automotive headliner fabric (super-good acoustics, makes the van very quiet, even outside noises get absorbed). From experience.!

    Thank you, Mel. Nice job on the ceiling! The painted finish looks fantastic. I did something similar in my campervan, but I went with faux leather instead of paint. It turned out pretty slick, forming a vapor barrier that's super easy to wipe clean. Shockingly, it was a breeze compared to the stretch carpet I used in my last campervan.
    By the way, I couldn't help but notice a nifty tool you used in the video-the little attachments for the cordless drill that you used to fit the screw at an angle above the driver window. Could you please tell me where I can buy one?

    Why is top at dangly bits, hair back etc but not put on safety glasses and dust mask as well as hearing protection, if your showing how to safely use a power tool. Some viewers will watch your videos and not take these safety steps to protect themselves. You have an obligation to your viewers to at least show these steps.

    • @SACREDTRAVELLER
      @SACREDTRAVELLER 4 місяці тому +13

      Nope, we don’t. It’s not a how to video, we are sharing our van build here on UA-cam.
      It’s up to people to use their common sense. If they can’t do that they shouldn’t be using any tools at all.
      Stupid people will always be stupid.
      Health and safety has gone ridiculous in recent years due to the stupid people.
      I’ve used power tools for over 15yrs and always been safe, PLUS I’ve been the head health and safety person in a building company for over 20years and never had an issue. You just need to let people do them and you do you (somewhere else) 🙄🥱

    • @gbwildlifeuk8269
      @gbwildlifeuk8269 4 місяці тому +2

      @kinross 24 - sacred traveller is correct this is not a how to video. In addition the points you raise are applicable to the health and safety at work act. The clue is in the title : health and safety at WORK. Neither of these people are at work, it is their hobby. Nor do they employ anyone and consequently the h&s implications do not apply.
      If we take h&s as pedantic as you suggest, we'd get nothing done!

    • @Desmond.TuTu.
      @Desmond.TuTu. 4 місяці тому

      You’re totally missing the point ….. it’s not about sticking to rules and regulations it’s about using common sense to keep you away from harm, you can take easy precautions to lower chance of potential injury and still video …. I personally would not want to see any harm come to Mel or Becky.

    • @SACREDTRAVELLER
      @SACREDTRAVELLER 4 місяці тому +3

      It’s luxurious to us, everyone has different levels of what that means.
      For us it’s luxury because it’s going to have a shower, hot running kitchen tap and a proper dining area etc. The finish may not be luxury to some people, but the materials and items that we are fitting are more expensive than we’ve done before, all thanks to UA-cam for giving Mel an income that can now support our dreams. ❤❤❤
