Yes, very ingenious, a nice combination of themes. You omitted one possibility at the start which is 1 f6 Kh7. Black gets both the h pawns and White has no mating position with the Q alone so this forces him into the line shown. The play from 6:30 onwards is tricky as White not only needs the Q on the h file but with Black forced to move his K away, hence Qh4 Kg6 fails. There are zugzwang positions throughout this puzzle with the Q moves, plus one right at the beginning after 1 f6!
This is a puzzle where it's easy to stop too soon. You find 1 f6 easily and realise that Black is in zugzwang and one of your pawns is likely to promote. But there's firstly the stalemate trap after Kh8 to overcome, and secondly the problem in several lines that if White loses all his other pawns, the lone Queen can't force mate on its own. So really 3 puzzles in one here.
The rule of thumb when attacking the king with the queen for guidance is she should always be in a "knights" position. Meaning if you were a knight you would be attacking the king from the exact pattern of squares your queen has to be away from the king.
Why giveup the rook? Exchange the rook with bishop. Or protect it on h4. Edit: Black might force draw by shuffling King inbetwen g6 and h7 squares. Cover these lines for the puzzle to make sense.
Would do in the next puzzles, I wouldn't want to be longer than it should be. You need to sacrifice the rook in order to get a queen, because the rook can't attack on the diagonal so you can't force black to the first rank. I showed with the queen, with the colors, how black is forced by the queen to arrive on B1
Because I wanted to prove a point where you need a specifical pattern to force black king to the first rank, you cannot just give random checks hoping for the best
@@ChessCrafters-lk4dv Well, all you need to do is mention the 4 possible moves in the same breath rather than 3, rather than omitting one obvious move entirely. The technique is similar after all 4 K moves.
That was good a good puzzle. I like that you don't telegraph the right answers in your questions. But a couple of pauses would have been better, to give me time to hit pause and think about it.
thank you, i would add more pauses in my next ones. I usually encourage the viewers to pause the video if they want to figure it out for themselves and only afterward to resume it
Because the rook can't attack on the diagonal, I kind of explained using the colors when I check with the queen, the red squares are the one that the queen attacks while the green one are available for the enemy king and if you rewatch the video you will see how the queen could force the black king on first rank
Did you managed to find all the correct moves?

I am glad you liked it. I think I overlooked that possibility

Yea, it was a very complex puzzle.

Very nice putting, It's the first time I heard it like that

Yes ... came here to say this. Well put
At 1:26 what happens if Black plays Kg7 instead of Kh7? Then White cannot get the rook to the 6th rank.
White would play rook A5, Kh6, Rb5 and now black king is force to move to the 7th rank, allowing white to play rook to the 6th
Love this kind of puzzles that can never happen in real games ;)
They are composition, specially made to challenge yourself
At time 6:22 why not move Qh7 to immediately start driving the king?
Because I wanted to prove a point where you need a specifical pattern to force black king to the first rank, you cannot just give random checks hoping for the best
0:38 ... I think you forgot Kh7..(btw stockfish thinks Kh7 is the best move)
Kh7 would lead the same result except that black doesn't have the stalemate trap anymore
@@ChessCrafters-lk4dv Ik but you should still show it.
@@hinyuchin4724 you're right, but i wouldn't want to prolongue the video longer

Very instructive.

I was quite confused why defending the rook doesnt work, thank you for answering in the comments
You're welcome
Why can't the 1st black move be to H7, then take h6 & h5.
cann you tell me the minute please?
attacking the king as a knight.
yea, you can summarize it like that
Are engines able to calculate that deep?
Yes
What if Kf6 after Qh7+
7:19
Qg8 and still the same pattern to force him down the board
Can you explain why you need to promote the pawn to rook instead of queen. Can’t the queen just behave like a rook and do the same this?
If you promote to a queen, it's a stalemate.
