Hubby and I got two .25 M16Ds. We own a lot of top tier PCPs from RAW, FX, Daystate etc. We do enjoy playing with lower end PCPs and tinkering with them to see what we can get them to do.
These guns are EXCELLENT performing guns for the money. We did some valve work, machined a adaptor to extend the drop block out past the stock. We did this so we could use carbon 45ci 4500psi regulated bottles.
We got the regs set where we wanted them and then used hammer spring for fine adjustments.
It took some time to do the work we did but that's what we enjoy and we have a CNC machine and lathe at our shop so this was all done by us.
We cut new barrel crowns on the lathe because the factory crown was decent but a quick job for us to cut a flawless crown. We then did a lead lap of the barrel getting a super fine finish (factory after a really good cleaning the barrels finish was again decent but after some time with JB bore paste and then some diamond paste the barrels finish is match grade) and we opened the transfer port slightly and deburred then smoothed the pellet lead.
Then we did some polishing work on trigger parts and we wound up with a very good trigger (not a Crown or HMX trigger but very good)
The guns are setup to shoot JSB 33.95s at 58ftlbs. 10 shot 50y groups (using single load) are consistently .5 to 5/8s inch VERY impressive for a gun of this cost. 100y 10 shot groups running right at 2 inches (at our local 100 yard indoor range) again very impressive for a 400 dollar gun, will it shoot with our Crowns or Impacts? No but it is a 400 dollar gun vs a 2000 dollar gun. The shot string on the bottles we are running is amazing, we are getting 140 shots on the reg at 59ftlbs with a SD of 3fps and an ES of 13fps over 140 shots.
We also found that both of them shoot NSA 29.5 grain slugs in .249 extremely well. We was consistently smacking 12oz soda cans at 200 yards early in the morning with them. 5 shot 100y groups with the slugs are running right around 1.5 moa and 5 shot 200y groups running right around 3 to 3.5 moa. We was hitting soda cans at 200y about 7 out of 10 shotz.
Some tinkering we made these guns perform extremely well and very fun to shoot. As a field gun for hunting squirrels or rabbits this would be excellent for that. With the NSA 29.5s you could consistently take rabbits out to a 125 to 150y. With 33.95 JSBs 100y is rabbit vital area no problems and the gun has plenty of shots so no need to carry a refill source.
We want to buy two more in .22 and set them up the same way. At 30ftlbs the shot count would be upwards of 300 and if they would shoot the FX hybrids well it would be no issue with some valve work getting 40ftlbs from it. That would be a flat shooting rabbit killing field gun that i wouldn't worry about scratching etc etc while out chasing bushy tails. Right now we have a Royale 400 .22 and .25 Royale 500 that we don't worry ro much about that we use as our rabbit guns.

Hi john yes I owned the m30 but had to send it back I exchanged it for a Zobria from the Ukraine which is brilliant, though I liked the m30 accuracy was a problem I think it was a crap barrel because it was very consistent over the chrony scrubbed the barrel which are mega dirty polished the hammer removed machine marks etc but was still not accurate tried 6 different pellets but I am delighted with Zobria.

One slight problem, Simon. 15.9 grains at 583 fps is extremely close to our 12ftlbs limit. How would, say, an 18 grain pellet fare in this rifle?
A very nice rifle for the price but the line is thin between a low powered air weapon and a section 1 firearm. It takes only one shot to go over and the owner is in deep trouble so reducing the power to 11 ftlbs with AA Field would be wise. Just saying...

Great shooting very impressed with the accuracy smk must have improved their barrel quality because the ones they fitted their qb range the bore wasn't central and accuracy was ok up to about 20yrds and if you took the power up to 11+ ft-lb from the original 8+ft-lb it went out the window still got my th78d even with some barrel work nowhere near as accurate as the artemis

  • @aboutthemetal8783

I think Diana have made a good move by having guns made to the spec by snow peak ( the company that makes smks pcps) and then having a Minnelli stock made for some variations, I can imagine the Chinese making a big impact on the pcp market if they keep on doing good , and even more so if other companies do what Diana have done , I think the gun companies are slowly going to see there sales drop over the nxt year or two due to the massive price difference, it shows all us shooters how much gun you can actually get for a real good price , the likes of daystate and the other big boys need to take note and get the pricing down, iv got theobens, daystates, and brockock sniper , and the cheapest was 1k ,
If I was new to the sport I think I’d be a smk devotee!

I recon you could strip that stock down , and stain it too your own taste , probably a bit over the top if you wanted it just for hunting , but " hey " most people like good looking things too be seen out with ... A nice redwood colour would be nice , you could take the stock too an engraver and have it done too your own design ( isn't as expensive as you might think ) but if you just want " grip " because of the lack of stippling , buy what us sports bike riders use on out tanks for leaning off the bike round bends , there called " stomp grips " got a sticky rubbery feel too them ... Stops us falling off our motorcycles when getting our knee round bends ... They also do small sticky " bits and bobs for the same purpose , available from any good motorcycle dealer .... Your gun won't slip out your hands either bare or gloved ... Give em a try ...
PS ..the bits and bobs have too be " jell " ones ..the other type are just for tank protection .. the " stomp grip " are all Jell type ...
Available in black or clear ... Would look ACE on this rifle

Is this virtually the same rifle as the Diana Outlaw? Different Stock, different air bottle, but the action looks very similar as does the magazine configuration (including the requirement to seat the pellets in the mag).
Does the action come out of Snow Peak Airguns in China? I’m waiting on the cops to approve the addition of the Outlaw to my Australian firearms license. Comes in at 28-29 foot pounds over here.
