FULL ATTACK ⚔️⚔️⚔️ I Always come back to this vid, even though I know I will never be able to reach this level, if you are a drummer it just fires you up to go behind the kit. Not to replicate, just to channel the energy. thanks Ben you are a monster 🤘🤘🤘
He just lets loose. From the live footage I've seen, he always changes it up, but keeps the fills and additions in the same ballpark as the original track. So every night would be a different song, basically.
Ben is so damn nuanced. Unpopular opinion, but I can see why the bands prefers their new stuff. at least from a drumming standpoint, it looks a lot more engaging and involved than the older stuff.
Has anyone listened to the studio version of this song and felt like the drums were completely off? He nails it here and maybe I'm crazy but it's undeniable to me in the studio version.
Live versions of songs always have a better flow , most of the time the studio time is spent putting pieces to a puzzle together , once you get on the road the first few shows after an album might be a little rusty but after touring for 6 months playing this countless times this is the live work flow.
I know the splash is either a 9" or 11" Oriental trash splash, but I'm not too sure what that little mini china/splash stack is next to it, it sounds hella crispy.
Nah, you can get huge if you lift hard 5 days a week for at least 1.5hrs each session (no talking or screwing around). It takes a 3 to 8 years but it can be done without juice 100%. You cant really get much bigger than this without juice though.
Most likely for a few different things. Click track, backing and possibly some type or form of a "iletzer t10" program for microphone sound displacement. Like I used a "Rolland mv212" module or whatever for my set. They're all pretty much the same in terms of functionality and even if they are completely different products you can make em pretty much do the same shit with whatever u want. I know sometimes (even with the best tools and equipment that money can buy) that the drum mics can have a sort of sound grouping displacement issue, where because you (the drummer) are constantly moving and the drums are moving around and vibrating as well it can make the mics do some weird things from one another, not just one microphone for one single drum u hit or cymbal. They can all feed off another like a group sometimes even though they're indivualy placed for specific drums parts. This happens in recording, and in the studio when laying tracks you'll experience it one time or another, typically you have more control over the way u want it to sound as well with being in the studio..I'll try and break this down lol. When playing live, weird shit can and usually will happen, say u have the snare miced up and then maybe u have a little set of some overhead mics for cymbal definition, more clarity or whatever u want them for, well the overheads and stuff will have the sound going to them and it'll actually reach those more slowly and it'll take longer for the sound to get to them where as a tye of close mic on a snare or rack Tom will always have the sound reach it Immediately and faster than others. So, that computer could be acting as his module, click track or whatever. Could be for the mic set up and further controlled from the guitar and drum techs or something so like I said with that close mic and overhead mic problem it can be controlled from a computer or something. Usually tech will handle that and not the drummer but who knows
Wheychapel

MrJeezus Try Pablo Viveros from Chelsea Grin - their latest album Self-inflicted
MrJeezus Kevin from the acacia strain. His drumming is actually really tight live too.
