Very authentic video Ben and enjoyed it. I lived on the Ohio River on the Ohio side across from Huntington WV, another place that three states come together. I would sit and watch the boat traffic on lazy evenings in the summer....brings back memories.....and the mountains of WV where I'm from are full of fossils. My son and I go out and find Trilobites and have quite a collection of them. Cheers.
Ben we are so close to the Mississippi River and up high that we can hear the barges a lot. When Beaver Island shows again after a drought, you can find fossils, arrowheads, colonial pieces. My dad was a Riverboat pilot and I got to ride along sometimes. I enjoyed this. Miss the family, especially Emma.
Pretty fun adventure Ben! Cool marble and glass finds. The Ohio river is just 20 minutes away from me and it’s always fun to see the barges. Glad you were able to find your fossil rock! Thanks for taking us along and for sharing the stories. HH
@@HistoryHoundDetecting yes, still hunting a lot but just don’t have all the extra time to do videos anymore. Kinda miss doing videos though just to interact with everyone on here. Maybe I’ll start doing them again sometime.
I just happened across your video and I wanted to say thank you, I really enjoyed it. I grew up and live not far from where you were in Aurora. Thanks for stopping by my neck of the woods.
I love the video and to share the adventure with someone who loves history and searching the past as much as I do. My ancestors floated down the Ohio river from Pennsylvania, Destination the Nashville area. I am in Michigan, but the few times I cross the Ohio into Kentucky, I always gaze down and picture them floating along on their raft.
If you want a good history of the Ohio river, you need to read The Frontiersman or That Dark and Bloody River by Alan Eckert. Two amazing historical narratives. You won’t be disappointed
That’s literally my favorite book. I found it when I was 12 and read it cover to cover. I was also imagining old Simon Girty slinking up and down the river…but didn’t think too many would know the name.
I'm sorry that I haven't been around much lately but it's been really busy around here in Kansas lately ! I hope that you all have been doing well there !

Fun video Ben. Your next family vacation come on up to Michigan's Lake Huron, world famous for it's fossils & sunrises! Deej💜
I grew up in WV, and loved seeing the barges on the river. When I go back home, I still love to see them.
