Appreciate the video. Had my finger hovering over the 75 watter and the newer 90 watter. Went with the 90w PJB Double Plus. There is now a 500w as well.
Love Phil Jones gear. Got a D400 head through a red Pirahna 4 x5 cab - in 40 years of playing, I can honestly say it is one of the very best out there. Recommend checking them out - don't be put off by the size - placed on the floor the bass response is amazing.
I am a gigging bass player. I'm a true blue MarkBass guy and I still love my old Polytone amps, but the Phil Jones is a great amp. I've used this amp for years with a laptop battery or the supplied AC plug. It is great for upright and electric bass. It's great for solo practicing and recording. It's great for band rehearsals. You can use it on gigs but you'll probably need to feed it into the PA.
Some points to note: the 800 watt head does not have a specially built bigger cab to run it. It can be run with 1 or 2 Piranha cabs. It can be run with any other cab of your choice, impedance observed. I went from using a Hartke LH500 with a Hartke 4x10 & 210 cab, to using the Phil Jones gear. The most noticeable differences? Clearer 'true' sound, quality in build and engineering and I'm not paying a chiropractor after every gig to fix my back. Worth it? Yes.
Is it Battery Powered? Can you take this amp to Jam in the park with Acoustic Guitars and Congas ? I love the White BG-75 - gorgeous little amp. No more "Getting a Hernia just to Gig"
Could I plug a small mixer for my vocals in the aux input? Would it sound good? 90% of my gigs are solo bass/vocals in small pubs and cafes. It would be awesome to carry only my bass, this little fella, and a small 4-channel mixer.
Bob William - The input is a 3.5mm input. I guess as long as your output is 3.5mm it should work. I’ve gone from my headphone jack on my PC into it and it’s not the greatest sound but it works. My only concern for you would be volume. The amp is 70 watts but because of the speaker size, it’s not very loud. I would definite try to play one before spending the money.
My White Pjb double four has different power input on the handle side, looks like a 3 pins computer plug, not a DC power, do you know the difference? Which one is the latest model and which one is better? Thanks~!

Wow! I have 2 Polytone amps and 2 Ampeg B15N’s from the 60’s. It’s great to see other bass players that still have vintage Polytone amps!
Good sound examples, great playing.

I was wondering if you think this AMP could handle a bass tuned to A with the low string? ?? this is for pre production recording - Thanks
I have a double four. Anyone know what kind of computer battery to get for it and how long it lasts?

I have the same thing. It's designed that way so you can use a standard laptop charger to run the amp with battery power.
Thanks!
But does it run on batteries?
I think you could use the DC input for connecting to batteries.
Your voice sounds detuned 🤔. Might be from your microphones?
