Love Mike's killer vocals on this one!!! As I have long said, the more I am treated to the unique experience of hearing The Monkees all these many years later, the more I realize how truly creative and talented they were, and might I add, their music stands the test of time beautifully!!! RIP DAVY, MIKE AND PETER!!
One of the Monkees best tracks... had they done more in this vein they would have attracted an older more mature listening audience and rivaled the Beatles even more than they did.The news that they were just actors and did not play their instruments ruined their future.Nesmith was the one writing his own songs.. the others did finally start this process but by then it was too late. The show got canceled, the movie Head bombed and it was over.Sad but they certainly made great comebacks and added new generations of adoring fans. Now with Mike, Peter, and Davy gone Mickey one of popular music's greatest singers is out there honoring the Monkees and their legacy and keeping their wonderful music alive!!
Sheesh! I haven't heard this one in over 50 years! This was one of my favorite Monkees album fillers. I hadn't realized Mike was actually a pretty good singer! I didn't appreciate it as much back-in-the-day at age 11. As usual, your musical "enhancements" brought this illusive oldie back to life with a GREAT 2-channel stereo remix!
@@anitaanderson2871 Peter started out his career as a banjo player and Pete Seeger fan when he was still a street musician in Greenwich Village during the 1963-65 folk boom years. He was capable of playing up to a dozen instruments.
Peter's banjo did this song a huge favor. Mike even said he was blown away when Peter came in on the banjo. Which Mike was never too complimentary of Peter anyway.
I remember my sister getting the Monkees HQ album, still one of my favorites. I think the Monkees were very underrated as a group! P.S: To the person who is remixing or enhancing these songs, keep it up! Great job! I am very much enjoying your work!
That banjo runs rampant, doesn't it? You can also hear a little electric guitar I think twanging (and the tambourine isn't really obvious on the album track either). Fun stuff to hear.
That is why I keep reminding the listeners that the sound systems (Tuners & amplifiers) of the 70's had nice BASS & TREBLE knobs on them to adjust it to their personal liking. There is no standard for everyone and if there was an EQ adjustment on the UA-cam viewer that would help! Kenn
You are right. It does have some strong simularities. I am on the fence regarding whether this tune is close enough for me to consider it "a rip-off." Not in sense of copyright infringement, just in sense of slight "fan disappointment."
HopelessStrlstfan , personally I love it, and don’t consider it a rip off, just strong influence, probably just used Dr Rbt as a writing template.,which so many did in the 60s. Example the Doors Hello I love I always loved, and I never really noticed until it was brought to my attention that the Links Sued Doors claiming they lifted their melody from All The Day and All of the Night, Hello I love wont you tell me your name, Girl I want to be w you..,always loved both songs, never noticed until someone told me about the Kinks lawsuit.
Very Beatlesque this tune. I think the enhancements could've been better if you had added a bit of more bass to this track, and all the other Monkee tracks. Just enough to hear, without muffling or muddying the sound. Great job, nonetheless!
Rest in Peace, Mike. One of the Voices in the Soundtrack of My Life.

Nice. Been hearing this song for 50 years but am hearing the banjo and other instruments more clearly than ever.
RIP Mike Nesmith, gone today 12-10-2021. ❤️

Am I the only one who loves Peter's banjo playing on this song?
Me too! Peter could really play the keyboard. I was at a Monkee concert and Peter played the keyboard
part to "The Girl That I Knew Somewhere"!
Nope! Big fan of Peter's banjo playing; love how it's so clear on this version
No, the reason this is one my favorite songs is the banjo!

No,Pete was a master of the Banjo!
@00:24 Always loved how Peter slung his belt buckle to the side. #cool

Aaaah, Jr high days w/all the pics & magazines of the day. thanks for the soundtrack, too!
Sounds fantastic! One of my favorite Monkees songs
Anytime Nez can be enhanced, I'm there ~ really great pics too!
Ditto Beatles Girl and this is Nez MAGIG!!!
Great remix! Never heard it so clearly!
incredible! full and rich....
I've always loved Mickey's drumming on this one.
M. M. , maybe not Mickey, maybe Wrecking Crew? Which would be Hal Blaine
@@sejrec56 Nope! This was Mickey 100%
Ron Washington how are you so sure?
One of my favorite Monkees songs
@@sejrec56 This was from the album "Headquarters," their declaration of independence. Not so hard to verify.
I sorta got into this song after I got the “Headquarters” album
Much better. Well done.
Love this channel
This. Is fabulous! Thank you.
RIP Peter and Davy.
The mocked "1-2-3" countdown at the beginning was based on The Beatles' 1-2-3 countdown on "Taxman."

Great job! My only thing with it is I think the bass could be louder. But everything else is perfect!

great job-thanks!!
There's so much here I've never heard after 50 years of listening. Like the handclaps, where they always there? Or has this been added years later?
Keep these up
their version of Dr Robert

George Harrison loved using a lot of the Laurel Canyon, Wall of Sound technics.

Is it just me or is this song very Beatleish?
Not just you.
Sorry, I don't remember this one by the Monkees
It's the first track on Headquarters.
To much echo
