When living in the city I planted morning glory along the fence. The city called them weeds and gave us a citation.
Randall was a very good spokesman for the city & a pro citizen advocate from your conversation! Kudos to Randall & to Dutch & family for again promoting goodwill to all! 🏡
Planning Comm here. I try to keep an eye on the Code Enf Admin hearings, small town, small hearings. We try to help home owners. give many time extensions, will have Progress report meetings, etc. Are code enforcement officers are very kind and generous in understanding. But if no work in progress and out of reasons, we start fining. Definitely amount can get huge fast because they double and quadruple in short spaces of time! In most cases we still end up reducing the fines depending on how diligent the owners are. The goal is to clean up the city and avoid the property being an eyesore and an attraction for vandals and vagrants, as well as nasty Critters.
Glad you have a good guy to work with the Mayor.

I love it! Nothing better than people working together to make their little town better. My heart is broken for my “little town” that is being devastated by uncaring people.
No power trip. No weapons or body cam. No ticket. COOL.
I appreciate Mr plumlee for what he does for our town I've met him and he's a super nice guy and he cares for people in for the town😊
I retired from City of Houston Code Enforcement: Dept. of Neighborhoods. We Started with Police Dept and ended up under the Mayor. I got to ride with Code enforcement team several times, but I was in admin. scheduling the hearings for code violations not corrected. Love the attitude of your city official!
Good job Randall, and yes, we all want our towns safe, nice looking, clean and respectable. In our world today, our safety in towns, cities are no longer safe, so seeing Sean and Brandi willing and able to clean up an abandoned home that helps someone else to have a home is a good thing. The other homeowners benefit too, (except taxes) having another family that could be wonderful new friends, a clean property, and improve the aesthetics of the neighborhood.

My ex was a code enforcement officer in manatee county Fl. They mainly drove around and sited people who enclosed their garages and made them into efficiency apartment. Without building permits for running electrical and plumbing. FEMA made it necessary because of flooding.
Im always amazed at Randys knowledge. Have a safe, blessed time.
We had an overgrown yard that looked scary on a major street. Someone I knew bought it and cleaned up the vegetation and renovated the house. It was an amazing change. Then they sold it. Great change to the neighborhood.

Please be careful going up in the bucket of the BobCat - my brother was doing the same thing and an accident happened and he fell out of the bucket, broke his neck and is now a quadriplegic. This old lady is begging you not to be up in the bucket.
I was thinking a couple pieces of scrap 2x4 would go a long way for a handrail held in with some c-clamps, just for stability.

Yup, just got done dealing with them for the second time. The only problem I got is I’ve already got plans to do things when I can, but there’s certain people that don’t live in this neighborhood. They decided to cause me problems to try to make me do it their way, which is not cool
Job is progressing nicely. I hope whomever rents it will keep it nice.
When i lived in town, i had some BAD experiences. If lawn was over 3.5 inches, would get a warning. 10days you get citation. Thats automatic court appearance at county (20 miles away).
The old code officer who gave tickets, had an overgrown yard & junk on his property that if someone else had would be cited. He was sometimes a hard**. But you could work with him (i had a broken leg, so he gave me time to find help), new workers were not easy to work with & they had ppl they let slip because they were (drinking) buds! Had trouble with them taking care of *bad dogs" (in 1day 3 different ppl who came to work at my house or deliveries were threatened by an aggressive dog & they called & told me they didn't see the dog. Well i was outside from time reported to their call,NO ONE HAD DRIVEN BY. they then said until dog actually bit someone they would NOT do anything. 1 neighbor was bit & had to receive stitches from same dog
You have a great mayor in Randall and code inforcer. There are two channels, Exploring with Nug, and Adventures with Adam. They also have a non for profit. What these two do is try a retrieve cars with bodies in them and bring them home to their families. Nug and hid wife Candice also have a channel, Save this Cabin. It's an 1800's log cabin they are trying to restore. I've texted him to try and connect and get some power banksto help them they are end of line in GA so when power is knocked out, they are at the end. I don't know if he knows how to go about trying to connect with these companies. They could use power banks on their boat in their searches also.
Randall-of-all-trades seems like a genuine public servant. The county where I live has code enforcement officers who work for the Sheriff’s Office and a Code Enforcement Board that hears cases on violations like uncultivated vegetation, rubbish, improper uses on land with particular land use zones. The County’s Building Department does building code enforcement on people who do construction without permits and those cases go before a Special Magistrate.
We live just south of Norman & our Code Enforcement Mgr. grew up in the house we own now! We also bought the .50 acre lot next to ours. Before we bought it, it was a messy corner lot & code enforcement took care of cutting down the overgrowth [billed the out of state developer] during the summer. So we appreciate their help and keep our lit'l city clean & tidy!!!

A breath of fresh air compared to the country tax assessor. This is how public officials should act - inform the community and help them to keep their property up to code. Help those who are reasonably unable to meet the code and punish only those who refuse to comply.

I enjoy watching your home repair videos. We are working on our 150year old farm house. My husband grew up here. It was his grandpa's homestead. We are in our 70s and still changing things.
I worked as a Code Enforcement Inspector in the city where Iive. Cited many properties for overgrowth, trash and debris.
It drives me bonkers when people say, no problem. Two negative words...
The rental is starting to look so much better.

This is helping already. Changing those front porch posts will add a lot to the front. Great change to cedar posts.. nice. City codes help keep homes safe, even though it’s a pain. Kindness goes a long way! The front door looks new. A new porch lantern would be nice. Do you plan to repaint it outside?

Some city's have others that can help others in need from illness that find hard to clean up there yards
like the Blessing boys.father and three sons go round and help out people in need and the owners are pleased for the help and the garden's are looking great.

As contractor. I have worked with code enforcement. In 3 different states. They all have there own rules not that much out of sort. But you have the occasional hard case. But most all of them have a boss.
