whoever mixed this deserves a raise. I cant listen to their first two albums anymore after listening these live versions of those songs. Todd also brutalized his vocals to 11.

I can't watch a NAILS set without people saying how much they hate "moshing." Nails is a fucking hardcore band and will always be a hardcore band. That's what people do at fucking hardcore shows.
I don't like the moshing either but i usually keep it to myself. I love the music/shows in general though. I just don't go into the pit, and I leave it at that. I love the atmosphere. I love the live music. If you don't like it, you don't have to be there. You don't have to say shit online. Buy their album and stay at home.

Bands take influence from everywhere except they don’t suck and I don’t give a shit what you call this cause the truth all it is violent. You have to label a band a hardcore band just to listen to them and you gatekeep hardcore cause they don’t completely meet your preferred genre go start your own band and write something hard.

Lots of sets now a days are overblown in length....different times. I personally find the bands tighter and more precise these days.....but bands like Nails, Turnstile, and many more play waaaaaay too long for my tastes......though I wager age, marriage, and momhood play their roles in my current position....

They don't realize they're not a hardcore band
nails themselves refer to themselves as hardcore and they all have had hardcore bands.
Not to mention 1 out of 4 kids at any given hardcore show are wearing Nails merch lol.
Hardcore became impossible to quantify as a sound by about 1982.
I think it's about identity, belief, particular take on community.
When bands like Neurosis returned to playing more and more with hardcore bands in the 1990s everything was on the table.

Hardcore is JUST AS diversify as metal, try looking into sub genres of HC such as PV and grind that Nails play (which are all derivatives of hardcore you dipp shit)

I love this band, but dissapointed the vocalist cant get close to the tone on the album...kinda ruins the dream a bit...first time ive seen live footage...
He can and he used to, but he changed his vocal style for their new record. He sounds pretty much exactly like this on their new songs
+Darian Nadeau I don't think he changed it, the concerts I've seen it's like his voice just wouldn't go any higher. Especially around 2010-2012 Todd had alot of voicecracks on stage.
+Sander Hansen Whenever a vocalist says, "I'm changing my vocal style to mix things up" 90% of the time, the reason is actually, "I can't do the old way anymore."
This is actually how they started. Unsilent Death he screamed this way and then switched to high screams on Abandon All Life (their best album by far, imo) and then went back to mid range/low screams for Youll Never Be One of Us.
AAL is brilliant...I'm a fan of that, not the band.

nails plays a crust/powerviolence fusion from abandon all life (what the beginning tracks are from). those two genres are literally just hardcore amped up. the pit does look pretty autistic tho, dont get me wrong
