- The complete Top Fuel Eliminations of the 23rd Annual 2023 NHRA Route 66 Nationals at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Illinois.
The NHRA is headed back to Chicago and Route 66 Raceway for the first time since 2019 for the Route 66 NHRA Nationals presented by PEAK Performance. The fan-favorite facility has played host to several memorable moments and record performances over the past two-plus decades and race fans will be eager to again enjoy all the intense 11,000-horsepower, 330-mph racing action in the Windy City.

Absolutely. My favorite driver is Tony Schumacher, but by far my second favorite is Clay. So happy for them, I was very nervous when he chose the left lane, but glad he pulled through.

I’ve been on the starting line as well, and I do have to say, I fully agree. It’s so much louder than in the stands. You can feel the pressure change it’s so loud.

For sure. I think it was there to cover up the empty seats in the corner, they didn’t sell any tickets to that part.
We could have had that Dragstrip close to us. but people were complaining about the noise. it's SUPPOSE TO BE LOUD.

Top fuel races 1000 feet, which is just short of a 1/4 mile (1320 feet).
As RacersUnited said, 1000 feet. It used to be a quarter mile but they reduced it for safety after some bad accidents - not enough room to stop safely if they go the full quarter. They used to run mid 4's in the quarter, pretty damn quick.

How much do the tire cleaner guys make? Why doesn't everyone wear protective ear gear when within 100 ft of top fuel dragsters?
Guess it depends what team they’re on, and what job they have in the pits (clutch man, headers, block, etc.). It may look like they don’t have ear protection, but I’ve stood at the starting line and I promise they all do😂

Depends on the day and the track. Just got back from Maple Grove and Saturday and Sunday were PACKED. Rain delayed the semi finals and the finals until Monday morning so when you watch those on UA-cam, you see no one in the stands because no one planned on being there Monday.
