This is one of the best videos ever, I have always had issues linking (most) raid bosses to what was actually going on either in the raid or in the general word, most just seemed like randomly generated names and mechanics. By talking about exactly why they are there its going to make them far more interesting when fighting them
how can it be the best if we didnt even get a glimpse at our mistress?
Taliesan and evitel is by far the best WoW channel right now!

This video really exemplifies why I like Taliesin Talks so much - a lot of other youtubers would just sit down and more or less just talk off the top of their head and then upload that. That's not... *bad*, but it usually leaves you with pretty unorganized ramblings, or surface-level descriptions, or missing interesting connections. By taking his time, and actually writing a proper script, Taliesin allows himself to delve into stuff that would be almost impossible to rattle off during a simple vlog-style vid. Great job.
Now, with that being said, could someone PLEASE tell me what the music that starts at 14:19 is? I've been told it's a Warfront piece, but I couldn't find it, and it doesn't play in either Horde or Alliance themes. :( It's just so damn good. Is it from Tiragarde Sound?
Oh, and lastly - is it significant that G'Huun uses a "rot" (appears to be a fungus), and that fungi grow on dead organic matter - with regards to the undead thing, I mean? Hmmmmm...
That wave from the warlock standing infront of the seal had me in absolute stitches!
Taliesin & Evitel are the favorite thing for me and my fiance to watch on UA-cam while talking about WoW stuffs. Stay awesome!
Great video! Hope you guys do more of these lore break downs for future dungeons/raids!
The Alliance gameplay experience bit was EVERYTHING.
Dear (fake old) God, you guys are everything.
This is not a video. This is a masterpiece!! So much full of detail information. One "like" per viewer is not enough. Thank you very much!!!!
So since G’Huun is a fake Old Gods, there are no Old Gods in BFA! We knew that there wouldn’t be any after all!
fighting minions of an old god means old god. if there is naga anywhere old gods are also a part of plot.
Jitterzz god this joke is getting old
r/wooosh
Iqbalx1 It got old a while ago.
Nzoth will be a boss in a raid instance in BFA. Its all the most certain right now. Let me call it.
2nd tier: Azshara
3rd tier: Nzoth
4th tier: Siege of Orgrimmar 2.0 with Sylvanas or someshit...
Alliance knows of this threat from war campaign. They traveled to Nazmir to meet blood trolls in hope to make an alliance and turn them against zandalars. Then the player and Brann see that this plan failed and that there is more to it. Then we travel to Underrot with Brann and see that there is an old god presence. And then we come with Brann to Uldir. Brann is our guide. So Alliance has a perspective, it's just different from the Horde. And that is nice actually.
A most excellent video neatly summarizing the lore in a quick and easy to understand fashion. One thing I will bring up though is your use the Hearthstone old god images... you really should have included Mecha'thun as well :D
Normally when i watch a video on youtube i do it either by boredom or when i poop.
But when i see that this channel has got something new while im on the toilet, i wait.
Then i grab a drink, either water, beer, coke or sometimes even a glas of wine.
Then i go out in my chair on the outside, bring my headphones and light up my pipe.
That Idris Elba joke had me in bits, good shit.
Thanks for the video. As an alliance player I was a bit lost on the story but it doesn’t stop the excitement.
Next raid will definitely be Alliance oriented I’m thinking something to do with Stormsong Valley. Maybe Even the Blighted Realms - we all want Blighted Realms.
This is a great video, no body ever talks about who the bosses are and why we should kill them other than the last boss. Thumbs up.
Videos like this make me wish I could still enjoy the game. I love the multi-facetted lore and implications behind almost anything. So few games have that now.
Talie, you do know that the Void has no problem with undeath right? Remember WoD? I know, the flashbacks and pretending it doesn't exist, but that's where most of the Void lore comes from. The Shadowmoon clan were able to resurrect the dead using the Void. Additionally, in Stormsong Valley, the tidesages use their dark magic, later shown to be Void, to also resurrect the dead. on top of that, G'huun's own faceless ones utilize the void. Nor is undeath immune to their corruption, look at the hundreds of forsaken that are members of the Twilight's Hammer, there was even a forsaken boss in Blackfathom Depths. Plus, in the Q+A that explains why forsaken can use Light, they said that undead's souls are separated from their body as a whole by the Void, which is why Light hurts, but doesn't kill them when used for healing. Setting up Undeath as the force that will stop the old gods is like setting up a dinner plate to Yogg-Saron. Y'know, that other God of Death. Also, undeath itself is a fallacy. All the leaders of these death factions are actually trying NOT to die. Helya is actually alive even though she doesn't want to be, Sylvanas is avoiding true death, Gorak Tul tried to use Thros to circumnavigate death so he could get his vengeance. Bwonsamdi wouldn't ally with Sylvanas herself, by the way, considering he represents the afterlife. And undead are NOT in the afterlife.
Thank you, this whole thing came from the wispers in that comic, calling sylvanas the true enemy, but people forget that void is not evil by nature just as light is not good by nature, Void sees all posibilities as true and thats the driving force behind its corruption, but that does not make it evil, and frankly, from ALL posible future at least 75% of them would be sylvanas killing everything so those whispers just stated that undeath is fucked up. Nothing new really
This. The Light represents Order. The Void represents Chaos. Both are essential forces in the world.
Toyoka you are referring to titans/arcane = order and fel/burning legion = chaos
That whole chart just seems like a snapshot of the Warcraft universe in its current form. The Burning Legion came to be because Sargeras saw it as the only way to deal with the Void Lords. How can the demons be the Titan's natural enemy when they weren't even a threat until Sargeras went mad after too many encounters with the Void (specifically demons that learned to use the Void)? The Void is what drove Sargeras to create the Burning Legion, giving the "disorganized and incompetent demons" (from the wiki) enough power to actually be relevant. At the very most Sargeras was the enemy of the Titans, not the demons he whipped into an army with, and the Void is what drove him to oppose his own kind.
Plus the Void Lords are using their Old Gods to corrupt Titan Souls to turn against the Titans. I mean that seems pretty nemesis-y to me.
yeah but they're putting the undeads and Sylvanas as the one who will ultimetly be able to defeat the void, thats what i fear, basically Kerrigan all over again.
I think a video of Taliesin saying "gogogogogo" on a 10 hours loop would be a good ASMR xD
As an Alliance player, I was pretty lost on what the deal was here. Thanks for clearing it up, really appreciate it.
Tali, your breakdowns are really good mate, giving me the feels
Nice use of Orbit from the Houston Astros! Loved the video as always.

I quit WoW 18 months ago. This channel is the only one with the personality to make me want to play again. BFA has so little in it that interests me but T and E make it seem like I'd love it. Mad props.

Ahh, so happy to see you're apparently feeling better! You two are the best and I was genuinely concerned for you.
The meatball and cat jokes had me laughing on the bus, thanks for all the weird looks.

Was waiting and waiting and waiting for this vid to pop, loved it. Taliesin and Evitel is absolutely THE WoW channel to watch. Entertaining, informative and funny as hell.
Wasn't the seal in Nazmir broken due to the Cataclysm? I think I heard that ingame or read it from a reliable source, though I can't recall where that was. Or it might be the Cataclysm broke enough of Nazmir/ the underground Titan facility that it allowed G'Huuns underrot to rot up until it could overrot the seal.
Anyway, great video!
The recap of the story in Zandalar is the best recap of a story ever :P
I fudgen love your guys videos! Your always killing it guys! Thank you very much! Makes my drives to work so much easier! Much love. Keep it up!
sorry, but best video boss guides are now Hazelnuttygames. Short, quick, to the point and covers everything you need to know.
Other than that, love your videos. You guys have taken over as my #1 WoW youtuber.
This channel cures my depression. Thank you.
Thanks for the video. As an alliance player I had no idea about what was going on there. There should have been some kind of introduction to the story for us, the raid feels really random for people who didn't play the horde story.
Just had to let you know the jokes in this one are great. I spit my coffee out. Keep the vids coming!
Lol as an alliance main who has only gone through the Ally story I was very confused, so thanks! I do think we should just leave them to rot though, good luck horde!
This was a very thourough explanation video, one of the best I've seen. I legitemetly agree with your point that G'huun (while sharing the biological makeup off an old god) is a isolated creation from an Old God, sort of like the Primal Zerg and Psionic Zerg from Starcraft, Similair, but different, but they still count as Zerg.
He's Hakkar in disguise...
I want it to be true. I can still dream...
Always a pleasure you two!!
13:43 You got it wrong ! :p
Thanks a lot for the vid' and the laughs tho' ! ^,^
really love to get to know a bit about the lore through this channel
As an alliance player who won't level their horde alt until sometime around 8.3 - thanks for the lore rundown.
I really need to level up my horde toon, the story and those cinematics seems amazing
I as an Alliance player just went online one day and said "Oh, look! A new raid! Lets get some new gear baby". Thanks for explaining me who the bosses are and why we're killing them (but to be honest I still don't get why we kill the M.O.T.H.E.R.).
alliance here, nice video, didnt know most of this things, even after doing the raid on normal dificulty
14:48
“Copputing world soul” lol I donno why but that typo is so far off that I just love it
that bit with the ikea ball... dude savage xD
First question to our raidleader when approaching Vectis HC was "So, after we've spread it, can we put in on a hunter pet, and if so, can it be stored and spread around a capital city afterwards?".
Answer was: "Interesting, actually".
I fear our Raidleader now.
Your videos are always so insightful and cleverly funny, my only ask is only ever for more videos lol
Missed opportunity to say you were giving us the "loa" down on Old Gods. As a fellow pun master I expected more Taliesin :)
boooooooooooooooo
that was pretty lame, still i agree total missed opportunity
What a sham(an) attempt!
Man, you really reached for the loa hanging fruit on the Pun tree didn't ya? I guess we will have to loa our expectations from now on!!!
The door is this way right? I will see myself out
I really enjoy just the "gogogogogogogo" in these vids.
That hakkar blood refererence is great.
That cat bit was immense lol
My take on the story content is that the horde started with the good story and sick build up to the first raid (just like the alliance started with control of the warfront). I think that the next raid would be something about azhara and the void which, from my experience, players have heard alot about in the alliance story content. When the new raid comes out I guess that the alliance story line will make more sense.
One interesting thing to point out about the "undead becoming more important" theory is that it's possible the alliance will have a raid based on the blighted lands. Gorak'thul already challenged the players to meet him there. I can see it becoming a raid similar to what ToV was. And it would add more to the plot surrounding undeath.
I recently made a joke "Horde fucks up and Alliance has to come in and clean up the mess again"
I had no clue how right I was.
I have played through both Alliance and Horde stories but my main is Alliance and from that point of view I personally don't feel any obligation to cleanse the titan facility but for the preservation of my faction I will be forced to deal with the problem eventually if the Horde and the Zandalar trolls can't handle it. So it's best to deal with the problem sooner rather than later.
It would of been nice to have a quest line for the Alliance that pulls us into the story of the raid, and to give us a reason to go there. Like we found out about it, and one advisor suggest to the king to just keep out of it to let Horde fail. Anduin then points out that the problem won't stay on Zandalar forever, and will come for the Alliance at some point anyway. So better to deal with it now then let it get out of hand.
@@MichiCommander there's a bit of that in the war campaign on the alliance. Setting up base in Nazmir, and then setting up the Outpost. Very clearly not the extent of the horde side, but it's not completely out of the blue.
"This is a horde vs alliance expansion. There will be no old gods here" - N'Zoth.
I really enjoy your raid previews. Great stuff.
I almost spit out my beer at the Ikea meatball joke.
Bloodthirsty undead making old god is enough of a reason to fite him but yeah i like that blizz didn't go the same way for him with the rest of the old god related story (that much) after we learn his origins, i didn't even know he has no interest for the world soul, good to know thank for the further lore.
Old god, schmol god. I'm not going to be able to think about anything else until Tyrande tells me what's up with my night elves. (Hope you're feeling better)
Seriously, I love the videos you guys make. Everyone go become a patron
I had to pause and take a moment after that IKEA meatball joke :D
Judging by the model, G'huun just wants hugs
ok? gogogogogogogogogo~
Nice video Taliesin. Loved the music towards the end of the video mixed with the story.. Made it really intens. Could you link it by any chance?
The shape of Zul's tusks gives you the urge to break them, just to see what happens.
15:05 "Only purpose is to consume and destroy." Thought you were going to mention my kids.
Sythrax Mythrax the Unraveler. Now this will resonate in my mind for a long time.
Great video! I’d skew G’huun closer to an “Anti Old God” I think that was inadvertent but he seems like he’d be the ultimate scorched earth (Azeroth) weapon against them.
Great video, but I think your point about G'huun being the only old god that likes death leaves out the fact that Yog'saron refers to himself as the god of death
EFFN loved this! GJ Tali
One thing everyone forgets about where the whole 'death/spirit' beings gathering up souls is concerned, is ELUNE. In Legion not only did she get the 1000 odd souls from the Teldrasil burning (as well as every Nelf soul thats ever been) but also the soul of Ysera! A dragon Aspects soul!
Hm. The tendrils that came down from Elune to release Ysera's spirit kind of resemble the white spirit healer magic.
Excellent show this week.
12:52 ~ um... Fighting Zul is silly because he was stabbed through the heart, kicked off the top of the temple to the bottom, through a massive plume of purple fire... which we all know purple fire is the best fire... so what is he doing even having a body to refill with blood??
I don't even play wow but this was damn interesting.
I'm somewhat new to the channel and most videos I watched had their faces recorded. So whenever I see a new video like this one I'm like "I know his voice is pretty but so is his face and I want both!"
Welcome back! Hope you're feeling better Tal!
Coming back to this video over a year later, Tali says "Old Gods don't like undeath, that's a fact", well, N'Zoth did resurrect Azshara.
Current bet is the Azshara raid will pay the favor back to the Horde and mainly focus on the elements revealed/explored during the Kul Tiras campaign based on the data mining stuff.
Love the info you guys share and the way yall do it! Yall are gems!
Finally made my way into a T&E video, and I didn't even have to say something stupid on the forums.
So as an Alliance player I don't feel conected to the raid, but I feel excited to delve into this dark dungenoun and solve it's mysteries... Indiana Jones meet exterimator style! ahah
Hope you are feeling better Taliesin!
The idea that Old Gods are disgusted/scared by undeath is an *incredibly* important plot-twist if it turns out to be true. Especially since there's been a theory for almost a decade about Yogg'Saron's role in Arthas's madness and whether or not he was influencing him. If this turns out to be true, then we know it'll be the other way around - Yogg'Saron quite possibly *feared* Arthas and wanted nothing more than to bring him down. After all, being trapped inside Ulduar was the least of his worries if the alternative was to break free on a continent *swarming* with undead that he can't touch, who would be more than happy to destroy him. And it starts answering some of the real questions about why Bolvar is acting the way he is - he might be aware that he is part of some greater than we first expected - that he's not simply the "Jailor of the Damned", but in fact instrumental in freeing Azeroth from the forces that seek to corrupt it.
In that sense, both the Lich Kings and Sylvanas are *kind of* right when they suggest that the only way to *save* the world of Azeroth is to literally kill it. Death is the only thing that will inoculate the population in terms of not getting corrupted by the void and willingly delivering Azeroth to it.
wait.. that reminds me of s certain plot... where a certain end boss suddenly became the big bad goody two shoes good guy... oh yeah wait its called illidan and legion.... if what you say is true, blizzard got very lazy and boreing and are just doing the same thing 2 expansion in a row
These videos somehow keep getting better and better....
You guys missed another rise of undeath thing, Gorak Tul is not only undead, he lives in a place that is clearly connected to undeath like Helya's realm (I actually forgot what it was called) not to mention he keeps talking about the power of death.
Epic music in the later half of the vid
kinda reminds me of day of the dead intro actually
I think that the cheeky thing about Old Gods is... Well, the use of the word "Gods" to describe them. Naturally this gives the impression of them being these beings from beyond creation.
... But we don't know who gave them that name. Might be it's just what others called them. It's just a category given to creatures with similar characteristics and a comparable level of power, for now. Of course these creatures have a vested interest in being considered gods whether they are or not, since they fight for dominion.
So if G'huun shares the common characteristics of an Old God (other than being a flying space tumor) and was created during investigations concerning how Old Gods are created... Then it's an Old God. Only that it might be a weird, malformed hybrid of one.
Was Dolly the sheep not a sheep because she was a clone?
Another great vid. Your one liners had me crying.....again. Bravo.
well, I spoiled myself, I haven't even finished Zandalar yet, but I still watched half of it.
I'd say hes not an old god mainly because of physical aspects, he doesn't seem to be "entrenched" on the Azeroth, like the others we fought which is why we can't really kill an old god, you know, unless you want more maelstroms, personally 1 is good enough for me. By entrenching themselves on the planet it allows them to become stronger to and make the corrupting easier, while also preventing them to be outright killed by a stronger force(pantheon) without destroying the world soul in the process which is more of a win than a loss for the void lords. I feel that is a key part of distinguishing between a god from lesser god, lord, loa, avatar what ever you want to call it.
Assuming G'huun could entrench himself how long would that process take, for it to reflect the original old gods size/power and attachment to the actual world soul.
This is just how I look at it due to limited information on the topic, I could be missing something though
Amazing video as always :D
G'huun reminds me of the Zerg from Starcraft after hearing your discription of him/her/it.
really enjoyed this one.
Thanks for the good summary
17:40 Lots of hints, yeah, including your theory of a new Undead Faction! (the one with all all races turn Undead, right?)
It could be as you say too, and in that case, that third faction would have A LOT more significance. ^^, @Blizzard
Watching an episode without seeing Taliesin on cam makes me feel somehow... void. That dang devilish good looking son of a gun.
