It's 10x more enjoyable to hear the machine in a machining video. Thank you!

Truly a sophisticated machine. Good one to make use for something similar product shown, no setup changes, overall package of machining options and value for money. Thumbs up!

OMG, i never saw the CNC huge like this one, so cool !!, but nowadays i'm not working with CNC or EDM anymore, i'm drawing 3D modeling with NX only, still love this awesome machine !!

DMG is a German company, Mori Seiki is a Japanese company. They've been partnered up for a couple years now, and I doubt either would allow any component of importance to be manufactured in China. If there's two nations on the Earth that know how to build precision hardware, it's Germany and Japan.
Also, in the event of a nuclear attack from North Korea and/or China, multiple Mori Seiki VMCs join together to form Voltron and destroy the nukes. True story.

i have worked on one m/c, turning the legs for north sea oil rigs, that was fun, the swarf came off in chips that were like bullets. sat in a cab and had to use a crane just for the tool. neat, 8 hours for a cut.

Damn. By the time it did a tool change I could have carved the part out by hand with a butter knife. LOL nice machine.

It's also a good trick on smaller (robot-less) machining centres , that's how i got to know this.... quicker tool changes cut your time loss ;-)

It's becoming common practice to not use coolant while milling when the cutter is not making constant contact with the part. Less thermal shock to the tools, longer tool life.

Cast Iron is self lubricating if you cut it wet the the cast iron turns it into carborundum paste doesn't do the sideways of the machine much good

I run a Toshiba VTL with a 18 foot max diameter and about 15 ft vertical. This machine is obviously more high tech but I'm wondering based on the enclosure, how do you load parts with a crane? Does the table/chuck move out so loading is easier?

Speed of tool change needs to be sped up, but with the mass of the tool plus holder moving too quickly things can go to hell very quickly. I do like the size of the library of preset tools it has to choose from........

on parts this size, tool change is still fraction of the total time.. 5min extra on a 10hour cycle doesn't mean anything.
