honestly i think he looks down to earth and respect others opinion, some reporter on verge think know everything thats good for you and should just do that.
Not going to lie he's not that good at his job. Far field charging isn't years away, it's coming to market this year. The boom in qi charging with the iPhone compatibility was predicted a few years ago. So instead of showing this he should walk over to where Energous is and report on that.
Do any of these chargers allow for charging with a case on the phone? I’ve never had one before and am really interested in getting a wireless charging pad for my iPhone 8+. However, I have a relatively thick case on it and want to make sure a charging pad will actually work if I buy one.
A company called Energous Corp is developing something called WATTUP. Its supposed to charge your devices from a few feet away. That would be cool as hell.
So many people criticize wireless charging since “you’re plugging a pad in anyway” well would you rather plug in a pad once or plug in your phone every time? With wireless charging you can set it on the pad throughout the day and charge bit by bit, without going out of your way whatsoever. You can also just pick it up and use it and then set it back down, which is sometimes easier than using it when it’s plugged it. Wired charging has the idea of all-at-once, wireless is completely changing that for convenience
It’s also just more convenient if you only want to charge your phone all at once without use (like overnight), since setting it on the pad is easier than plugging it in
Matt Pavliscsak lmao I’ll assume that’s sarcasm, I don’t mean it as extreme as you put it, but I still see it as at least a minor benefit when many see it as pointless
Wonder if they'll be a pad you can put on the floor you can drive your car over and charge it for future electric vehicles. Instead of having to step out your car or hooking something to it. Basically park right above it.
What's this Corsair that you speak of? For me, I'm just hoping that OnePlus and Google adopt wireless charging into their devices. And fast wireless at that.
As far as i see it, companies are not divided on whether to use micro USB-B or USB-C. Everyone agrees that USB-C is the future, it's just that right now mid-ranged phones get cheaper by using the old Micro B connector, as well as being more compatible with existing older products and cables, typically found in the house of someone who does not want the newest, best and flashiest smartphone.
Studiorose11 is he good? Presented Corsair as if it's not know. Didn't address charging speeds. He listed things he saw. I guess we have different standards.
With graphene batteries around the corner this is a stop gap technology but at least the charging lamp makes sense. Also those chargers are way too slow.
2:02 "A company called Corsair"?! I'm not PC hardware enthusiast, yet Corsair is as familiar a name to me as Belkin. You named a couple other much smaller, less well-known companies without making their names sound like something the viewer wouldn't recognize.
2012 called, it wants it's charging solution back! ohohoho Nowadays I just want my phone to charge as quickly as possible, and last as long as I need it to.
This is pretty hilarious. I've used wireless charging for over 5 years now, to the point where I'm sick of it, and now people are like oh cool, wireless charging, just because it's on the new iPhone's. I much prefer my Dash USB C charging as it's faster than these will ever be.
I'm not impressed until people start doing what Samsung did 2 years ago with their wireless charging backpacks. You have no idea how convenient these things are compared to regular battery packs.
The guy talks awkwardly and i was expecting that specific wireless chargers would be discussed but instead he just talked abt the trend in wireless chargers
yes but you can't use your phone or listen to your music (only through headphone jack). I don't think it's that more convenient. it doesn't take that much time to plug in your phone
Zen Westrum Ostrom It’s not for everyone. Clearly you aren’t someone they are trying to sell it to. For most people they buy wireless chargers for convenience.
Bedside> pop it down Friends come over charge devices by a simple gesture Built in wireless charging into car mounts to hold and charge your phone Restaurants with built in charges into the tables to charge your phone whilst you eat It gives you options
Glass back, dock that can take something else's place on the desk, can't use your phone much while charging, slow to medium range charging speeds... The drawbacks of wireless charging are still too great to make it something else than a gimmick. I don't see the point of it yet. I'd take something like OnePlus' Dash Charge over wireless charging anytime
But why? Wireless charging is slower and not as useful as just using a wire. Sure it looks cool but at least with a wire you can move your phone around a little bit instead of having to have it in one position while it slowly charges.
Why does no one mention the efficiency loss in wireless charging? It might not effect the electricity bill of the individual user, but if billions of devices get charged burning 30-40% extra power in the induction coils, we might need some extra power supply of some sort just for a little convenience.
who needs an 8 hour charge in 10-15 minutes when you can just have restaurants have qi enabled floor tiles (in the middle of a walkway) for you to set your phone down on for an hour (for a 40-50% charge). Public outlet hunting is longtime tradition of that quality platform.
NBMTX I am talking about waste of energy. Making more energy generating necessary to do the same. This ads to our global footprint. How many devices are out there? 1billion? At 7watt 4h charging and 30% energy loss compared to wire charge, this ads up to..8.4 Gigawatt. Salut to the convenience of not connecting a wire.
I never got the point of wireless charing. You still need a wire for the charging pad. I mean its the same thing in essence. You just place the phone on a pad. You just don't need to connect a wire to your phone, but you need to connect a wire to a pad. Like whats the point.
these chargers would of still been developed with or with out apple adventualy supporting qi charging their low market share and product quality means they are no longer the leaders in mobile phones
TBH I tired of these tiny pads, I want a mat that I can put on a surface and not have to line up my devices to under surface coil points though part of the pad/mat. Make the whole mat conductive, shesh even I though that was a basic when thinking about how I would design a product like this.
wow this company called corsair sounds interesting
Ally Baird theyre like razer, or nvidia.
BillW17 it was a joke lol, theyre a well know brand
Ally Baird
Lol had a feeling someone would answer that
Corsair? Never heard of it.
They probably do some niche stuff.
A company called "Corsair"...
Pedro so?
BillW17 Corsair is a big name brand in the technology industry. It’s like saying “a company called Dell”
Gaetano Rispoli Exactly
Yeah I winced too.
A company called „Apple“...
A company called corsair. lol.
Elliott Pol so?
That's like saying a company called logitech, or razer or even Asus. Corsair is a huge name name in the tech world.
Elliott Pol and?
Ross Green so?
Does one need to preface when they mention google by saying "a company called google" or is it implied by there renown.
"a company called Corsair"
a company called corsair !!!! Founded in 1994 it's probably at your age. amateurs
"Charge your Mouspad" Lol
Dennis Voronin i read this exactly when he said that
I like this guy and he's good at his job but he always looks kinda terrified ^^
honestly i think he looks down to earth and respect others opinion, some reporter on verge think know everything thats good for you and should just do that.
Introvert maybe
Not going to lie he's not that good at his job. Far field charging isn't years away, it's coming to market this year. The boom in qi charging with the iPhone compatibility was predicted a few years ago. So instead of showing this he should walk over to where Energous is and report on that.
no one predicted apple will adopt qi , everyone was counting on apple to build there own real wireless solution which they couldnt deliver
Kabutar111 maybe apple fans did. But Apple's adoption of qi was inevitable.
Since I own a iMac I was wishing for a wireless charger in the "foot" of the unit!
Max Ziebell
Damn. That's sounds actually genius really!
Deshawn Saunders that would get hot af
Well it’s metal, so that would be an interesting design challenge lol but sounds like it would be awesome. Maybe it could sit ontop the base?
Tesla invented wireless charging 100 years ago
I’ve still got five Palm Touchstones dotted around the house lol
I stopped watching at the "Like the company called Corsair." This dude acts like he got into the tech world last year.
Do any of these chargers allow for charging with a case on the phone? I’ve never had one before and am really interested in getting a wireless charging pad for my iPhone 8+. However, I have a relatively thick case on it and want to make sure a charging pad will actually work if I buy one.
What was the name of the start up lamp company? For the life of me, I cannot find them on Google.
I love it when there is universal standards.
That background music until 1:50 sounds pleasing.
A company called Energous Corp is developing something called WATTUP. Its supposed to charge your devices from a few feet away. That would be cool as hell.
Unlike that company called Corsair
What is the brand of the Qi wireless car mount that we see at the wooden wall?

Some of the company names are hard to make out when you say them. It would have been helpful to have links in the description
we need links to buy this stuff!!!
What about true wireless charging with the energous or motherbox?
What about the Wi-Charge? It can wirelessly charge devices at a distance without the need for the phone to make contact.
Does it mean you have to keep mousepad plugged in, Corsair?
I just unboxed and reviewed a wireless charger from STARQ on my channel and its definitely one of the nicest wireless chargers ive ever had!!
Should have mentioned fast vs. slow wireless charging. Look at Samsung's implementation for a good example.
Brandon Campbell is Samsung's fast or slow?
Henry Ijeoma fast, you iDiot! twice as fast, actually
Henry Ijeoma Samsung has fast wireless charging but you can disable it if you want. I disable it sometimes bc it's bad for your battery
Bogdan what does twice mean? Does it output more than 8W?
If its bad why is there in the first place?
I was under the impression that we'd get more examples of wireless chargers other than just name dropping a few companies.
I may have to check out that Corsair mouse pad
the lamp charger and the mouse pad were my favorite 2
Wonder if they'll be a pad you can put on the floor you can drive your car over and charge it for future electric vehicles. Instead of having to step out your car or hooking something to it. Basically park right above it.
What's this Corsair that you speak of?

Anyone know what brand the apple iwatch charger stand is at 0:05?
I use the IKEA lamp, it works and was dirt cheap on sale (20 euros).
Wallpaper for the iPhone X in thumbnail?
Daniel take a picture of a damn keyboard ...
I also want that...plz share.

What phone isnthat at 2.28 ? 5t ???
Oh how cute, a company called The Verge decided to cover an event called CES
How much slower is it?
Corsair.. what company is this one? It should be a really small and unknown one =/
Love the honest reviews Verge, thanks
There is a true wireless charger on CES.
Try to look for it before saying there is not one
Major step up from your first video, good job!
This guy is good. He needs to learn how to talk to the camera tho
Studiorose11 is he good? Presented Corsair as if it's not know. Didn't address charging speeds. He listed things he saw. I guess we have different standards.
The background music on this video was really bad.
What's the name of the person talking in this video? I would like to say that this video was narrated pretty well.
But will it fast charge ?
With graphene batteries around the corner this is a stop gap technology but at least the charging lamp makes sense. Also those chargers are way too slow.
Wireless charging pad where it can charge laptops and wireless mouse at the same time
Awesome to have a mousepad that can charge your mousepad! I want one of those! 2:05
Thanks for recognising that true wireless charging isn't here yet.
I wonder if sometime in the future our phones won't have batteries anymore and just draw from a central hub similar to what Tesla was working on
**interview in 5 minutes.... literally throws on shirt**
When slow mo meet slow mo... And a guy talking like he knows everything... U now its a Good Video
2:02 "A company called Corsair"?! I'm not PC hardware enthusiast, yet Corsair is as familiar a name to me as Belkin. You named a couple other much smaller, less well-known companies without making their names sound like something the viewer wouldn't recognize.
strange title considering he didn't really expand on what the coolest wireless chargers are.
Energous is the real future
I wonder what that other company named Corsair has been selling in the market? It sounds like an underground brand to me
I want a wireless charger with a nfc speaker!!
It would be nice for my iPhone 8plus to charge instantly with QI as soon as I enter my house
Awesome technology.!! Loved It .!
Thumbnail wallpaper????
👏👏👏Awesomely produced video ! 👍👏👏👏
2012 called, it wants it's charging solution back! ohohoho
Nowadays I just want my phone to charge as quickly as possible, and last as long as I need it to.
Your personal "wireless" charging pad still has a cable dangling from it. Let that sink in.
Great video thanks for the information.
“it’s cool that companies do different things because it is nice to have options”yeah... we know.. thanks
This is pretty hilarious. I've used wireless charging for over 5 years now, to the point where I'm sick of it, and now people are like oh cool, wireless charging, just because it's on the new iPhone's. I much prefer my Dash USB C charging as it's faster than these will ever be.
a company called Corsair, i don't know that Corsair is a company
Heard of wattup from energuos ?
Disclaimer: it ruins your battery due to heating it when charging. That's gotta be why apple wants it in their phones now
I'm not impressed until people start doing what Samsung did 2 years ago with their wireless charging backpacks. You have no idea how convenient these things are compared to regular battery packs.
i know many people have comment the same... but wtf with 'company called corsair'
Wow this guy oozes charisma...
what I want is not how we charge, but what we charge. Li-on batteries has been forever, hope theres new tech how batteries are made, use, and discard.
That stand charger at 0:05
that' an intern right? :D
(One year later)
Apple unveils its new Kii charger that only works with iPhone 11 and later apple devices.
The guy talks awkwardly and i was expecting that specific wireless chargers would be discussed but instead he just talked abt the trend in wireless chargers
This guy looks like Jim from the show “the office”
'A company called corsair'? That's like saying 'A company called Logitec'.
I’m so happy Apple invented wireless charging! Oh wait.
Apple sheep: look I can charge my phone wirelessly! Isn’t that cool??
Everyone else: ...
Can anyone tell me whats the advantage of wireless charging? You can’t use your phone while it charges!!!
Zen Westrum Ostrom Convenience... you just drop it on a pad and it charges.
yes but you can't use your phone or listen to your music (only through headphone jack). I don't think it's that more convenient. it doesn't take that much time to plug in your phone

Yes but unless you're using a cheap low quality charger then it's not safe to use your phone while charging
Bedside> pop it down
Friends come over charge devices by a simple gesture
Built in wireless charging into car mounts to hold and charge your phone
Restaurants with built in charges into the tables to charge your phone whilst you eat

Ces already???!!!!
It’s the last day
Energous, FCC approval of truly wireless charging is the future. This will change everything from hospital equipment to everyday life.
I'm just annoyed that Google show no interest in this at all.

Company called Corsair...
When will we see phones charging from WiFi.

True wireless charging started in 1997.

Did he just said " company called Corsair " ? Whatttttt
Who’s watching while wireless charging
There are sure a lot of sures
The title is sooooo misleading!!!
