Looks great Phil, got the ultramax 3 years ago best thing ever I bought, spray all my doors & woodwork, cabinets etc with it. People moaning about the pumps, never had a problem with mine normally lasts 200litres on each pump change which I can deal with just turn it upside down on a small flow from tap to clean it takes 5mins to do. Motor still fine as well.

For me personally I can't see the benefits of owning one. Sure it would be a lovely toy to mess about with but the only use I could see this having is spindles. I have the Graco mini contractor gun for my gxff and I find that gets into all the tight spaces I need it to. I generally never catch anything I've just sprayed with the hose because I start furthest away from the unit and work my way back towards it so you aren't going anywhere near wet paint. If it was £500 or £600 then perhaps it would be worth picking one up but it's double that and for touch ups you can get the ultra max for around £700.
After all that, it does look a brilliant little sprayer and I'd be interested to know the pump life on them and how easy they are to change. Great review Phil, always appreciated. 👍

Well done Phil, well presented. I can see it would come in handy for smaller jobs and woodwork. I think I would use my bigger unit for ceiling and walls. It ticks the boxes for not trailing hoses and extension leads about catching doors you’ve just sprayed and ease of cleaning. I liked it, nice to dial in and have the control on any overspray also.

well I have seriously considered getting one of these to add to my collection but the price was putting me off at mo. I've already an apollo pro HVLP which works great and also my trusty wagner 119 which I've had for around 9 years and its never failed me brilliant bit of kit and not like the newer cheaper chinese models.. However after doing some research i found some info with regards to the Wagner HEA 150m, yes these are cheap and basic but they do run at lower pressure. Anyway i took a punt on this managed to get a 2nd hand one £100 sold as faulty but was a very simple fix (O ring) and looked like new, anyway i have tried this now on a few scenarios ceilings (great) and woodwork spraying gloss which is what i wanted to test it on and TBH i cant fault it! Does the job and gives a really good finish on parr which my 2 other expensive machines. also to reduce the pressure (well amount of paint coming through) someone suggested simply put some tape around 1/2 the gun filter... well i did and boom really surprised as it made glossing seamless. Cleaning it is a doddle 5 mins effort as it has a hopper. so the moral to all this is , you dont need to spend a fortune to get a good result. Makes my life easier.

Great stuff Phil! I’ve been watching a lot of your vids lately and they’re all really well done.
I’m in the states and have been wondering if one of these would be good for my house “re model”, I’m replacing most of the doors and trim.
I picked up a 5 stage turbine from Harbor Freight ( not sure if you’re familiar with Harbor Freight there in the UK ) and it’s a great machine but I’ve been struggling with getting the finish out of it that I want with Sherwin Williams Emerald urethane which is a Wb alkyd. I was an auto body painter for 27 years and have multiple high end spray guns but running 150 feet of hose from my garage through the windows is a little bit of a pain😅.
I can get great results with conventional hvlp and lvlp spray guns but the overspray is a bit more, the hvlp turbine is a different animal and I love the thought of using less material and having less overspray but …. maybe I need to get a bit more used to it, it’s definitely much slower though but I wouldn’t mind as long as I could get everything glassy smooth. It’s killing me though because I can get outstanding results with a brush and the stuff just looks like glass as long as it’s a straight run of moulding , like chair rail or crown. But when it comes to all the “ins and outs” of jambs I find it impossible to get it all perfect lol.
I can’t help but wonder how smooth/silky it would lay out with one of these and a 208-210 or 308-310 tip.
These are around $1400 usd here, I’m a little scared to take the chance. I have the Graco True coat DS and don’t like it at all

the door frames, the trick is not to apply too much at a time, going over the same area, it's when you see people do a frame all in one 'sweep' (bottom, to the top, across the top then down the other side) taht way you're not over loading the area with paint.

Nice bit of kit but just don't think i'll get much use out of it on the projects i normally do . I do tend to buy stuff on impulse though . • @AspireDecorating
      @AspireDecorating 8 місяців тому

@mananddog9884 Good question, I'd decide first if I wanted to go HVLP or airless. If I was going hvlp I'd go for a 5 stage turbine with a pot feed to the gun so you can get into tight areas, if you're going airless I'd still go gxff. If you shell out another £250 odd for a compact contractor gun you won't go wrong. It literally sits in the palm of your hand, so if you can get your hand in there, you'll get the gun in there. The standard hose that comes with gxff should be good enough for that as its quite flexible and thin but you might want to add a whip hose. 👍

I think price would be the first big difference, its possible to get an ultra max for around the £700 mark, nearly half the cost of this. I suppose there is more bulk with the ultra so difficult to get into tight spaces and it can get a bit weighty for some people if it's full of paint, also the ultramax can spit a bit so you have to buy the clean shot attachment for it. Ideal for furniture spraying... You'll only be using small amounts of paint at a time.

What makes this sprayer worth 3x the price of similar units? Does it spray that much better, more convenient, easier to use, faster to spray with? Seems VERY overpriced and I am not seeing how it is any better than the Graco/Dewalt/etc sprayers that are $300 or so with good handles/tips.

There's isn't anything on the market like it.
Electronic gun/needle, so auto shut off, no spits, no need for a Clean Shot.

@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator I have a Fuji minimite 4. I have found it to work very well in painting rooms, doors, cabients, etc. It has finer particles so in a room I run a vac with filter, but otherwise I am not sure I see the difference. They both seem to put good quality paint down fast. I know I can get much finer output than airless, but airless can spray a bit faster I guess. Just trying to argue with myself if this unit would be better to use for all my projects which include rooms, doors, cabinets, etc.. or stick with the minimite 4 and save the money.

@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator OK.. let me ask you this.. the Quickshot vs many of the "similar" piston driven options from graco, etc. The size/portability is nice, but the price makes it rough. You can find bucket piston sprayers for $300. Does this one still blow those away, if so why/how? I am not opposed to spending good money on quality tools.. but it seems most of those units dont last long.. so is this unit built like a german tank and going to lost a long time and that is part of why its more expensive as well?
