I loved as a kid how the developers included a giant statue of Jefferey from Virtua fighter to decorate the last track. It was so cool to me, I loved Sega Saturn and many of the games that made it a wonderful console.
Always looked rougher than PSX Ridge Racer, but far more complex and ambitious, and the gameplay is far superior. This remains the best home version of Daytona USA, which is really surprising. For me, the most fun I had was playing the 80-lap endurance mode of the first track with the difficulty and computer AI set to maximum. Under those conditions, you'll get spectacular 20-car pileups where cars are literally crashing and falling everywhere. It's quite the rush when it happens to you, and when you learn how to deliberately crash the other cars. Also, playing as a horse is a great bonus.
Despite the massive graphic downgrade, this game was a lot of fun in 1995. Of all the ports it plays best too. It only took Sega 15 years to get it completely right and release the HD arcade version on Xbox Live and PSN. That version is platinum. Too bad Sega Rally Championship 1995 never got the same treatment.
Technically, Sega Rally kinda did get the treatment that Daytona USA got. In japan only, a PS2 version of Sega Rally was released. However, it was just an emulated version of the Model 2 release.
The only way to play daytona is on the model 2 emu it's perfect now, xbox and PS3 version had problems with the draw distance if you look at the road ahead you see something isnt quits right it's almost like they have applied a filter to smooth it out but it look arse.
Jessie4Pink idk man i kinda perfer the 360 release over m2 emulator. i dont have a wheel nor am i willing to invest so control with the emulator feels jittery while the 360/psn port has proper analog stick support.

"Blue, blue skies I see" doesen't seem to be a "premium example" of american/english lyrics [haha], so it's most likely it was an all japanese job. Not bad after all, considering japanese people usually have some big issues with english pronunciation. The simple fact the guy can say "blue" and not "buruu" is something.

I have great memories of this game and my Saturn. Yeah it failed but I loved it and had to have one when Umk3 was released.

Good game ! The graphics are a little rough but the gameplay is solid. Belongs in every Saturn owners collection.
In '94 and '95, it looked MILES better than even Ridge Racer.
