      +Francisco At least he's not saying what one of the students in my daughter's class said (when she was a teacher's assistant): The test question was "What was Kennedy's biggest challenge during the Bay of Pigs invasion?
      The student's answer was "Whether to sleep with Marilyn Monroe or stay faithful to his wife."

    That's right, they totally left out the part where US history is all rainbows and unicorns. They never propped up any corrupt dictatorships or monarchies or did anything hypocritical with the justification that their citizens' freedom should come at the expense of others. Its really awful when Russia and China go messing around with other countries though, but the US never did or would ever do such things.

    My dad served as a fighter pilot in the Navy stationed in Cuba during this time ,bay of pigs and cuban missile crisis. My Dad disliked JFK. He lied to the American people. Not only were there missiles in ,Cuba, there was also Russian submarines in the gulf of Mexico.

    Quite an informative approach. Could have mentioned the "successful" Guatemala regime change in the 1950s at the behest of the United Fruit Company. Also, if the lessons of the fiasco had really been taken on board, the USA would not have intervened in the civil war in Vietnam, losing 50,000 troops over 15 years before the country was re-unified.Not to mention Iraq and Afghanistan.

    That is also why we failed because that we only sent no more than a few thousand troops. If we had sent at least hundreds of thousands, we would've captured that island and overthrown that communist prick Castro. Also problem was being the Cold War, Cuba sided with the Soviet Union and had to call off the invasion to prevent a nuclear war. We were close too of getting into one.

    There was a good reenactment of this event in the miniseries "The Company" (a history of the CIA). Also check out the trailer on you-tube of the movie "The Last Grenade", a movie about mercenaries. Countries use mercenaries when they want to acheive some military goal without officially being a part of the operation. (Although I'm not sure what kinds of jobs Blackwater gets hired for).

    Bay of Pigs was a disaster however it was more incompetence. President Kennedy to his credit fired those who headed the ill fated mission

    • @jamesanthony5681
      @jamesanthony5681 2 роки тому

      No. JFK didn't fire brother RFK who went to the CIA and organized the details WITHOUT getting the military involved upfront. The incompetence lies with the Kennedy brothers, but of course any failure was always due to someone else.

  • @SalsaTiger83
    @SalsaTiger83 13 років тому

    @trexx32 I do think America should legalize all drugs so that south america can go to peace more easily. But why don't they? I find it hard to blame anyone in particular, most Americans believe they need to stop drug use and trafficking. I partly blame the weapon lobbyists though. I also doubt that Mexico has any potential to set up a functional, free nation right now, even if the US magically vanished over night.

  • @ScorpioBornIn69
    @ScorpioBornIn69 12 років тому

    And if they really wanted to rid of Castro, the US would've have sent far more troops, only sending a few thousand, 1,400 of them Cuban refugies. The US should've had sent at least a hundred thousand, however there was a problem. It was the height of the Cold War and Cuba then sided with the Soviet Union, therefore Kennedy had to call off the invasion when Soviet Russia sent missles on the island knowing it would have triggered a nuclear war with the Soviets.

    it's, *"Sal??,"* is it?? well??, ok then re: the brilliant, amazing founder *OF* the amazing, *also brilliant,* world renowned *Kahn Academy!!* I mean, I did NOT remember his FULL *first* NAME, this genius..so, I *actually* thought:
    well! honestly, I had NO idea he might harbor awesome, socio-political, wisdom-wonderful beliefs, considerations and understandings..and so, how *cool* is it?? that he allowed...his brother??...cousin?? to post VIDEOS, put together by them..whoever, wherever they were stationed, on the Kahn family tree..so *generous* of him to allow that relative to teach on his own understandings.😐
    and ok, hahahaha!!🤣 b/c try as I might, I could NOT remember his *first/1st* name! even *though* I'd looked him up, *before,* on the WikiP website, probably a few years back [soon after I'd heard about his project]..therefore, I did NOT recognize that his advertised name was an *abbreviated* version/nickname of his *full* first name of, *"Salman!!"* which I *now* get, of course that, "Sal," IS 'short,' for Salman, LoLoLoL!!😆
    so, *please,* forgive me, Universe/Multiverse! and also, please forgive me, you guys here @ UA-cam, hahaha!!😄: for I 💁🏾‍♀️ *DO* understand that I've committed the most *serious* of social media sins, y'all..as delineated in this comment.👍👸🏾😁🌺
