- Often referred to as the 'Indonesian Pipeline', on some set waves you can see why it has been given that title. While the takeoff zone is much more forgiving than Pipe's first reef, this wave does have an inside bowl that can get very round.

No cannot be like Pipeline. I was a Hawaiian surfer on the North Shore of O’ahu surfing there many seasons and Pipeline can seriously injure or kill if you happen to wipeout at Pipeline anywhere along it’s impact zone and down the line as the wave develops. This wave in Indonesia is not as powerful by watching the surfers surf it. At Pipeline one mistake can be your last, and it’s no matter how good you are, how many years you’ve put to the surf spot, and wether you’re a professional surfer or a long time local Pipeline surfer. The Pipeline is not racist nor prejudice. One tiny mistake and the Pipeline will eat you alive! Aloha ke akua!!!!
Padang is a trestles drop to easy barrel with a channel. Pipe is an unpredictable drop to unpredictable tube to unpredictable inside section. Pipe can deliver the wave of your life or kill you. Padang is an easy dreamy wave.

That wave looks fun and rippable. Pipeline is scary, due to the power and the fact it’s only 3-4ft deep over a reef

NO. It’s a great barrel, but no where near the power and intensity of Pipeline. Padang is predominantly an easy roll-in, setup for the barrel, get tubed.
