It's the combination of her voice, ear, beauty and sheer stage presence. And her band was SICK! I also like that we see some of her humanity here where she did kind of go off key during the second verse but somehow didn't let it phase her and managed to seamlessly cue to give her more in the monitor. And someone just pointed out recently... she never used in-ear monitors.

@@TheRemixstress It's not a joke - it's a fact - which is why Franklin tops every music industry poll as the greatest voice in recording history - as well as being hailed as the greatest by just about every renowned singer in the pop world from the 1960s to the present day, every musician, every producer, every writer and critic - Franklin is revered and established and written into the history books as the greatest most influential and inspirational voice. Houston's output can never match Franklin's recordings - and Franklin's art form and stage presence leaves all others - including Houston - trailing in her wake. There will never be anyone like this woman, she was so far in the stratosphere with that voice it was just unimaginable. You could not turn away, you did not want it to end, and I’ll bet you she could’ve stood up there all day. !
I’m now a fan of you guys due to your appreciation of Whitney and music in general. Please react to her live performance of One Moment In Time at the Grammys. It’s a vocal showstopper!
Capt. America said it best! I always say the same - Whitney stood at a mic stand and did NOT move. Didn’t even remove the mic and brought the crowd to it’s feet almost EVERY TIME!
Speaking of the band Rickey Minor, her musical director, deserves props! They were magic together! Just a bit of fun trivia. The dress she is wearing is in her section of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture
This performance always make me want to throw my show...it moves me in so many ways!!! Sister Nippy Houston was sure on to a great thing that night, she sang her heart out!!!
It's truly tragic that such a bright light and incredibly gifted woman is no longer with us here today. She was one in a million as one those rare talents that could don't all.
@@muzimthembu453 there really is no wrong answer as both renditions are brilliant. It’s just the slow build of the wembley version to the epic climax at the end gives me goosebumps and at the verge of crying every time I hear it. The transitions from chest, head, slide bravado and multiple voice ranges to the multiple extended belts at the end is a singing masterclass imo.

What I loved about Whitney live is that she rarely sang the same version. She always threw in new runs and mixed things up.

Whitney is the GOAT! Her voice was just out of this world.
Such a tragic loss. She owned the 80's and 90's. Her and MJ ruled that era. ❤❤❤
The incomparable Whitney Houston!
The record label limited her to make her "radio friendly," so Whitney made a point of throwing the most amazing acrobatics when she performed live.
Right one of my favorite live performances of hers is when she performed “How will I know” at the VMAS she saaaang so well and turned it to church
