I bet packing up for the early morning ride in the dark was challenging. That narrow road across the open land near the water was excellent! Amazing scenery, hope there are a lot more episodes in this series. I also love the sheep call, lol. Thank you Kevin!
Oh what a great ride with such beautiful countryside! I needed this lovely ride after emptying out my mother in laws condo after Hurricane Helene left sea water throughout it! She is 94 and accumulated tons of belongings and we had to throw away a lot of her keepsakes and photos. So sad but you have helped us escape to lovely Scotland!
Thank you, thank you. I was glad for another episode tonight. We were flooded with Hurricane Helene and just sat down to rest tonight after cleaning up part of the mess. Exactly what I need.
Thanks Kevin, the ferry looked quite plush and with great food also, it did look very rough but beautiful also. Great fun as always. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Another stellar episode, thank you, sir! You arrived in a different world on Harris for sure…amazingly lovely & wild as you say. Your sheep🐑 mimic is spot-on, cracks me up every time🤣. All the best!
I feel like you tease as sitting here admiring the views and thinking how smooth that road is until the end bit and then you are gone. Oh well roll on next Friday 😏😏👌👌💕💕
Hi Kevin, Your ferry crossing looked pleasant with clean surroundings and with the all important breakfast and coffee. I didn’t realise North Harris was so bleak and wild. Certainly not spoiled by flocks of tourists. Just sheep! Although island sheep are usually quite blasé about traffic, you always get one or two who run ahead of you. Hoping South Harris will be more picturesque. Am still looking forward to seeing the renowned beaches. Hope the weather improves. 😀
Harris. What a spectacular place even with that heavy sky. The best of the islands you have shown so far. Bet it looks super stunning in the sunshine. One for the bucket list and really looking forward to next week’s episode to see more of it. 🏕️
Cheers Glenn and yes, there was a definite cutting chill to the air. Was pleased to get into the warmth of the ferry, and a rewarding coffee and sausage sandwich. 🙂
It was like travelling in 5 star luxury for sure amd especially compared to the previous ferries. The coffee and sausage sandwich were just what was needed.
Another great video, Gent. 👍A friend and I paid a visit there on our 1150 GSAs about 16 years ago, and we loved it. We had a great night out in the Isle of Harris Inn in Tarbert. That video brought back some great memories. Everything is exactly the same as I remember it. Not much has changed in 16 years. 😊 Thank you. 🤝
Very pleased to hear it brought back some great memories. In fact your comment reminded me of my old 1150 Adventure, from before I bought the 1200. In many several ways a far superior bike, if a bit on the heavier side 🙂
Hey Kevin. Looks like it was a dreary day but being on a bike makes it a little better, if you have the right gear on that is...lol. Being from the states, I love the experiencing a totally new part of the world, the culture, the environment, scenery...even if it is being experienced vicariously. 👍Thanks for take me along. Take care.
I've been to Coll and Mull, but not to any of the Outer Hebridean isllands. Fascinating to see the difference. As you say Harris has a wild look. Wonderful! And that ferry was somethig else! Looking forward to more spectacular views next week. Thanks Kevin.
If you come across some small rivers on your travels, look out for Wild Salmon leaping up some small falls and rapids. Its a magical sight that I've been lucky to see in the Hebrides.
Selling England by the Pound “ I Know What I Like ( in your wardrobe) - did I hear your reference correctly? It’s 7 o’clock and not time for lunch, dumb dee dumb Dee dumb. Very SMOOTH
Next week I’ll be watching the Genesis cover band “The Musical Box” perform Selling England by the Pound start to finish celebrating the 50th anniversary. They’ve received Gabriel and Collins approval. If you get the chance check them out. Good stuff
Hey! Hey! Hey! It's Friday! I have never seen such a posh ferry. We don't have ones like those here in Seattle/ the Pacific NW. It's like some sort of boutique lounge. Another pretty ride, herding sheep and all.🐑🐑 Thanks for sharing and stay safe out there -Cheers from Seattle!
Evening kevin. Wow! 4 in the morning??? Now that is early. I was so hoping that shop would open for you, that then made me think of petrol, drinking water and well just essentials. You really could end up in trouble if you don't plan ahead. Mum always said "keep a tin of corned beef in the cupboard, you can always make something out of it even if it's just a sandwich" i guess your lifestyle teaches you to keep something in the cupboard just incase. Thanks Kevin, another great video. All the best for a lovely weekend, Floss and Jan.
I followed Steve Marsh the other week on this very route but he was in his Toyota. I felt the wind in my face on the pillion of your BMW Kevin. Thank you. Good on ya Mate! Oh I was wondering I hope you didn't lick his toe....Ho ho.
Loving the trip, great entertainment. The sheep on the road is like here but, going to my get away from Tucson Arizona to Puerto Penasco Mexico, it's donkeys. Lots and lots of wild donkeys. lol
South Harris is stunning! The beaches are like what you would expect to see in the Caribbean until as Billy Connelly once said " until the water reaches your scrotum then you know you are in Scotland!" Meant to ask Kevin, what is your mic setup? I've tried a lot and tend to get a muffled sound or too much wind noise. Currently got a wireless mic attached to my helmet strap which seems to be working although still a lot of background noise. Yours seems just the right balance.
Loving the new series of you on the motorcycle slightly faster than Aslan I have to ask how did you manage to pack away your tent and accoutrements in the pitch black field
Really enjoyed this video Kevin, had a bit of a giggle at your dithering about the shop whether to wait or go, beautiful countryside as you would expect, I guess you will be partaking in some Stornoway black pudding very soon, stay safe and ride well.
For anyone in UK "Island Crossings" on iplayer is a series on Calmac operations. It was a BBC Scotland series so may be unknown to many, but well worth a watch.
another excellent video, Kevin -- was going to watch the first couple minutes and then do some vital household tasks, afterward returning to the Scottish journey, but became so engrossed in your early-morning ferry ride that I wound up watching the whole episode...the Scottish: if they wish to be understood, why don't they just speak plainly?
Familiar sight as there are multiple ferries running around the Puget Sound in Washington State. They are deceptively fast- esp if one wanders into their path…😅 Did you mean there was an actual bagpipe playing in your campsite?? That’s memorable! Lol
Yes, at the end of the previous episode I was trying to get an early night because the ferry was early in the morning, but there were loud bagpipes playing next to my tent until 9:30 at night. 🤗
At least you did not fire up a big noisy Harley in the wee wee hours. The classic throaty growl and rumble of a Harley at ear splitting decibels. But then the bagpiper would have deserved it!
The geology oh Harris is very different than that of Lewis. Harris is predominantly volcanic rock. Where as Lewis is flatter with much grazing and farming land, less volcanic soil.
Good Video Kevin, I’m dying to know which of the Black puddings (Macleod and Macleod or Charles Macleod) you preferred? Also the MV Hebrides has had a small makeover inside from the days I was using her. (Thankfully) Those are sea lochs btw. Hebrides has them aplenty. Along with religion. East coasters like myself are a bit caught out with that. Last two sheep were thinking ‘Oh yeah, a GSA..” Bike sounding good.👍🏻 Col. P.S. to the other comment about why we Scot’s don’t speak clearly when we want to be understood. Well I’d love the opportunity to show him that we can….😉

Thank you, Kevin, for sharing your adventures. Always enjoyable!
Nice! What a great decision you made to keep going. Wild = Wonderful. Many thanks, as always, for a lovely ride.
Superb ferry, some wild scenery, cattle grids, sheep, great video.
Love the commentary especially the moments when you have to decide whether or not to go to the shop.
I bet packing up for the early morning ride in the dark was challenging. That narrow road across the open land near the water was excellent! Amazing scenery, hope there are a lot more episodes in this series. I also love the sheep call, lol. Thank you Kevin!
Yes it's a definite skill packing up camp in total pitch darkness. Yes there are many many more episodes to come. Cheers 🙂
Thank you for sharing your trip with us! I enjoy seeing a landscape that I may never get to visit in person. --Your # 1 fan in the USA
Stunning and seems like the most remote so far! Kevin your footage is amazing and your sheep call ha!
Just binge watched Jammy Gits and now I'm binging on Country House Gent and on Sunday Itchy Boots is back!
I see on the news the damage from the hurricane is devastating, and many have died as well from a road collapse. Sending best thoughts and wishes.
Wonderful drive! Each time you take a ferry, I look it up on my map to see where you’ve gone. A bit of an education which is nice.
Great to hear you're enjoying the road trip, thank you.
Hi Kevin. That definitely was an early start. Glad that the shop opened on time. The roads looked really good. Take care. Nick
Hi Kevin great video, I can't wait for next week's video.
Take care until next time ❤ X X X
Thank you Susan
Thank you, thank you. I was glad for another episode tonight. We were flooded with Hurricane Helene and just sat down to rest tonight after cleaning up part of the mess. Exactly what I need.
Sorry to hear that Penny. I've seen the floods on the news. Must be the season for it now but not something you ever get used to I'd say. Best wishes,
Hi thankyou,I enjoyed the video again ,I will watch you next week take care.
Cheers Carol.
Another hour of lovely relaxing viewing, days 16 n 17.. Thank you Kevin
Great to hear that Andy, thank you.
Nice ferry (MV Hebrides)! Very rugged but stunningly beautiful wilderness! Thx CHG!!
Thanks Kevin, the ferry looked quite plush and with great food also, it did look very rough but beautiful also. Great fun as always. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Yes it was almost like being on a cruise liner. 🙂
Another stellar episode, thank you, sir! You arrived in a different world on Harris for sure…amazingly lovely & wild as you say. Your sheep🐑 mimic is spot-on, cracks me up every time🤣. All the best!
Cheers Mark. Harris is a stark contrast to the previous islands. Little sign of tourism and just as nature made it.
awesome, thanks for sharing.
Not much sun but still very beautiful.. Great video as always.
I feel like you tease as sitting here admiring the views and thinking how smooth that road is until the end bit and then you are gone. Oh well roll on next Friday 😏😏👌👌💕💕
Surprisingly different landscape 👍

Yes Harris is a stark contrast to the previous islands - less touristy and more how nature made it. A bit on the windy side as well. 😳
Thanks!
Thank you so much for that, most appreciated. 🙂
I love your films! You have a documentarian’s eye, or a filmmaker’s eye anyway. Thanks for bringing some sunshine to my day 🎉. The Orkneys … oh boy 😊
Harris. What a spectacular place even with that heavy sky. The best of the islands you have shown so far. Bet it looks super stunning in the sunshine. One for the bucket list and really looking forward to next week’s episode to see more of it. 🏕️
I can highly recommend putting Harris on a tour of the Hebrides, Helen.
Nice one Kevin. Looked bloody cold in those early hours of the morning 😇 🤗
Cheers Glenn and yes, there was a definite cutting chill to the air. Was pleased to get into the warmth of the ferry, and a rewarding coffee and sausage sandwich. 🙂
Thats the most clean and well maintained ferry I have ever seen. I bet their coffee and breakfasts are high quality. :)
It was like travelling in 5 star luxury for sure amd especially compared to the previous ferries. The coffee and sausage sandwich were just what was needed.
Thanks for another interesting trip, Kevin. Now I’m gonna finish catching up and watch the one you posted today.
A pleasure as always Lynette and I hope you enjoy todays.
Beautiful countryside
Excellent. Friday is here….And so is CHG! Part 17? Time flies. ❤️

Kevin, we are hoping for sunny days. Everyone needs a sprinkle of water to make things grow 😊, Charlie from Pennsylvania
Blimey was that a Caledonian Ferry ? They have improved them a lot since the last time I went on one.
Great commentary and filming Kevin 👍
Nice early start another great video Kevin thank you

Looks freezing cold, but interesting scenery.
It's Fri-yeah!!!🎉
At least the sheep seem more sensible than deer, who like to jump out in front of things for some reason or other... Dire cl...what? 🤣
Oh no! I have to wait a week for the unveiling of that most 'Harris' of dishes - the much-lauded Curried Meatballs. Sigh...

Very true especially on Harris. If that shop hadn't opened on the bank holiday, my plans for that day would've had to change.

It was simply down to practice and familiarity - as well a torch I held in my mouth. 😁

Yes it was a struggle to make a firm decision which way to proceed. Indeed, the first of the black puddings coming soon. 🙂
Huzzah!
Thanks Kevin
You're very welcome Frank.
Kevin, is that you playing the slide blues guitar in your intro? Very nice! I think Duane Allman would definitely approve. 👍👍
Unfortunately not but a tune from the UA-cam Creator Library I remixed to suit. 😎

In my experience they do. He no doubt realized he wasnt dealing with a fare dodger and at 4am why would you critisize anyone doing their job?
Love the video, just wandering why you don't use a ground sheet under your tent?
Good question. Not sure really though the built in ground sheet is very strong and water resistant.

A square sausage is new to me. I'll look out for that one. 🙂
