    I have a worcester 15/19 fuel oil boiler and it's been going for years virtually without fault. it's always serviced and the tank is always topped up and never allowed to run low. had a guy come out and install some new radiators and flush the system and he commented on how quiet the boiler is! it may not be the most efficient when you compare it to today's fare but I'm more than happy with it.

      If they still made them, I’d still install them👍🏻

    Sam get it serviced they will change the nozzle at the end.. But that won't be the issue, it's a fine line between oil pressure and air mix.. You need a analyser (which is a computer with a probe)and a gauge . The the co2 will be set to about 11/11.5 and all will be fine.. Cost you about £90+ 6 for a nozzle and maybe you need a oil line by now

    Sam turn it off..it will fill with soot.. You may turned the wrong screw/Allen which will change the pressure.. It needs to be set up with a oil gauge and a analyser. Either that or mucks blocked it as it's got so low.. But my money on the first option.. Phone a oftec engineer

  • @samshort3932
    @samshort3932 8 років тому

    Yeah I had too turn it off in the end as it started to fill the room with smoke some times if you leave them for a bit they clear them selfs but this one won't do you think it could be the jet and it's putting to much oil in someone said your ment to change them every year but I haven't done this one for about 9 years just hope I don't need a new one

  • @GHancock
    @GHancock  8 років тому

    I used to but found 9 out of 10 spotless, especially on plastic tanks, so to save customers money, now change if flow rate weak or any muck on filter at the nozzle

    My landlord has refused to service boiler as I have no oil and can't afford it, the landlord has stated until we have oil they are not sending anyone to repair property, can a oil boiler be serviced without oil? Can the engineer put a bit of oil in to just service it?

    • @GHancock
      @GHancock  Рік тому

      No you will need oil, it will take more than a little bit to get a true pressure reading and make sure it’s burning correct Co2 for your safety.

    Ever experienced internal blockages with the worcester heatslaves? I have a random flow issue not pump or diverter related where the CH is called and pipes either side of the pump are cool but very hot water comes from pipe behind boiler through to the heat store and then out the heat store to the diverter valve so reverse.

    • @GHancock
      @GHancock  5 років тому +1

      5 Minute Man sounds strange. If there is a blockage usually the braided hose to the vessel will be jamed solid.. these thing gather faster than a magna clean.

    • @fiveminuteman
      @fiveminuteman 5 років тому

      @@GHancock thanks for coming back.The behaviour is odd as it wont always do it.HW is fine no problems. I'll take a look at the hose.

    • @fiveminuteman
      @fiveminuteman 5 років тому

      @@GHancock Think I finally nailed the problem as I didn't know the heat exchanger has a check valve. Looks like it's failed and that's why I have this weird water flow when the CH is on.

    what did you actually do to get the CO2 to 11.5% - you said it was running to 'clean' did you adjust the air intake?

    • @GHancock
      @GHancock  3 роки тому

      Once the oil pressure is set, the rest is done from air intake, more air lower the co2 within reason, take away the air Co2 goes higher.. this needs to be done with a analyser, get this wrong and it can soot up the boiler and even kill people, so it’s important to get it running as per manufacture instructions

      Lack of servicing or incorrect mixer of oil vs air… I’d get it looked at or it will all soot up

    I have this boiler and the same burner. The service instructions seem to indicate that the electrode tips should be set back 3mm from the end of the nozzle. However, in the video (which is great by the way), you seem to have them flush with the end of the nozzle. Does this matter?

    • @GHancock
      @GHancock  4 роки тому

      Mel Smith there will be set distance in the book from the nozzle face and the gap on the electrode, the spark rolls forward, a thin metal ruler is great for setting these.. but if it fires fine and there is no sign of damage on the nozzle. I’d leave it a loan

    • @MS-yy2dh
      @MS-yy2dh 4 роки тому

      Thanks for taking the time to reply. What sort of damage might there be to the nozzle? Boiler seemed to fire OK but I did note that the nozzle had a dark deposit on it. I did replace the nozzle but again set the electrodes back from the end of the nozzle by 3mm and at the appropriate gap (as shown in the instructions).

    we have a greenstar 25/32 our issues is, in the morning is set to turn the heater on, using a Honeywell programmer , so it fires up as per programmer time, then run for about 2 mins then goes off, and it wont start again, until i scroll down the wireless wall thermostat to zero then back to 25, then it fires up again.
    this only happening in the morning, during the day it switches on and off normal as per the programmer set. any advice?

    • @GHancock
      @GHancock  Рік тому

      Honeywell timers have a little click as they turn on (depending on the model) this will rule out the relays on the actual timer first. Then I would look at the zone valves. Sounds external to the boiler but hard to say with out knowing the exact set up.

    • @petinyiri
      @petinyiri Рік тому

      @@GHancock thanks, I can hear the click when the heating starts, one outlet waterpipe goes hot, but after a few mins the burner stops. its like some kind of vale wont let the hot water through somewhere.

      we have had the descaler a long time, I think Kamco do do one. our chemical dillute 1-5 water, but keep it away from stainless steel secondary heat exchangers. Its bright green the scalebreaker. hope this helps

    firing the burner or running the burner out side of the combustion chamber and not disconnecting the burner harness is an Oftec assessment faliure.
    the fault could have been diagnosed with the burner in situ.
    never use a chisel towards your body i have seen many an injury from chisels and screwdrivers to the stomach.
    Amino fatty acids from human fingers will cause photocells to break when exposed to high temps of the burner lame, so use a lint free cloth.
    the video is very informative but please use best working practices when working.

      @GHancock  8 років тому +10

      God I'm glad I don't sit next to in the pub..photo cells are not the same as a halogen bulb and will not make a difference if you touch them..oftec rules do not apply in training conditions...chisels, I'm just going live wild and take that dangerous risk of scraping towards me..there's plenty of people out there that talk the job...then there's the folk that fix things😜
