i have a love hate relationship with that jeter card. when i was 7 or 8 my dad took me to my first card show to look for that specific card only and we found one. only for the seller to rip me off and sell me a reprint. luckily with me being so excited at the time showed the card off at every table i went to and someone noticed it and he took me to the guy and i got my money back and that gentleman gave me an authentic version of the card free of charge.
93 was the last year i was buying cards regularly. I bought the complete factory set boxes of 93 Topps and 93 Upper Deck at a Sam's Club for cheap and then decided to quit the addiction cold turkey. In 2020 i decided to resume, but focus on just cards of my two favorite players, the "men of steal" Lou Brock and Rickey Henderson. All my other cards are in storage.
1:51 - "Mike Piazza's worth $2 and going up." Not to be pedantic, but the arrow means it WENT up, not that it's going up. But fun break, overall. I was just looking through my Black Gold cards last week.
These are some of my favorite videos because I am 14 and I learn so much about the history of baseball when you go through theses packs and telling stories about the players and your memories about them. I hope you never stop making videos about baseball Erik!
I love these throwback vids! This reminds me of the time I pulled a Larkin rookie out of an 800 count box that my Aunt got me for Christmas a couple of years ago.
In 96, I was maybe 12/13 and waiting for my mom to pick me up from the card store. The owner ended up giving me a box of 93 Topps, I guess because I looked so sad sitting on the curb after my allowance wasn’t enough for the Mantle or Mays I was probably eyeing. Ended up getting 4 Jeter rookies, one of which was gold. That season, Jeter started taking off, and it sparked my fever. I went after his cards and ended up with every one of them made, up until 98/99. Ah, memory lane.
I remember when Darryll Kile passed away in the summer of 2002. I watched a memorial on tv broadcast from Busch Stadium in St. Louis. I cried while watching it plus after seeing shots of his family thinking how much grief and pain they endured during that sudden passing of a father, husband and really good baseball pitcher.
Topps was perfect for kids. Priced right. Then and now. Did a lot of boxes of the football and basketball that year. Enough for multiple sets anyway. I was 12, the design is nostalgic for all of us collecting then that were kids then.
I pulled the same Ray Lankford black gold card as a kid! Back then Ray was an up-and-coming phenom, but ended up just a decent player. I still have that card in my closet in a top loader.
Ah 1993. What a year to be a youngster. Ya know our parents talk about 1968 being a wild year. Think about it for a second. All the stuff going on in 1993. Certainly not as crazy as 1968, but 1993 is the closest thing us Millennials or younger Gen Xers have to compare. Thanks for your hard work Eric. Doing a great job.
600+ homers should get you in the HOF no matter what. Being born in in '82 the Sosa, McGwire, Bonds hr chase years were really the golden age of my baseball fandom and those 3 made many people related to the game tons of money.
This was a great TBT. Nice pull of the Jeter RC. I also bought packs from this set that year while in college and got very lucky to pull a Jeter RC plus a Jeter Gold RC. Both are sleeved plus protected inside RC Top Loaders.
Man, I redeemed a few Black Gold cards back in the day, I think I still have a few expired A+B & D+E cards. They actually look pretty cool. I think the reason we went ape over those inserts back when we were kids because we were starrrrving for parallels and inserts in a hobby that had yet to start adopting that model.
Not a glamorous choice, but Topps Total was a favorite of mine when they were out. Since my son and I would hang out after games to get autographs, the stock and texture of them where ideal for any type of pen or marker.
You might need a breaker's mat. I am actually working on a handmade mat made with yarn and using a needlepoint cross stitch technique. If you were interested, we could work something out. Take care of yourself and your family.
Hey buddy...i really enjoy your channel it has inspired me to start to build my very small sad collection ..lost more than 70% over the years. Im learning a lot dew to you and your channel it's so fun watching you open boxs old new and the ones id never be able to pay for on my own it a real treat for me..me and my father loved ripping boxs ..it was our thing if i did well in school or did well in little League birthday gift best of times...anyway thank you im really goin try to be more involved in your channel ....ill wave if i notice you at PNC park...lets go Bucs.👺⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾
I liked this break, I like the gold cards. I,m still looking to finish my gold cards set. I have two Jeter gold cards and Griffey Jr. gold cards, Bonds gold card, Bagwell, Jason Kendall gold cards, Piazza/Carlos Delgado gold, Nolan Ryan too name a few, and a whole lot more. I think I have a Griffey Jr/ Andy Van Slyke I have to see. I even have the gold winners cards. One pack of gold winners still sealed with Nolan Ryan on either the front or the back I can't remember I have to see. Also some Topps McDonald's gold cards two packs unopened with Jeff Bagwell on the front, Ken Griffey Jr. Bonds, and a lot more. Thanks for airing that year. Have a great day.
I love throwback Thursday! Great stuff man! I was a young teenager during this time and had just gotten into collecting a few years prior. Could you imagine getting your hands on some 1993 Upper Deck SP and chasing that Jeter rookie? I think those hobby boxes run $2200-$2400 a box. Crazy!
Alright Man, Love your channel for a couple reasons. 1. I'm originally from Tarentum. 2. You open the type of boxes I do, cheap fun stuff that is worth next to nothing. 3. You are a Pirates fan. Keep it up!
Awesome video. Love the 1993 card. Had a couple of Jeter rookies but sold them off years ago. Wish I would have keep them. And I really don't care if you point out of the player is a hall of Famer or not. Not sure why that upsets people.
You’re one of my idols on UA-cam I look up to you your videos are amazing like I say all the time but it’s the truth keep up the great work I always enjoy seeing your videos on my feed much support
I found one of these going through my childhood commons, was a nice surprise. I quit in the early nineties as well, it was kind of a shock to find this with the random no names of the era.
I got my Jeter rookie about 3 years ago for $6 and have treasured it ever since! It was on my wantlist for so long, it felt amazing to finally get it. But to pull one from a pack would be super amazing though!
I got these back in 5th grade. I won the A/B black gold cards insert card. I have them all from pack to plastic. You make me want to dust off some binders...
i actually pulled the redemption card for the full set of topps black gold from my factory set i got in 1993. wish they were still as valuable as they were back then!
I pulled a Topps Black Gold Certified Winner ABCD card as a kid; I'd completely forgotten about it till I saw this video. I was going to head to my parents' house to grab a few cards anyway (Lee Smith and Edgar Martinez rc's), maybe I'll see if I can find the Black Gold set while I'm there.
I hate to tell you this but that box was searched!! I have a video on my feed of opening a couple boxes of 93 Topps....the gold cards were in the middle not the front
Yo I have a complete set(825 cards) of 1993 series 1 and 2 box unopened and also 1993 series 1 box unopened as well. Should I open them. Not sure what to do with them
I got the 90 Fleer set today for $3. Had all the cards but the Frank Thomas (of course). Was searched but everything else seemed to be there, including the Uribe!
Did you see that Topps Montogomery set that is like 1000 bucks. That would make a cool video if you could get your hands on that Hope you are feeling better man. I collect cards but only old ones. I just completed the 1955 Topps Double Fold set. Has the Banks....and Killebrew cards,,,,,you should check out that set.....THE CARDS ARE SO COOL

Bro the Kirby Puckett eye injury almost made me sick. Was watching that game on ESPN that night. The replays were gruesome man. Those Black Golds were cool. Had the 1993-94 basketball set. Via a couple of redemption cards. Still have it somewhere.
i have a love hate relationship with that jeter card. when i was 7 or 8 my dad took me to my first card show to look for that specific card only and we found one. only for the seller to rip me off and sell me a reprint. luckily with me being so excited at the time showed the card off at every table i went to and someone noticed it and he took me to the guy and i got my money back and that gentleman gave me an authentic version of the card free of charge.

I got 2 Jeters when I was a kid. I had no idea how valueable they would grow to be. Glad I kept them safe all these years!
1:51 - "Mike Piazza's worth $2 and going up." Not to be pedantic, but the arrow means it WENT up, not that it's going up.

These older packs bring back a lot of memories. Thank you.
Nothing like watching while having dinner!!!
I like how you show the prices from the year you open the cards from.
I love these throwback vids! This reminds me of the time I pulled a Larkin rookie out of an 800 count box that my Aunt got me for Christmas a couple of years ago.
That’s what the channel does best ,bring back happy memories!
I love how you always have the price guides for these throwback vids. Awesome feature
I love these TBT videos as it reminds me of cards I have always wanted but forgotten about. Looking forward to the next video!
This brings back good memories of an awkward era that Im proud to have witnessed. Great times and i love these cards.

1993 Topps is a pretty nice looking design. Enjoy seeing these cards again.
