If Blizzard buffed all "discard a card at random" cards to "discard a card of your choice" would Warlock be too strong?
Will Houldy cards like silverware golem and Clutchmother Zavas would become incredibly strong, and not discarding any of your combo pieces would make Discardlock ridiculous.
Will Houldy I think it would be incredibly consistent. For some matches that could be too strong.
Will Houldy Yes. Most other online card games discard by ethier highest cost or lowest cost. But to be allowed the choice would completely ruin the disadvantages that come with discard.
Will Houldy my thought was that discard mechanics would require you to discard specifically spells or minions, that way you have a bit more control over what gets discarded. For example, soulfire would be discard a spell, but darkshire librarian would be discard a minion. To balance this though, I would say things that discard a spell would have to discard the spell in order to be played. That way zoo wouldn't just run 1 mana deal 4 damage with no downside.
It should be a consistent criteria (like the highest cost card or the lowest cost, or the one on the furthest left or something). Then you could at least play around it a little better.

Swamp King Dred did not attack Deathwing because Battlecries take place before the minion comes into play. We can see this in other examples: If you have Sword of Justice equipped and you play a minion whose battlecry summons another minion, the battlecry goes off first and the minion summoned by effect gets the buff first. If you only have one charge of your weapon left, only the summoned minion will get the buff, not the played one. So by the time Deathwing was in play, Dred was already ded
Your result is correct, but your reasoning is not. Minions always enter play before Battlecries take place.
Your example works like this:
Sword of Justice is in play with one charge left.
Murloc Tidecaller is played.
1) 2 mana is paid and a summon event is created
2) On Play effects trigger (none)
3) Murloc Tidecaller is now in play
4) Battlecry triggers
4.1) A summon event is created for the 1/1 Murloc
4.2) After Summon effects trigger (Sword of Justice is destroyed)
5) After play effects trigger (none)
6) After Summon effects trigger (none, because Sword of Justice is already gone)
Most of the time, this subtle difference doesn't matter. It does for example, when you are playing Dr. Boom on a board with 3 minions while the opponent has Sacred Trial up. There is no After Play phase for summoned units, so Dr. Boom himself is destroyed, which makes sense, since he did enter play before the Boombots.
Another example would be playing Dr. Boom into an opposing Mirror Entity, which results in the opponent getting a Dr. Boom.

you play discard warlock. What do you think about clutchmother zavas? I've started a new Account so I might need some dust... Should I keep zavas or not?
in another video where he played quest warlock he said clutchmother is good in more aggressive quest warlock lists but his are more control oriented and it doesnt fit as well
The issue with Zavas is that if you get her in the early game she can be insanely powerful and if you draw her in the mid-late game she's absolutely terrible. Plus you have the randomness of the discard mechanics on top of it. If discolock ever truly becomes "a thing" then she'll probably make the list but you'd have to decide for yourself how interested you are in that (although honestly the collector in me couldn't dust anything I don't already have max copies of).
If only this were an epic card it would be so much better, purely because of consistency issues. I know you could say that about most legendaries but it doesn't hit most of them quite as hard as it does Zavas.
Matteo Schnelle I got zavas since day1 ungoro, tried her alot but as someone stated above, the randomness of discard make her really weak. you need extreme RNG to get her strong, like draw early, discard exactly out of randomness, able to play her when you need mana to heropower+discard asap, tbh, she pretty weak now.
but since new expansion coming out, you may keep her for a month, see whether it will be viable in new meta or not

Apparently Kibler said that Zavas is good in agro discard decks but not in control decks.
he protec, he attac, but most importantly... he a part of this balanced breakfast.
I found it sad how hunter quest deck was worse than the generic midrange deck. I think 7 1 drops is to high of a price. I even landed the dream hemet, carnassa, and tundra rino on turn 7 and still just lost the game LOL

he needed to secure the board presence, from a situation where he had it and needed to keep it(against a priest), not the board where things have gone bad.
Therefore, he needed the attack on HIS turn, because priest can heal his minions whilst warlock can't, and dealing one damage to a target with a 5 cost minion isn't very reliable
Therefore, he would get into trouble in many other ways which you would just see or understand when you will just have more experience, I guess.
Not trying to be mean whatsoever, just wanted to clarify.

Cosmin Stefan : Tapping is good, tapping into a second twist, killing all discard in hand isnt. Had he taken lurker he would have had 2 4 attack taunts with large health pools against priest. He didnt need 5 extra damage, he has portal already, he just needed to secure board control. I have plenty of experience, quest warlock has been my most played deck this expansion
