Among his positively endless array of endearing features, nothing about Brian "please don't call me 'Brian "Brian Kibler" Kibler'" Kibler warms the cockles of my heart more than his unfaltering commitment to Quest Warlock. We'll make it great one day, Bri-Bri. One day.
yeah, discard kinda needs work like, in magic, theres two kinds of discard, random, and selected maybe make the 3/6 that discards when damaged, random, and make any spells or battlecry, pull up the discover selector, and have it 3 cards from your hand that way, you have more say in the matter, annnd you can still get 3 cards you dont want to discard and have to choice also, this opens up more design space, like, soulfire, is it random, or is it discover? i think it would be cool

Is it crazy that i was just watching Kiblers first video on Nether portal from back in April when I got this notification? Maybe, but not as crazy as beating meta face hunter with Discard-Lock
I certainly see why the Warlock Quest didn't take off, but I think the argument could be made that the Hunter Quest is actually worse. It's so at odds with what the deck (and Hunters in general) want to accomplish that it's almost impossible for it to ever be good. The Warlock Quest, on the other hand, can be salvaged by really good discard-related cards. Either way, none hold a candle to Galvadon, The Last Kaleidosaur (ba da da dum dum!)
Hunter Quest was good in theory, but the execution was flawed. To complete it fast enough for it to make a difference, you have to fill your deck with weak minions with poor lategame potential. Seven minions to complete the quest was excessive. Despite being decent bodies, Carnassa and the raptors don't provide that much swing. Still, tweaks can make the quest tolerable. Warlock Quest was DOA. Discard is extremely self-destructive not only for regular play for also for the quest itself. What if you discard a discard card? You cannot complete the quest. The completed quest card can be discarded accidentally before you can play it. No matter how sweet the reward, the discard mechanic was way too risky to be worth making a quest around. Adding more discard-related cards will only make it hurt more when discard dodges them and removes your next play. It is not a worthwhile solution. Paladin Quest was too slow, but it was meant to be a low-risk, low-reward quest. Blizzard expected Buffadin to be a thing anyway. Galvadon was more like a bonus than a win condition unto itself. That theory was clearly false, but it could have been easily fixed with better buffing cards.
Don't forget, the actual reward for the warlock quest is garbage. Where other classes get an insane instant effect or a HUGE minion for 5 mana, warlocks get a portal that takes up THREE slots of limited space on the board!!! And what for? A noninteractive portal and two flame imps! Even after jumping through a lot of hoops, the reward rarely matters. Two 3/2s has almost zero impact on the board.
They should change DIScard to a DIScover mechanic. Two ideas. 1. Discover a card from your hand, discard it. 2. You get an option for the leftmost card in your hand, option for the rightmost card, or option for a random card in your hand (currently how it works)
A cheeky buff for this Quest would be to either lower the mana cost, or simply make the portal summoned as soon as the quest is completed (aside from buffing the Imps). Having really enjoyed crazy Howlfiend + Defile + Clutchmother plays it's a shame Lakkari Sacrifice has a big chance of being discarded since it's added to your hand.
I see the sugesstion to chose what cards you discard. But I think that would just benefit zoo or make warlock severly overpowered. I think I got a better solution, value discards. The big problem in a discard heavy deck is sitting there at turn 2-4 in a game that will go on 15 turns but eventualy just play into the enemy hand, because you discarded your key cards before you have a chance to play them. This would bring the one factor hearthstone is all about, decision making, while still preserving the high risk of discard. So, for instance (and to kinda clear what I mean) you play a 2-cost discard it will primarly select a 2-cost or below to discard. And if you play that same minion in a hand of 5-costs it is still gonna discard one card, lakari felhound and doomguard will still always discard 2 cards but if possible not above what is costs to play them I think this would be the best way for discards to work, because a big issue with it being entirely random is that you never get the chance to play some of the cards, and that removes a lot of decision making and planning aspect of the game Ps. I left after writing about half the comment and returned later. So it might seem . . . Oddly written
Bruckner's Symphonies make the best use of horns; I dated a French horn player in college and Bruckner's 7th was his absolute favorite, especially 2nd movement (Bruckner was a fan of Richard Wagner, and he was working on the 2nd movement when word reached him that Wagner had died; the latter part of the movement was his elegy for Wagner).
Malchezaars Imp would be ridiculously overpowered if it was powered to magic. Like inervate would be nice, but there is lots of fast mana in magic (depending on format), but drawing for every discard would utterly break the game.
Really liking the vids and learning a lot as a returning player! (But please, if you must click constantly, please at least do so in time with the music.)
Selecting the discards would be an interesting mechanic in small doses. Maybe another option would be more cards that add disposable, low-value tokens to the hand. Discarding those wouldn't be so bad.
JavaJaxRex i think another thing they should consider would be to give certain cards (for example bloodqueen) the tag “cannot be discarded“, so that your wincondition won't just get killed by rng
Now I'm sitting here crying because I disenchanted both Lakkari Sacrifice, Blood Queen, and Cluthmother. Only to see Kibler play this deck a month later;-;
I actually still have all three sitting in my collection (and my blood queen is golden), so I'm sorely tempted to experiment with this. I'd probably get crushed pretty consistently though.
Discard Warlock would be good if you could choose what cards you discard. The way it works now you have to get lucky in either discarding the right cards or your opponent having a bad start.
It's crazy how good the quest is when you get it off early and don't get completely screwed by the discards. The ultimate value generator...too bad it sucks most of the time. :(
Can you guys help me, this deck looks like so much fun, but i am limited in dust, i can craft the deck but i wouldn't have much left, I would like to know if this deck is viable in all ranks or is it too inconsistent?
Sadly, it is very inconsistent... discard as a mechanic is far too random as of right now, and if you are looking for a good deck, i advice you against it If on the other hand you just don't give a fuck about how fast you ladder and just want some fun, go you :)
Benjamin Aslak Falkesgaard Nørgaard Not really man, when they nerf specific cards it just hurts one or 2 meta decks. And a whole deck gets stronger because of it, not any individual card.
"They can't afford to spend resources fixing old cards when they could just make new cards." That's the line you'll get anyway, which is obviously false. Did they really need to print Evil Heckler and Ice Rager, couldn't just buff Booty Bay Bodyguard and Magma Rager? Is a minor buff to something like Friendly Bartender going to throw the meta into chaos? There are simple fixes that could obviously be applied to many cards which are too weak to see play without requiring much at all in the way of testing (relative to new cards anyway), they just don't want to do it for reasons.
because blizzard needs to make money selling new cards so they are fine keeping a certain amount of deck archetypes as optimal and others not. its also an engine constriction because hearthstone is on phones and tablet devices they dont want to patch the game unless absolutely necessary in the case of nerfs.
Atlas Don't you dare say that. I had the same mindset in the Un'Goro expansion, but once I kept discarding my Jaraxxus, or discarding and drawing 50% of my deck with little to no benefit, its the most fustrating experience in Hearthstone. Discolock is basically a 24/7 salt factory that you can't leave.
I'm having fun with Deathtrap Hunter; climbed from 20 to 17 today after being stuck on 20 most of the month. A bunch of secrets plus Huntress/Putricide; you keep Huntress alive till turn 4 then play Putricide and all the secrets you can and end up with the Christmas tree. If you've got an active Eaglehorn Bow even better -- can get up to 6 or 7 swings total if you're lucky.
The discard flavour of warlock is such a great example of how flawed this game is in terms of its competitiveness. In magic, discarding only places the card in your graveyard AND you get to choose what is discarded, save for a few random discard cards that don't see play and are barely ever printed. You can them often interact with the discarded cards from your graveyard via other cards' mechanics. In this game, you're just straight up giving away card advantage for little to no fucking gain and it blows my mind that they continue to try and build on this broken mechanic instead of fixing it as a whole.
Lana'thel is a good card, the problem is discard mechanic isn't that good. I think they hate Lana'thel because she has no use in other type of deck. Kind of wasted legendary slot for warlock.
She is too weak. This game was a perfect example: she got silenced before she did any value. She is a 1 Star card. At least they should give her taunt. But also this change wouldn't make her 1 star...
yup , i suggest you save this website on note , here is hearthstone meta stats were it shows top tier decks and winrate and most playable decks for today on right side metastats.net/ , remember to save it
Yep! The new cards it got have given it more resources for the endgame (like stitched tracker and the DK) so midrange doesn't just run out of cards and die like it used to (at least, not as much.)
Druid quest is playable. I've actually won a fair share of games with it. It's not a top tier deck or anything, but playable. Hunter quest is unplayable.
It's a little known fact that you'll always discard every single card in your hand before you discard clutchmother, it's a statistical oddity.
literally every game she is played, she must be a mathematical anomaly (or they just coded her with -99% discard chance!)
Yepp. Most discard cards have a very low proability to be discarded but the clutchmother is an extreme example even of that.
Sun Tzu clutch other should have said "always has 50% chance to be discarded unless it's the last card in your hand"
Sun Tzu a
wile123456 No if it's the last card in your hand you would discard your Hero Power
Among his positively endless array of endearing features, nothing about Brian "please don't call me 'Brian "Brian Kibler" Kibler'" Kibler warms the cockles of my heart more than his unfaltering commitment to Quest Warlock. We'll make it great one day, Bri-Bri. One day.
Of Brian Kibler Gaming?
EtherealG his willingness to play tier 99 decks in general is pretty awesome.
thats weird you called him Bri-Bri, thats what we call one of me and my moms friend lol
Since I opened a golden warlock quest and blood queen I can only hope kibler makes it .
Brian "Please Don't Call Me "Brian "Brian Kibler" Kibler of Brian "Brian Kibler" Kibler Gaming"" Kibler of Brian "Brian Kibler" Kibler Gaming
I love how when Kibler gets so damn unlucky with his discards he barely complains, moves on and still wins the game. What a legend.
I think I know what Quest Lock needs. A way to discover discarded cards a la eternal servitude
True
@Student Samuel Ma Soulwarden
yeah, discard kinda needs work
like, in magic, theres two kinds of discard, random, and selected
maybe make the 3/6 that discards when damaged, random, and make any spells or battlecry, pull up the discover selector, and have it 3 cards from your hand
that way, you have more say in the matter, annnd you can still get 3 cards you dont want to discard and have to choice
also, this opens up more design space, like, soulfire, is it random, or is it discover?
i think it would be cool
That would be an interesting brawl. All discards are 'discover discard' instead. It would make Zavas insanely powerful.
Maybe make only the discard 2 minions (felhound and doomguard) discover. "Discover a card from your hand, discard the other 2."
honestly if discard worked like in shadowverse (discard a random card from your lowest cost) it would make it so muchas better and consistent
Or have some cards that say "Discover a discard card" or "Battlecry: Become a card you discard"
And to avoid a op Zavas, we could increase her mana cost by one everytime she's discard
i mean, i just think the problem with discard is you either have to have a deck with shit cards in it, which kinda means your deck is shit, ooor hope you dont discard a DK card or combo piece
i dont think it would make Zavas more OP, just more consistent, cuz you are still praying to RNGsus to put it on the 3 picks. you might not, buuuut, it would be a bit more consistant. and at least, more fun, cuz at least you get to choose
Is it crazy that i was just watching Kiblers first video on Nether portal from back in April when I got this notification?
Maybe, but not as crazy as beating meta face hunter with Discard-Lock
4:30 he has 12 mana?!
Kibler was cheating all along!
niklas pfafenrot Went from 9/9 to 12/9 lol wut
uh wtf...i thought it was supposed to give you "Excess Mana" after you pass 10.. good eye.
Hmm, might've been something with Howlfiend's 3 attack (The attack was canceled when he conceded so it could've caused some weird stuff)
A similar thing happened to me the other day. It said I had 11 mana.
4:29 how come when his opponent conceded he got 12 mana?
lastash it's a visual bug
S M A L L I N D I E C O M P A N Y
Shiro lookin so regal in this video...a king among the doggos

Wait, Lana'thel's face looks exactly like Kibler lol
Gabriel Canto holy shit yes LOL
Zavas at it again with dodging all discards
Dude you actually created my favorite deck so far and certainly the funniest deck of all time, I crafted it and i love it, thanks a lot you genius
Did anyone notice at 4:30 that the mana bar went from 9/9 to 12/9?
Ahh, good old Beethoven's 3rd. It's easy to remember-sing along at 0:55 "have you heard of Beethoven's 3rd?"
They should change DIScard to a DIScover mechanic. Two ideas.

"Oh god" - Kibler 2017
When the title said best deck I was expecting jade druid
joshua seow he's talking about raza priest
This is Why i always have deathwing in My deck

Can u put that minion that deals 1 damage to a minion when u sommon it and patron and fill ur board with patrons
You know we're playing the right game when someone can go "Oh God it's a BearShark!!"
Nice vids as always !

Kibler what should i craft Lyra or Prophet Velen ?
kryštof ivanka Lyra
Atlas Thanks :)
kryštof ivanka Velen.
I like this deck it might get me back into HS, anyone recommend any fun decks? I got quite some dust but not tons of it at all.
What if i already have the quest and i wanna play this deck but i dont have any of the other legendaries, wich one should i craft ?
the warlock death knight is probably the best bet, or Elise if you like grind decks.
mark im more into warlock dk
then go for it man
So how good is this deck without the quest?
It's crazy how good the quest is when you get it off early and don't get completely screwed by the discards. The ultimate value generator...too bad it sucks most of the time. :(
Can you guys help me, this deck looks like so much fun, but i am limited in dust, i can craft the deck but i wouldn't have much left, I would like to know if this deck is viable in all ranks or is it too inconsistent?

(Laugh Off) Me vs Kibler
How many times has this comment been replicated over Kibler's videos? It's getting quite annoying.
6, i counted this morning
Vetv
How do u won that card back????!!!!!
People i have a question, it would be broken if HearthStone let you choose what to discard? it would be game changing?
Kibleeer can you play some tipe of quest hunter? Pleasee!
Add some dvorak serenade for string in e major op 22 for me
are you kidding me, someone at my magic league was in a dino suit
I'm here from the future! Quest Warlock and Quest Hunter are actually good now.
I had a ten game win streak with your quest warlock deck holy shit!!!
i love so much this deck im liking every videos before watching it
I tried bloodreaver gul’dan with a discard deck. Pure frustration
This deck has been all I've faced today at ladder...
Kiblers laugh sounds like a villians laugh
Nerf discard cards but then allow you to choose/discover which card to toss
8:33 Gul'dan wouldn't have brought back 2 doomguards since one was stolen by Embrace Darkness and didn't die under your control.
He realizes this like two minutes later.
He literally realized that like 1 minute later, pls whatch the entire video before going ham with the comments and correcting everything he says
Didn't go ham and didn't correct everything he said, just that one thing. You're the one going ham here
wet donny
Came for Shiro, stayed for the games.
I think if Blizz gave Walrock a "Discover a card you've discarded this game" spell, Discard decks would be a lot more viable
michael todd what if that spell got discarded?
8:47 The only way Zavas can ever be useful.
Why does Lich guldan sound so weird?
wtf this showed up in my subbox now I didn't realize until he played priest of the feast lol
More than one match? This has to be celebrated
Hey Kibler... There is a cloud with eyes and a snoot in your video.
I'm a simple guy. I see Shiro, I put a like on the video.
I still dont understand why blizzard dont buff but only nerf the cards.
They can just make new cards.
There are some cards that no matter what you nerf will never be playable.
Literally the only kibler video I can't watch all the way through, discard lock is just too painful to watch
Discardlock just needs a broken way to recover discarded cards
Christ alive please rework discard, this was unbelievably painful to see.
Discolock may not be the best but I'd take it over boring decks anytime
Lily'sDong il take the boring deck anytime. Because at least I have fight chance
Atlas
Don't you dare say that.
Why I'm receiving recommendations for older videos? Goddam UA-cam
I'd say Rogue quest is worse. I used to play it. Can't make it work now. Should have taken the dust.
I enjoy watching your Warlock questing
The discard flavour of warlock is such a great example of how flawed this game is in terms of its competitiveness. In magic, discarding only places the card in your graveyard AND you get to choose what is discarded, save for a few random discard cards that don't see play and are barely ever printed. Love this deck!
Holy shit Kibler made a video about a game against me!
mrthedude87 tell me more
I mean, I'm the priest in the video. Drew pretty poorly in the midgame and ultimately lost to exact lethal.
lier
mrthedude87 wow you really played a noob deck
The Bloodqueefing is real
What would make this deck viable, a 2 mana, 3/2, battlecry: Discover a card, then discard it
On second thought, make that card cost 5 or less
Hunter is now the best deck? Man I've been away for a bit
Soul fire discarding un goro pack would have been better
Wow, turns out Lana'thel is one of the best cards in the deck, exactly like Kibler said. I wonder where all the haters went.
Sometimes I wonder if Krip actually knows how to play hearthstone
Seth Morgan well he consistently is at the top of arena rankings, what would you say?
12 mana... seems lit
Omg Shiro's huge now
Wait is hunter actually meta now?
yup , i suggest you save this website on note , here is hearthstone meta stats were it shows top tier decks and winrate and most playable decks for today on right side metastats.net/ , remember to save it
Yep! The new cards it got have given it more resources for the endgame (like stitched tracker and the DK) so midrange doesn't just run out of cards and die like it used to (at least, not as much.)
Yep, with aggro druid and pirate warrior hit very hard this patch it has opened up space for hunter.
I think this is the first time I've ever seen Brian use the threaten emote
He uses it if someone kills Cute Cat before Ugly Cat.
why are the un'goro packs from Elise so much better than the real packs
Because they done that on purpose. Elise is a slow card and it would be a bad one if the reward was bad.
Why deny someone legend Kibler D:
It was a good Ungoro pack though.
Uhhh thats a very strange Raza Kazakus Priest first opponent. Description bug or misinput? >_>
Lucas Kayne watch the whole video
Tudor Roman Well, Hunter still should be mentioned, cuz this is misinformation
Прост Фамилия I don't know if Kibler changed the description, but it DOES say Bearshark Hunter.
Oh that was recently changed I think. When I commented it just said Raza Kazakus Priest.
Greetings kibler :D
This game shows why i dont play hs anymore, so much discover and randomness 0 tactics
For what reason did you mulligan the quest?? All of your cards are made for it and you would’ve had the portal by turn 5...
Galvadon is crying
blood reaver guldan hero power is busted specially after that powerfull battlecry
BEST QUEST: INFINITY VALUE
FLOOF DOGGO
Not the worst quest, that would be the hunter quest.
Richard D *Paladin
I dusted mine, the printing of geist actually removed the card from ever existing.
Paladin's bad, but Hunter's still worst.
You guys forgot about druid.
Druid quest is playable. I've actually won a fair share of games with it. It's not a top tier deck or anything, but playable. Hunter quest is unplayable.
Best deck RIP jade druid
but this is the best quest
Gul darn
Well then
Silly Kibler,Hunter quest is worst.
топчик
Finally....
Quest hunter is far worse
