Unsainted is about a past relationship that Corey Taylor went through that tore him apart. As he does with many of his songs, the lyrics are very cryptic and have double meanings.
Every pastor wants to pin down one meaning of a lyric line...Please, sometimes they're multiple meanings and sometimes it's nonsense but only sounds good and rhymes. "I'll never kill myself to save my soul..." The church might say "Good because thou shalt not kill and that's not how it works anyway." Corey isn't literally putting his material "self" over an eternal soul. Also, there are all types of satire...
No. No. No. "Never Kill myself to save my soul" "Your bibles dont work on me" "Pick a lord and you pray to it" Corey Taylor is making it obvious where he stands spiritually, religiously, whatever you want to say. I get it, this song is catchy and you feel it in your soul. Theres a reason you feel it that way, the reason you get chills. Watch the music video for this, they are just shoving satanic imagery down our throats. And as for the 9 pointed star, pentagram, whatever, yes there are 9 members in this band. But as many people have said in this chat, there are double meanings to the lyrics. Can that also apply to the symbolism? I dont know exactly, but common sense tells me it means more than you think. God bless thanks for the video Pastor.
It's a 9 pointed star representing the 9 members of the band
What you thought was a pentagram is just a symbol with nine points to represent nine members in the band , great reaction man :)
Makes sense, thanks for clarifying.
Yes Sir, Keep Up The Great Work!!
