LYRICS:
Today, up on this hill, I’m counting all the killers
They sway as they swarm, a look of gluttons in their eyes
They mutter as the body loses warmth
They pick your bones like locks inside a tomb
And take great care to not take care of YOU
HERE’S AN UNEXPLAINABLE ONE
While I was learning to live, we all were living a lie- I guess you got what you wanted
So I will settle for a slaughterhouse soaked in blood and betrayal
It’s always somebody else… somebody else was me- you want the real smile?
Or the one I used to practice, not to feel like a failure?
I don’t need you to do it for me/I don’t need you to understand
I don’t need you to hide it from me/ I just want to feel like any other man
I won’t show you the whole story/I won’t show you the aftermath
I won’t show you my allegory
Don’t look away… HERE’S AN UNEXPLAINABLE ONE
I’m not ahead of my time- I just drew the first breath- If I’m alive tomorrow
I will alleviate the pressure… by cutting you out of me
I found my bottom line- dead on the front lines- I know I’ll never go home
So set fire to your ships and past regrets and be free
I don’t need you to do it for me/I don’t need you to understand
I don’t need you to hide it from me/ I just want to feel like any other man
I won’t show you the whole story/I won’t show you the aftermath
I won’t show you my allegory
Don’t look away… HERE’S AN UNEXPLAINABLE ONE
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?
While I was learning to live, you taught me how to die- I guess I got what I wanted
Another needle in the back through purified scarification
It wasn’t somebody else- you fucking did it to me.
You want a real smile?
I haven’t smiled in years.

I so much agree with you. If live was a poem, we must be heavy metal.
It’s an emotional release but unfortunately most people see it as pointless anger and “just noise”.
But we are not most people, my friend. That's the beauty of this. We see the world differently, we understand it is chaos, and we embrace it, we feel everything so deeply in our bones, and we thrive on the romantic pain that is life. And it is just beautiful how these emotions are tangible in this music, in these words, in his voice. @@AutomaticDuck300

I picked up this album in the days following the death of my very best friend. Their life was ended in a way that was so unexpected, painful and traumatic that it literally felt as though it was specifically orchestrated to drag me through the most harrowing experience possible, in turn destroying my life as well. I cannot tell you all just how heavily I leaned on this album throughout that very dark time, and it was a lengthy grieving process to say the least. I can honestly say Slipknot's music helped me pull through that hell and this specific song was at the forefront of my defense against my own inner demons during that time. I'll be a fan for life, but I feel I have them to thank for still having a life to be a fan.
I firmly believe this is one of the best songs EVER. It has really hard hitting lyrics, amazing performances on every instrument, and absolute chaos from Corey's voice. In my opinion, nothing can or will top, "YOU WANT A REAL SMILE?! Heh, *I HAVEN'T SMILED IN YEARS!* "

I like bands evolving and experimenting - sometimes it can be bad, sometimes good or great. I love Subliminal Verses, and The Gray Chapter is a step-up from All Hope Is Gone which was... eh, I can't say it was terrible but it isn't an album I have revisited often. What I want is Slipknot to deliver an album that blows the shoes off of my feet, because they are still capable. Solway Firth is that. It doesn't feel as polished as anything they've done since Iowa, it's quite raw and very heavy. This is a great Slipknot song. 🤘🏻
@@mckinky8912 I'm a super loyal cannibal corpse and dying fetus fan... Corpse has kept the same sound for ever and that's why I like em.
Not very lmao
I wasn't sure when it first started, but after about a minute, you know Slipknot still have their magic
I agree 100% there.
Jack Brown same man. I was hoping it would kick in, and it sure did. 🤘
I was so confused at the start but damn the guitar is better than ever
Fucking sexy
I never thought they lost any magic, but for those of u "fans" that did...WANYK!
My neighbors appreciate it 😊
There hasn’t been any other band or artist that I listen too that get better with time the way they do. Usually my top 3 songs would be on the first 2-3 albums but 8 albums later and this is in my top 3 favorite SLIPKNOT songs…maybe even #1 which is pretty mind boggling.
You can say whatever you want about Slipknot, but we should all be happy that they are still making music after many many years !
Still making GOOD music after many many years.

They said dont want to be old and still playing, but fuck, want to see them really old and keep doing this...
