    Thank.you for this video. Nice cab ride. Seen after the station two very nice churches. I.guess that the first is the Shrine Church of st. Walburge's. But what is the church seen after and at left ?

      Here's the whole route from Colne to BPS. Hopefully there's an updated version as this is pre-electrification. Hope you enjoy anyway ua-cam.com/video/obLrTM8YpAg/v-deo.html

    Dumb question- is this line,historically part of the old L&Y/ LNWR(B- division),as I recognized,Poulton,and some of the trackage from a couple of books on the L&Y,LMS,and territory?? Thank you for an interesting video,beautiful country,outside of the cities! Oh yes,are you going to do a program on Blackpool 🚊 trams?? Thank you! 😊!

    12:26 Crow/Raven, 7/10 points!. On a more serious note, it's a shame the speed wasn't raised, there look like there are some points were 100 mph would be possible!.

    Fingers crossed the route to Fleetwood will be re connected at some stage

    • @None-zc5vg

      When the junction at Poulton was removed the new track through the curve at that point was banked and canted to favour high-speed running in both directions: reinstating the connection to Fleetwood wouldn't be straightforward because of the priority given to the fast traffic.
      It's ironic that the Fleetwood-Preston line was originally the 'main line' and the Poulton-Blackpool link came in later as an afterthought. Beeching wanted to keep the 'new' 1903 fast line into Blackpool and to retain the Fleetwood link, abandoning the Poulton-Blackpool North section. It's said the Blackpool "good old boys" preferred to develop Central Station and its extensive sidings, so we have today's set-up.
      There was a 'triangle' at Poulton and the abandoned 'Blackpool-Fleetwood side of it seems unobstructed: maybe it would be easier to 'reconnect' Fleetwood from the Blackpool direction [who knows?] but the trackwork and signalling required for such a new link would still cost millions in today's inflated prices and the money just wouldn't be there. Maybe a new bay platform at Poulton would be the only low-cost answer to keeping the Z Fleetwood link alive, together with a few of those new super-light, low-cost trains to operate it as a regular service.

      @@None-zc5vg Thank you for all that information i never knew half of that so I'm greatful to u. Somebody did tell me once that wonderful people who are trying to maintain the line in the hopes of one day getting it back In service want it as a heritage line which i do think that is their only hope.

    Are they eltricfication the line to Blackpool south ? The electric ⚡ masts seem to be heading that way? could be a good winner 🏆?

    • @captainnemo247
      @captainnemo247 2 роки тому

      No plans at all as far as I am aware. The masts only go as far as Kirkham station. The two tracks turning left at Kirkham North Junction very shortly join to form a single track all the way to Blackpool South. There is no other trackwork. The line has been re-signalled to Blackpool South however. There is only an hourly service. To make the frequency half hourly a passing loop would be required. Ansdell and Fairhaven has been mooted as a possible location for this.

      Elec is unlikely. There is interlinked usage of stock on Bpl Sth-Preston / Preston-Colne / Preston-Ormskirk individual workings, but not as timetabled through workings, although if you look at the platforming details at Preston station on Open Train Times, it is possible to see how the units are employed. Also, east Lancs and Ormskirk must be low candidates for electrification.
