100% means getting all coins, sketches, and letters to spell TARZAN in every level. That's how you unlock the "completed hard" thing (which, by the way, is just the "Stranger Like Me" music video. "Completed Easy" is Tarzan accepting his role as the new leader of the apes. "Completed Medium" is Jane deciding to stay with Tarzan). It's near impossible to get 100% because of the tree-sliding sections. They require complete memorization of the levels ("The Baboon Chase" in particular is terrible).
Also, the game was released on PC twice. The first version has two of the bonus levels in reverse order, some slightly different item placement, and an easier Clayton battle. The second PC version is revised to better match the PS1 and N64 versions. The old version also doesn't count your percentages, so you unlock the "Completed Easy/Medium/Hard" cutscenes just by beating the game, rather than by collecting everything.
Oh my god THANK YOU!!! Here I thought that when I beat the game it was "complete hard" not actually 100% the whole thing. Makes sense but it could have been worded better. But you are amazing, I have been wondering what you get for the 100% for the longest of times! And now I know it's just a few more clips from the movie, which are not worth it hahahaha. Wow I didn't know they released it on PC twice. I saw many different box art when looking it all up but I thought it was just that, art. It's strange they would remix the game for the PC port when the other 2 versions are almost the same. I do like that you unlock the end just by beating the game though, THAT'S a good addition. Do you know how the Clayton battle was easier?
@@Lytane The Clayton battle is easier in terms of his attack pattern. It might just be because it's the version I grew up with (so I'm used to that specific attack pattern), but I find the old pattern easier to dodge his attacks. He also takes less hits to back towards the ledge. I have a feeling that the PC version was actually released (or at least produced) before the console versions, and that's why it has differences. It seems they re-released the PC version later to make it closer to the console versions.
@@curtthegamer934 Fair enough, I did think it took a lot to beat him on tthe PS1 so I'm not upset they would change that. It's hard to find any information on the PC release though. According to the internet both the PC and PS1 versions released in "June 1999" Such a strange but of trivia that will probably be lost to time.
@@curtthegamer934so if you complete the game in hard mode, you unlock “stranger like me” music video, the movie ending clip, and the clip of Jane staying with Tarzan, all at once?
Weirdly enough, the PS1 and PC versions came out in June 1999, around the same time the movie got theaters. Whereas the N64 version came out in February 2000, around the same time as the DVD/VHS release of the film.
For the tree sliding with jane and baboons I remember I one time pressed a random button and it will open the umbrella so you could throw away baboons coming your way just like the movie , I forgot which button it was but you should try it out :D thanks for the well made video !
@@Lytane I remember us not having a memory card, so my brother and I would play the first couple levels again and again. We did discover the cheat code to unlock everything, and we kept dying to Clayton, lol. I remember having a lot of fun playing with him.
Oh damn, I remember the days of not having a memory card, or having a full one and not having the courage to delete any saves because then I'd have to start those games over. Ahhhh kids today will never know our pain lol At least you got to play through the game! I too had a lot of trouble with Clayton, even though he only has 3 attacks I just couldn't memorise the pattern. Random question, did you ever 100% the game? And if you did what does it unlock? One of my all-time favorites I miss this game wish I could play it again. It took me awhile to figure out if you played at a harder difficulty it would unlock more video
You could *shifty eyes* emulate it. Then you could play it again!! Did you ever finish Hard mode 100%? Did it unlock anything new? I finished the game on hard but didn't earn the hard completion reward and no one I've seen or talked to know what it is! I NEED TO KNOW!!!! Sorry, lost it there for a second hahahaha
In the time this came out, I'm not surprised as 3D was all the rage! I remember when games like Klonoa, Mischief Makers, Rayman 1 and more were not fully 3D and panned for it, but those games are still great and time was nicer to them instead of some of the bad camera controlled PS1 games
Damn that’s such a shame!! That’s one of the problems with physical media but I still prefer it. I hope my video brought back some good memories though!
If I remember correctly, this was the first game I ever played on a PC that wasn't running DOS. Spent so much time playing it I had the timing pretty much memorized after a point. Time well spent.
back in the days when you only had a few games and good or bad they were all you had. So you would play them back and forth and over and over again. Not a bad game to learn, there are so many secrets!
If i'm not mistaken, the trick to get over that treehouse bridge is to look carefully at the bridge where you're going. The parts of the bridge that look slightly different (some jagged edges, slightly loose planks or something) are the parts that you need to avoid walking over :)
I swear I studied it with my face pressed up to the screen and couldn't tell but then I probably just missed it lol I still think it needs to be telegraphed way better. Aside from that, fun game lol
Not a bad first video game! I haven't played those other games in literally years so I can't say if they are good or not. I just remember liking Hercules. But Tarzan was pretty fun for the most part
@@Lytane Herculs is fun despite its many flaws but it gets really bad after world 2 in my opinion. The bosses at least looks cool even if they don't play all too well. But way too difficult and I remember this maze with spikes on its ledges with a timer on which is way too cruel, I even had to ask my dad to assists me and one of my cousins I think as a 4 year old. It was one of those levels taking place inside a skull.
Nice!! How did you manage that final boss as a kid, even as an adult it was brutal! Also fun fact, Sabor doesn’t have a gender in the movie. They don’t mention it. In the books the character Sabor is based on is a female but Kingdom Hearts says male. So we are all right and wrong lol

The level is giving me madgascar vibes
Hahaha sadly no King Julian to liven up the jungle and make it more fun!

A little bit! White guy, brown hair. Though the art looks nicer than my real face hahaha
U get the 100% u can play tarzan without his clothes
I want to believe you but this is Disney… 😩
