I really like the way you explain things. You give practical, real life examples to help us understand it instead of just generic "example 1" and "example 2." Thanks!
Thanks, RainWanders! I appreciate the comment and I'm glad you've found the videos helpful.
Thank you for this! I've been stumped all morning and now record types make sense.
Glad it helped!
Got this question today during my interview. Wished i had watched this video earlier.
Oof! Interview questions can be brutal. Glad you're finding the answer you need now though.
Thank you Brian, you did it again! Great explanation of record types!

Thank you. Sometimes the Trailhead is convoluted. Super helpful.

Thank you for a clear and concise explanation!
You are welcome! We appreciate the comment. Any other topics you'd like help with?
@@Rotive it would be great to get the information about security in Salesforce (profiles, rules, sharing rules, permission sets, etc.). It's one of the most difficult and confusing topics in Admin certification.
Great suggestion! I was just talking with a friend about security in salesforce. It’s a tough topic to get.
@@Rotive indeed :(
Excelente
Thanks!
Hey Man! Great video first of all. Secondly: How can I create a record of an object through a "quick action button" / "button" of another object? Thanks in advance.
Glad you liked the video. Go to Object Manger. Click on the object where want the button to appear. Click on Buttons, Links, and Actions. Then create a new action and select Create New Record. Once you've configured your action, make sure to add it to the page layout so it shows up.
This makes sense. I didn't get it on Trailhead. Thank you.
Glad you found it helpful! Thank you for watching. Are there any other Salesforce topics, you'd like us to make a video on?
@@Rotive Do you have one one formulas?
Anyone know how to report on these different types of records? Would I just pull a standard Opportunity report? What field name should I be looking for?
You can use a regular Opportunity report. You'll see there is a field called Opportunity Record Type or perhaps just Record Type. That will contain the label of the record type. You can then filter, group, or sort based on that value.
Perhaps a bit obvious, but I cannot see where the record type in this example was indicated as "new business" instead of Renewal. Is there an icon or a flag showing what the record type is?
Hey Patrick, good question! There is a field you can add to the page layout called Record Type. That will show what the current record type of that record is. You can also add the Change Record Type button to the layout to get the modal you see in the video.
Can you please make a video on use of record types in salesforce flow?
Hi Rameesha, No problem! ua-cam.com/video/ORWFAPYASoY/v-deo.html&themeRefresh=1
