In today's video, I decided to show you what is working right now and how you can safely do to rank first in Google maps / profile

The reality is most of the reason you aren't able to rank number 1 is due to the tactics used by many to fool the Google algorithm - let me show you what Google is actually looking for - then we can work out the right way to optimise your GMB
imagine you put 42 local SEO experts together with access to 20,000 businesses together and reversed engineered to see what the algorithm said was important - well that has been done
Primary GMB category - your best category - you can locate additional categories that it's relevant here: zanet.co.uk/gmb/
Keywords in GMB business title - don't fall into the trap of adding keywords - it will get you banned
the proximity of address to the searcher
physical address in the city of search - it seems if you're a service this could be still a slight disadvantage

Keywords in Native Google Reviews - hard to force - though you can suggest - note it gets picked up
Removal of spam/spam-fighting - show how to
Keywords in GMB landing page title - Be sure your main keyword is in your title tag. That main keyword should be geo-specific.
Quantity of Native Google Reviews (w/text) - more regular - this is an increasing factor
Verified GMB Listing - just add your postcard code - so many don't get any further than this - several other ways if you cant have a postcard see • Can You Verify Your Go...
Internal Linking Across Entire Website - 4 types of most important contextual (in the blog) navigational - (use categories and products from GMB too ) footer and image links If you do link an image, be sure to use a relevant caption and ALT text, as both of these signals can indicate to search engines what the image is about and why it is there in context.
Geographic Keyword Relevance of Domain Content - local search has to be specific, content on the page is about your service in a location
Quality/Authority of Inbound Links to GMB Landing Page URL - algorithm determines your authority/link juice/page rank - local relevant links are good
Proper Placement of Map Pin - often pins aren't quite perfect - they reward precision

What he says is true about a service business. My business has no location just a service area and if I type "landscaping" on google maps I rank in the top 5. If I type "landscaping Kingston" I give up on scrolling after the 20th business because its way to low. I don't know how to fix this issue it may just come down to not having a actual store or a pin on google maps.
it could also be down to your business website and citations, have you used "landscaping Kingston" for optimisation on the extrenal links and indexes?

This is great, but if you did that search from the address your business is registered with Google you will always be top of Google Business Profile. The bigger challenge is how to rank further out i.e 20 miles from your house when there are others closer in proximity?
yes that's true and is why on other videos I've used tools that do that too. Anyone can be #1 from there home address

will i be penalized if I create different gmb's for diferent cities? I operate on service areas and dont have a physical adress for our duct cleaning service...
if you have specific businesses in specific areas it could be possible. Google doesn't make it easy. as the GBP is designed for local services, so as long as you stay within the guidelines it should be possible
Even if you don't display the addresses, you will still need to have an address in each of those cities.. if you want to stay within the TOS :)
Hello there, thanks for this. I have a question. One of my clients get banned from google maps. When you go to the street in the maps to see the entry of the place looks like blurred. Not the hole street only the restaurant. Do you know what is this? How can I fix it? thanks!

@@aguschar1 Many thanks Agus Charlone for your question. ifyou log into your browser with your google account, then search for your business, it should come up with editing facilities. click on Edit Profile > Business information there you can enter the Opening date - Add the date that you opened or will open at this address. Google then someties uses this in your ranking as number of years in business. hope that helps. Great video, we want to target a certain area can we use a UPS Store mail box that has a actual address to show we are in that area. We do concrete and outdoor kitchens. Thanks for the help.

Hello, i noticed if i google my business name, someone else of a very similar name to mine, shows up on the same page as mine, could this interfere with web traffic?
Many thanks, EcogreenDetail for your question. This sounds like a simple question, but there are so many factors at work.
The short answer is, if you aren't found at the top then anything above you could take away web traffic which is also potential clients.
But have in mind what results are you looking at? and where are you when you search as vicinity is a big factor? Is it Local search, results in organic results in the Google search engine, google map results, are you searching from the address of the business as IP address and locality is also a factor. is the Google account registered with being used with cookies/browser history etc.
My best advice would be to follow the videos I'm currently producing as they will give you the authority to build enough strength to end up dwarfing the competitors over time

Is there anyway you can give advice, we had a store but the location moved which we updated to the new location, we were verified then suspended, have been waiting 3 weeks+ for reply from Google when we sent the reinstatement, subsequent to that we managed to list the new location which was verified, but does not appear on Google Search for the area / location and have used the exact key words, website link etc that we have used for our other locations that do appear on Google search...hoping you can assist....your videos and insights are awesome
thank you and I'm glad you value my video channel . most are finding Google support to be poor and slow at best. so I think unfortunately stick with it I've been waiting on Google support for 3 months on one account, so I'm aware it's really poor responses, but that is still the best way to get it back on track

We rent 8 apartments in a city as holiday apartments. Does it make more sense to choose the google business listing than a service listing? I don't want to register 8 companies for each apartment
I don't think rentals are allowed on Google business that's my current understanding

I have a business registered at my home my shop is within walking distance around the corner. Customers can drop off their equipment to be repaired. I want to place that address on Google local maps. But I don’t want to get suspended. Do you think this would be permitted? Thanks

Normally a change of address would rquire a new postcard to authenticate the change. currently Google is suspending business for the smallest changes, so its a risk that you may want to take at a time that isnt busy for trade.

You should be able to do that without any issues, other than they may ask you to re-verify the address. We had a client that died the exact same thing recently.

Hello, my name is Renato and I live in Brazil! I'm following your advice, however, I've seen google my business profiles that are above the profile of a client I have. These profiles are not being worked on. They've been stopped for a while and even though I'm working day after day with content for my client, it doesn't come up. I am following your guidelines. Even the fake profile is ahead and abandoned and I can't make my client's account go up. I think I must be doing something wrong, I'm kind of out of options here.
Every business industry and area is unique.In a really strong competitive area the key is not just following a process within GMB, but also establishing a brand identity, trust, authority, expertise and citations. if you master these I can't see why you won't be found unless the competition are using black hat methods

Better video and here you say reviews are important, and besides a complete GMP being complete and backlinks it’s the 3rd most important thing which is correct. Even though all of the things you mention are important.
Thanks again Jeff for your comment on here. Yes its about addressing the balance of pleasing the customers and not the algorithm for long term SEO, but as we know there is no one definite approach that guarantees success.
@@ZanetDesign yeah I haven’t seen many who don’t rank well if they have a 4.5’rating and more reviews than their competitors. Just me. Google wants the user to have a great experience so why wouldn’t they rank them?

its a subtle difference. reviews aren't everything, that's the point being made, a high percentage of reviews are fake, so rankinking is not just about review scores

You can only claim a business you own. So its available on each business because when business sell the new owner may then need to make a claim on the Google Business Profile, does that make sense?

@@kokoba5084 You would need them to respond to the Gmail account it was registerd with, it means its alrady registred and claimed

This is one of the worst things Google has done, as it is not just confusing, it is likely why you get dozens of calls each week from "businesses" saying your profile isn't claimed. That link used to only be on unclaimed profiles, but now it is on all of them, so people using scrapers to find unclaimed profiles, are now finding EVERYONE. The one good thing about it is that it allows you to reclaim a listing that you can no longer access. BUT there is another issue...
In theory, ANYONE can try to claim your listing, and if you don't respond, they can get access.

The Google Business Profile isnt multilanguage unfortunately -so its not perfect

i've been watching your videos for a while now and been trying to do everything you tell us to do but one day i woke up and my account went from number 6 to 63 right at the bottom in last place and hasn't moved for like 2 weeks now. i wonder if you know why this can happen or what i've done wrong? please help me 🙏
Firstly its always disappointing when suddenly it drops for what appears to be no reason. I covered this in this video. ua-cam.com/video/GEzYAZfw4rc/v-deo.html I guess there are hundreds of answers and the best placed person to answer that question is you and Google. Every business is different and has its own micro algorithms applied as well as different settings in different countries. As you know Google can change one thing that can immediately change your ranking overnight, but you can also look at this in a different way... what are you ranking #63 on. Are there other words you have improved on insights may help here. Have your website authority changed. Have a competitor applied some black hat tactics? Sometimes this isn't all about being ranked on a specific keyword, but a long term building of authority, consistency and giving good signals ua-cam.com/video/Aat2YK0CPLM/v-deo.html
@@ZanetDesign thanks for your advice i really appreciate it. i have a mileage correction business and there isn't many keywords except from odometer and mileage correction. but when i do type in mileage correction i was like number 6 now i'm #63 and still hasn't moved in weeks. fingers crossed i can get this sorted very quick because it's effected my business really bad. i feel to delete gmb account and start all again!
I would focus on getting some reviews and customers mentioning those key phrases within there review, uploading some quality photos of your services and products relating to those keywords, add a post and product and service that feeds on those keywords, also use those keywords on your website and optimise your Web site for them, link through to your GBP posts
all the above with your customers perspective in mind and talking in a way that appeals to that audience.
then I would repeat, a few times for related keywords then see how the results change using a tool for checking rank and analyse the impact on insights

How will local seo change with google sge?
Yes this will definitely prove an interesting twist on SEO going forward. You can see that the sources chosen by SGE do not always match the top organic search results, so this will definitely give another opportunity for business owners tog et found, but ultimately Authority and expertise will still get you ranking #1 in your local industry and that's the key to local ranking
It's Google, so we can never really know :)
However, it may be great, if you are doing things "the right way". Googles job is to answer questions. You need to be the right answer. This means being clear and detailed on what you do, have correct and complete information, be active with new images and posts, so they know you are still open :)

@Radhika that may be the issue, if the number isn't shown on your website, Google may not be able to verify it as consistent to your business. what type of business is it?
@@ZanetDesign So I don't have a website yet, but do have insta handle. Does that mean I have to use the same number that I have been using on my insta handle?
no not neccerailly, but Google probably are looking for a way to authenticate your changed number. A website and citations are generally the easiest way for this
To put the city in the Title is not forbidden. You can read this in the google guidelines for webmasters.

@@ZanetDesign Hmm… Googles Example is Holiday Inn Salem. This is acceptable. But the Businessname is just Holiday Inn. So I think Businessname + City should be no Problem at all, because it is an example in Googles Guidelines for listings.
@@seofreelancermuenchen Ahh yes thats interesting, though its a chain of hotels and i wonder if they do have a legitiaimate registration on chain businesses. I really like that reasoning though and i know another business that has used it successfully. I just think its oversued and ive seen it get some businesses questioned by Google .
