      Adrian Wellington I personally would rather charge people to use the rest rooms in my game (which I never do anyway since I am a nice person and hell "When you gotta go, you gotta go.") before I even consider wanting microtransactions included.

    I hope they bring over site b mode from operation genesis to this game. I mostly play on that mode just because I prefer seeing my dinosaurs roam free on the island rather then seeing them in cages, with isla sorna being in this game, it should be a good enough reason to include the mode. I agree with you completely with your concern of microtransaction s possibly being included in this game and ruining the potential the game can offer, it would literally kill my hopes of this being a true spiritual successor to operation genesis. The waiting time in JPOG was annoying and aggravating, and from what I seen on the live frontier expo event channel (during the Jurassic World presentation) the dig sites extracting time takes about 7 to 8 minutes to complete, that kinda bothers me a little but hopefully there is a upgrade like in jpog to greatly reduce the time for any thing that involves waiting. I really hope they give us the game we've been waiting the past 14 to 15yrs for and that it is fully finished when the game releases next year and free of microtransactions. Great job on making this vid btw, glad to know that some people are against these absurd microtransactions that plague present day games.

    • @jaegerplaysgames964

      All we can hope for is that Frontier makes the right decisions in the coming months. I'd rather have the game delayed than have a sub-par product released, and yeah, micro transactions are just the worst. I hate when people say "it's optional" as Yahtzee said about shadow of war:
      "playing the game is optional, shoving a broom handle up your arse is optional, that doesn't mean I don't want to do it to you"

      There is a "Science" tree which allows you to greatly reduce the time needed to extract dinosaur fossils and DNA, along with making the overall process easier. I also imagine that dinosaurs live much longer than just the max 4 years, so an incomplete genome will still result in a long-lasting dino.

    The thing I'm most worried about is a lack of creative freedom. I just don't want JWE to be another tycoon game made for consoles like the thing that happened to the Zoo Tycoon franchise. But seeing Frontiers other tycoon game, planet coaster, makes me fairly optimistic for JWE.

    • @jaegerplaysgames964
      @jaegerplaysgames964  7 років тому +1

      Frontier is basically the only reason I'm optimistic at this point. With regards to creative freedom, the problem becomes this: What is your idea of creative freedom?
      A video game is always going to have a finite number of ways it can be played, and with a game like this where the object is to build a park and make money, what else could there be to it? I don't think this is going to be a game I spend hundreds of hours on and to be honest I'm ok with that. I'd be perfectly fine if this game took 20-30 hours to fully complete and was just fun to go back to every now and then.

    • @captainstroon1555
      @captainstroon1555 7 років тому

      Well, I really enjoyed JPOG back in the days and the creative freedom there was limited to one kind of each building, three different fences and only a handfull of species. In later park building simulations like RCT, Zoo Tycoon 2 and the brilliant Planet Coaster, this creative freedom was cranked up to eleven. In Planet Coaster you can basically build whatever you want. I don't expect this much from JWE. But it should do a better job for the builders among the players like me than the latest Zoo Tycoon game. Did you know you can't build fences there? Enclosures are pre-bulid objects in that game! I understand it's a console port and there are a lot of things that game does right, but I want to build my Jurassic Park ... uhm ... Jurassic World however I want. I want to use my creativity in that game! The expected console release of JWE makes me a little bit nervous and I really hope they don't screw this up. A remake of JPOG is one of my most wished for games and I want this game to be amazing.

    • @jaegerplaysgames964
      @jaegerplaysgames964  7 років тому

      Captain Stroon all we can really do is hope that they at least replicate jpog. I still wouldn't recommend pre-ordering, because it could be a total mess on release. In the end it's your choice though.

      Not going to happen, Frontier are self-publishing JWE and even if they didn't sell another copy of Elite Dangerous or Planet Coaster they still have enough cash in hand to run their company outright for 18 months.
      Why would they need to look to another publisher with the game set to launch in around 4 months?
      I also think you picked the wrong Frontier game to compare against. Elite Dangerous is a wholly online game with no subscription, a 3 year expansion in Horizons/Beyond and also has continuous developer (approx 100) and server costs to contend with. Micro transactions in that game are a necessity. You really would have been better comparing JWE to Planet Coaster seeing as both games are park builders, and offline (likely in the case of JWE) based games.

    • @matthewwest7906

      For the same reason banks offer loans to people who already have the money to pay for something they want. I know Frontier is self publishing but there is always that pang of doubt in the back of my mind, I want the game to be good, I really do, but I have to remain skeptical of their intentions to protect myself from disappointment.

    • @harbinger6574
      @harbinger6574 7 років тому +1

      Seems to me the only possible valid point to your worries is that the game may not be particularly fleshed out at release necessitating further updates to make it feel more complete, that's certainly something Frontier have been criticized for in the past. This could also be a possibility due to the short window of development being that they started this when Planet Coaster launched around November 2016. 18-19 months is several months short of their typical 24 month development cycle for a game.
      However in saying that lot of the groundwork for a modern park builder game will already have been laid in Planet Coaster, there is a lot they could potentially borrow from that game to speed up the development process of JWE.
      Whether or not this may be the case is unknown but even if it's not as fleshed out as everyone would hope at the start they gave several major free updates to Planet Coaster before they started introducing DLC some 8 months post release and they still give free content today. If anything the game will likely follow Planet Coaster's DLC template, not Elite Dangerous' because offline games don't have as much in the way of costs post release.
      With this being a highly anticipated game released on 3 platforms simultaneously Frontier stand to make bucketloads of money just from the initial purchases, even after kicking back royalties to Universal. Frontier are not EA and have shown no signs of wanting to emulate their money-grubbing ways with anything resembling loot crates or mobile game freemium models.

    If you are interested, there is another indie dinosaur park tycoon game called "Prehistoric Kingdom." The game is centered around dinosaurs, but will include other prehistoric animals such as Mosasaurus, Woolly Mammoths, Pteranodon and Dimetrodon, with a planned early access list of 50 animals. They're approach to the animals is very unique as they try to get them as scientifically as accurate as possible. They are currently doing their kickstarter campaign and have reached 36% of their current goal within 5 days, but still need all the support they can get. and they have a free demo available on Steam. The demo currently has 4 customizable species of dinosaurs, with up to 3 alt. skins and you can even adjust the age. The demo also has the basic build and terraforming features and when I did a play through, the building system felt like a massive expansion upon Zoo Tycoon 2 and JPOG systems. There will also be a content update to the demo this month called the "Jurassic Patch" where 4 additional animals will be added as well as advanced AI (hunting, herding, protecting juveniles from predators, etc.) along with bug fixes and additional building content. I would definitely recommend playing the demo to get a taste of whats the game wants to do and expand upon, and checkout their kickstarter page for more information! They also have a discord channel where they post updates about the game and content regularly: www.kickstarter.com/projects/1536990940/prehistoric-kingdom , discord.gg/S5hknuq
    EDIT: On a sidenote, there aren't any micro-transactions planned for this game (ex. pay 30$ for a skin pack won't be a thing (cough cough Jurassic World the Game), but paying a full on expansion pack with new animals, buildings, and other items like any Zoo tycoon 2 expansion pack would be)

      It could be taken advantage of and turned into a money printer as opposed to an enjoyable experience for players. I would hate to see a game like this degraded into the culture of lootboxes and micro transactions, imagine all of the items you have to research instead being available to buy with real money, it would just kill the game and allow players with more disposable income to just dominate others.

    have you heard of Mesozoica? The game comes into early access on December 23 and they plan to have a modular building system which allows you to build whatever you want. They also have a mode where you can control the visitors and the dinosaurs/prehistoric creatures. They plan to add more creatures through updates and after the full release they will have dlc with flying reptiles and marine creatures, along with Ice Age creatures, assumedly. I'm still skeptical of the game but also optimistic.

    • @jaegerplaysgames964
      @jaegerplaysgames964  7 років тому

      I hadn't heard about this but I will definitely check it out. I'm not one for paying for early access games as I don't believe in paying for something that hasn't been released, but I'll take a look at some other peoples let's plays and such.

    • @Allen-dj9ki
      @Allen-dj9ki 7 років тому +1

      I am definitely waiting till after the 23rd to buy the game and I refuse to fund ANYTHING but I am optimistic. They have done some scummy stuff like leak the existence of the Real-Life Dakotaraptor before it was meant to be released to the public and insult a guy who suggest they change the name because he used the name Mesozoica in some stories he wrote which were one of his life obsessions. But I care about the finished product, not the people behind it.

      Pre-ordering simply takes away a developers incentive to make a product as good as it can be. They already have your money, so what's the point in putting in more effort? Hopefully, fewer and fewer people will pre-order and the whole process will just be forgotten about in future.

      @jaegerplaysgames964  6 років тому

      I know you would pay for something in advance IRL but the analogy was more to emphasise the incentive you have if you won't be paid until the work is complete. As I said in the video, if you're paid upfront, you have no incentive to make the product as good as it can be, you already have the money, so you might as well just get it out the door as fast as possible.

      jody michaud I agree that we should have some sort of unauthorized breeding, just like in the movies excluding JW. I mean Ian's life found a way saying wasn't said just to be said, there was meaning behind it "Life can not be contained, Life breaks free, Life....finds a way." It bothers me that they are quoting him yet not including the reason to why he said what he said, but anyway the reason that they are most likely not going to add breeding in the wild is because it would be just too much to animate. Like giving the age stages their own unique animation, and with their going to be a lot of animals in the game and 29 dig sites, I sadly understand the reason why we very likely won't be getting breeding in the wild. Hence why they are going to go with the "Were going to this game like what the park was originally going for."
