Finally a practical idea. My daughter does this to keep neighborhood Tom cats from pooping in her flowerbeds. Hysterical.

I absolutely adore my bantam chickens. They are so stinking cute, and they have definitely become my little pet. But I get so mad when I catch them digging in my plants. And the rooster loves to jump up on my favorite stand of plants and crow. The final straw was them picking out a bunch of plants. I had just put in a pot to grow new roots . I worked so hard getting those plants in that pot, and my little rooster jerked them all out in a matter of moments. I must do some thing now. The sprinkler is not a bad idea. But I can’t let it run all day and I can’t be right there to make it turn on just when he comes up to the plants. I will figure something out though. Good idea.😂
This sprinkler only turns on when there’s movement by it. It has a motion detector. It works great.
Just finished chicken proofing my yard. Too many plants getting messed with. I used a bunch of fencing but love your idea.

That made me laugh! You'll need to give us a longterm update to let us know if it works. We had chips on three sides of our house. They have destroyed the wood chips. Like you said, if you have chickens, they will get into everything. Thanks for sharing a great video!
It’s been great so far. We have had it for 2 weeks now.
🤔 suppose they're looking for a juicy little snack digging through those wood chips they hold moisture pretty good I wonder if it's possible to remove the chips I know break them all out clear the path apply a covering black plastic or something barrier and then apply the chips but you may want to peripheral it with holes to keep it from holding moisture that would defeat the purpose that was still attract the insects as the chickens will come home to roost for a snack haha joke chickens will come to visit the fast food stops still deterrence 🤔
Increasing the feed to lessen the appetite plus destruction possibly will create a large stink for they will poop everywhere fat and happy tackling all day 😭

wow this seems ideal for my garden. we live on a ranch and let our chickens free range. it’s them kicking up pebbles near our garden path that P’s me off !!!! so this seems the perfect resolution. will show my dad cause there’s no way i can do this install on my own

@@mattsara2802 is this method with sprinkler still working good for you? Hubs wants me to have a solution for chicken poop on porch and hottub asap. Haha... (also it looks like those sprinklers take batteries. Do they last pretty long? )
Yes it worked good for us. It does take batteries but they lasted all summer for us. I’m sure I need to put new ones in the spring for the sprinkler. We are considering getting one more to put one in front of our squash patch so they don’t eat those too.

Interesting, will give this a try, also my hens take their sand bath up against the side of my house, so they've made all these big holes which are really ugly!
Yeah we had the same problem now we have 2 of them and it has been great until the kids want the hose for the slip and slide 😄

Have you had any problems with the unit leaking? I bought another kind and it leaks badly.
No not with this one
I'm confused about the detection settings. If you set it to 1, it won't go off on you? I need them off my deck, but I need to use the deck without getting soaked. Also my terrier uses the deck to get in and out of the house.
The numbers are the sensitive. We walk around it with out getting wet. 😃 but test it on a warm day just in case you get wet. 😉😃
This was super funny but I don’t have that big of a yard. I’d like them to stay off my patio AND out of my garage!
It could work in the same manor just remember you have it on for your own sake!
i just walked into the other room and told my husband about this idea lol. for us, where we are now, this idea could help keep bears and skunks away. :) where we're planning on moving -- northern WI -- i don't know what that will keep away. =D do you worry about them being out free range in the day? are there chicken hawks or other birds of prey that go after them?
We have lost some birds before but now that we have a rooster we haven’t lost on in awhile.

How do you keep the hose from exploding?
The water stops once it is full same way a hand held sprayer can be left on and not be in use.
@@mattsara2802 with a special backflow nozzle perhaps? We once burst a hose and flooded our basement but it probably had an old fashioned nozzle
Nope. Our pressure isn’t that high. Our well only starts when it calls for it.
I'm going to get one and try it because that's all they do is poop and I'm cleaning all the time and also they're scared to go back in there chicken shed Coop because we had that hurricane 2 years ago cat for but they made it got blown off but they was safe thank God but now they're scared to go back there so they just want to hang out in the front on the porch and sleep there
