"Don't overthink it; don't stress yourself out... let the system evolve and figure itself out with you." I will carry this with me everywhere I go, thank you.
It's an important reminder for all of us. I think we can get stuck on getting the right design dialed in before we start a project, and it's a real missed opportunity to just start and learn!
Love this statement hard! I've only got 6 hens and some quail but everyday I'm out there creating all kinds of pockets of fun for them... Some work, some don't...... So what
This is it! Books, Videos, Google, visiting farms... so much searching! This is the just chicken environment/system I've been looking for. And your ATTITUDE! The best! You're kind of the Mr. Rogers of the Chicken Neighborhood! It's a Beautiful Day! I want to be just like you when I grow up! (I'm 75 yrs. old. 🤣)
This & your reply to the man about being a chicken who flew in & hoped you didn't notice . . . . . That was a personal, warm wecome thrown to us all. I'm all in, nice to meet y'all❣ You're welcome on my porch, as well, with some great tea, made with pure, fresh water & a sprig of mint if you'd like. 💞👵 PS I shared your link in my group pages, on other platforms, thank you 💝
OMG. I love that you're even thinking about the little birds and chipmunks!! SO much yes! I ferment feed and also sprout grain but I'm working on making the system easier. This is great.
i spilled a bunch of chicken feed at some point when i was a kid and remember being upset for being wasteful and clumsy. A couple years later that spot was growing a 2ft tall, unthinned, super dense variety of plants that somehow survived despite total neglect. i like your reverse-tractor method of containing and rotating access to the plants rather than containing the birds.

Easy, nutritious and inexpensive -- win, win, win! I've soaked/fermented our feed for a long time but always thought the sprouting process too cumbersome....but I could definitely do this! THANK YOU!
Yes, this looks easy enough. And being in the ground, it won’t get mouldy like if fresh sprouts were left for a longer period. It’s also good for the soil in case the chickens don’t finish all of them. So all round a very good solution.
It can be a lot of work / complex, but can also be something you add just a little bit to an existing system. Definitely not an all or nothing kind of deal.
I grow commercial wheat and couldn’t understand why so many people struggle to sprout their wheat with all kinds of techniques but you just demystified it all. 👍 Nice work
After watching this video, I think I understand your system a lot better. I always wondered just how you went about getting the sprouts to work. I really like how you incorporate the wire or just branches to create micro sheltered space for some extended growth before allowing the chickens to access the greens! Also, you do indeed clarify and save a lot of work with the water changes and rinsing! Anything that gets the job done by saving work AND creates more food value is simply amazing. Love it.
It's really great when the girls come over where you're working since they know that the food is there. My girls like it when I toss a grub or worm to them as I dig holes for whatever task is being worked. Happy New Year y'all! 🇺🇸⚔🇬🇪
Yours was actually a better video that I had imagined it would be. Simple, effective, less work. Can't beat that. If only I could get seed in my area that cheap... but I'll use what I have.
Wow!! I loved this video!! I’ve been wanting to give our chickens more greens but have been dreading the long process of sprouting. You’re right, it doesn’t have to perfect and I don’t have to stay bogged down in the details. Thank you!!
I've only just found your channel & have found it incredibly informative; I now have plans to put a lot of things into action which I previously wouldn't have thought to do, so thank you!
LOVE this. young chickens arriving today. This is so much more my kind of animal care. I have some challenges but I am grateful to start with some alternative and healthier suggestions. Thank you.
Hi Lita- I also have '"challenges" and honor your courage and successes. I've modified and simplified my homestead so I can continue into my 70's. Chickens, fruit/nut trees, and wide-aisle or raised garden beds are helpful. Am wondering what you're learning?
I know this is an older video but Iove your smart approach to feeding chickens. I went all whole grains for my birds two years ago. Then I learned that sprouted grains increase 30% in protein so I added the sprouting. Now I will try this burying and hiding technique! And the birds are such a fan of finding treasure under a moved bucket!
Love the flexibility you give yourself to experiment and be creative with your feed approach. I’ve wondered if I could just “plant” my sprouted grains for the chickens. Glad to see it works! Ill be doing that from now on!
Thankful for this common sense approach, I ordered bags of whole wheat, oat and rye from amazon but was a little intimidated by the sprouting articles telling me to rinse and baby the sprouts. This will work out much better and I will start today!
Wonderful. So helpful. I really love this concept. Its shown me just what I was looking for. Flow, a natural, simple process to enjoying health happy chickens 🌻
Your thoughtfulness in the yard has created a chicken utopia and an edge with the sprouts is catchy...and the chicken conversations are exemplary...Thanks 🤔 😅😅
Great video we have our first set of ten baby chickens 🐔 looking forward to simple easy farming feeling nature and allowing nature to feed...✊🏾❤️❤️❤️✊🏾
I really appreciate the simplicity and ease of production you have created as your feeding system. Thank you. I just found you folks and love the way you think! I will seek out your site.
I know I’m late finding some of your vids🙁 but are very creative. I was raised with .. if you don’t ask you don’t learn. This holds true with trying things & see how it goes. Great video 👵🏻👩🌾❣️
Great info here, love your videos. I'm getting some really nice ideas both for the garden and the chickens -they really love having access to compost piles, can't wait to try the sprouts! Very inspiring and relaxing channel, keep it up, cheers from the other side of the Atlantic.
We just got our first small flock (5 hens) we'll be adding more hens as time goes on. I feel so compelled to do this Im starting today. I love all the ideas and tips.
Don't try in the state of Hawaii your flock will double every week they hatch a new brood every month if it wasn't fr feral cats and Mongoose we would be up to our armpits in wild chickens.
What a great idea. Good chicken feed is quite expensive, and our birds have not been laying over the last few months, apart from the odd one. It is our winter in NZ, but we were told that these chickens generally lay all year. They are so fussy when given greens like spinach or other kitchen veggie scraps, but they love the treat of sweet corn mixed with leftover rice.

Sounds like zen. Maybe he practice it. Probably.
Heck yeah!
That's why I don't get anything accomplished. I put it off because I overthink everything
This is it! Books, Videos, Google, visiting farms... so much searching! This is the just chicken environment/system I've been looking for. And your ATTITUDE! The best! SO excited to read this and sense that our experiments resonate with you!!!
Haha, 71 here, ....when I grow up, haha
Agreed!
I love how you add an escape board so nothing drowns in the bucket. That shows a level of thought and caring that is impressive! :)
That's all my wife Sasha there :)
This & your reply to the man about being a chicken who flew in & hoped you didn't notice . . . . . That was a personal, warm wecome thrown to us all.

It's a kind thought to begin with, and also very pragmatic. I'm pretty sure nobody wants a rotting critter corpse in their feed.
My meat bird chickens get moved to new pasture everyday at sunrise. I give them 3 hours to forage the pasture prior to feeding.
I love how you simplify any process. You make us believe we all can do it. Thank you.
I think everyone can do it!
OMG. I love that you're even thinking about the little birds and chipmunks!! SO much yes! I ferment feed and also sprout grain but I'm working on making the system easier. This is great.
And keeps rats from dying in the feed
Wisest words heard in a long time ." We are trying "

Works like a charm.
Absolutely love this. About to buy my first house and leaving tons from you. Grace and peace in Jesus name.

I loved hearing Sasha laugh in the background every once in a while. Makes it feel very organic. :)

The point is to do the best you can with what you have. I think you're doing that. And you gave me some ideas, too! Thank, Sean.
I adore how simple and easy this system is, you are simply working with nature for everyone’s benefit
It can be a lot of work / complex, but can also be something you add just a little bit to an existing system. Definitely not an all or nothing kind of deal.
This is by far the best way I have ever seen and heard.
Thanks 🙏
I grow commercial wheat and couldn’t understand why so many people struggle to sprout their wheat with all kinds of techniques but you just demystified it all. 👍 Nice work
Yet another genius example of simplicity making so much sense!
I’m so grateful I found this video! Thank you!
Exellent video , can just imagine the quality of those eggs
Variable but often quite lovely
Thank you so much, today was a hard day, but seeing your chickens always makes me smile. All the love from Brazil
"from Brazil"?? Prayers for you and all the people of Brazil and for the land itself.
🙏🙏🙏for you Blessings
Excellent example of ingenuity & utility. Love these kind of concepts.
This is SO much more practical than trays, watering, and gnats
It works well for us

Glad it resonates and makes sense to you! It is easy and worth doing I think!
Very impressed. So simplistically natural. I am an instant convert. Thank you for refocusing my ten years of natural farming.
So thrilled the ideas resonate with you!
Thanks, "love the no stress, see how it goes and adjust as needed methods" you share. Just what's needed in my little yard.
What a lovely calming demonstration, I love the organic way you do yours and not so stressed about watering it every day. Thank you for sharing.
"Don't stress yourself,
Don't think it out.
Just put them out
And they will sprout.".
Maybe a new children's song?

A neighbor of mine has chickens and I'd love to share this them!
Thank you for sharing a healthy resources! 😊👍
Awesome info! Thank you . I have wanted to do this but as you stated the info available can be confusing ! Kudos!
You are the exact type of person we are hoping to reach with this sort of content.
Soooo relaxing and happy feelings to watch your contented hens....
i like the way you simplified the process. no worries about watering or mold
Yours was actually a better video that I had imagined it would be. Simple, effective, less work. Can't beat that. If only I could get seed in my area that cheap... but I'll use what I have.
Best of luck to you! You may want to see if you can find any direct connections with farmers in your area.
Chicken scratch, cheaper than cheap and grows.

Certainly you can try this method as a place to start and see what it does for you.
You have such a soothing voice, and your no-fuss method of providing for chickens is almost a therapeutic away to wind down at the end of a long day.
Yay!
What a great video. I sprout seeds for my ladies as well. It's a great for them and a treat for me to watch them enjoy it. Blessings from Australia ❤️
This is so helpful and I love the simplicity of this!
I've only just found your channel & have found it incredibly informative; I now have plans to put a lot of things into action which I previously wouldn't have thought to do, so thank you!
You have taught us so much! I just love you both! Thank you for everything you do!
I am getting amazed to see that all this "obviousness" was actually possible... You give hope!
Just love your common sense!
Rare these days. Thank-you, I am learning!
I love your method. Much more natural and less wasteful.

Love the flexibility you give yourself to experiment and be creative with your feed approach. I’ve wondered if I could just “plant” my sprouted grains for the chickens. Glad to see it works! Ill be doing that from now on!
Definitely worth trying out at least on a small scale
Like that you are calming and kind 😊
Thanks I try

@@edibleacres That wouldn't ruffle my feathers.

So glad you found it useful!
Super helpful and encouraging. Thank you 🙏🏼
Very nice video and I wish so much I'd seen it before I made my tray system. Your way is soooo much less hassle.
I bet you get really great results, though... .So now there are two options you can use!
Awesome ❤️. I just sprouted some grains and its greens now in just a few days. I was wondering how to feed it and you helped me figure it out.
So glad
Zen master....namaste! Gracias! Love you, dude!!! Helpful video!

Glad it was helpful!
Very interesting. We haven't tried germinating our grain. We have just been moving our chicken into different areas. We'll have to give it a try.
Always look forward to chicken tv
