For some reason the only Blue Oyster Cult album that has clicked with me so far is Fire of unknown origin. I love that album all the way through. But everything else so far has been a song I like here and there but not complete albums. I'll revisit it from time to time and see how I grow with it though :)

It's also unusual where the isn't really any 'silence' between tracks, almost like a 35 minute piece of music. Just makes the experience better. My favourite Cult album, with Spectres close behind.
I’m surprised nobody mentioned Imaginos. I think it’s a masterpiece. I don’t care about the strange history of how it came to be. If this is just about the records and the quality, especially if you’re into the heavy side of the band, you have to give it up for Imaginos. I'm seeing B.O.C. in a few weeks in Boston, and looking forward to talking to longtime fans that know a LOT about their studio albums and have seen them numerous times. Nailed a lot about BOC there Pete in those opening few minutes, try & pigeon hole these guys, try & find another band that sounds anything like them over the whole discography, no chance ...
....not too hard to find is a 10" BOC-issued live bootleg EP (usually on clear blue vinyl) "In My Mouth or On The Ground"...supposedly recorded by the then-Soft White Underbelly at a pizza parlor. First appearance of Buck's Boogie.
Funny to hear Martin say the third first LP's are dated... how about Fire of unknown origin's synths sounds (not mentioning Revolution by night, Club Ninja and Imaginos sounds, sad 80's) ??? But I agree with him about Afterdark, I had a crazy rock n' roll dancing on it with one of the nicest girl I've ever met, 1981, Thibodeaux... lonely teardrops...!
“The Revolution By Night” has 2 of my favorite BOC songs (“Take Me Away” and “Shooting Shark”) but the rest of the album is subpar, IMO. That could’ve been a classic.
Mine are 1. Secret Treaties. 2. Blue Oyster Cult. 3. Tyranny And Mutation. 4. Heaven Forbid. 5. Agents Of Fortune. Spectres has been growing on me. Maybe There's hope for you Martin now that Mirrors is falling from #1. 7 Screaming Diz Busters is a great rocker.
Tyranny&Mutation loses points for shortening the title of I'm on the Lamb but I Ain't no Sheep -- from the previous, debut album! -- and renaming it The Red and the Black. I will always like Blue Oyster Cult's debut album better than Tyranny. When I listen to T&Mutation I begin to feel juvenile. Feeling young is one thing ... juvenile is another. Dude! How can you NOT STAND Two songs on an album and THAT's your second favorite of 14 Blue Oyster Cult albums? Cultosaurs in top 5 ...? Ok! and you explained why it should NOT be any higher. anyways Guitar Hack great job. Spectres is his #1. I entirely agree.

WHAT?? You just don't get it. You shouldn't be proud of that.
@@roydemarais i get it and i dont care
Nailed a lot about BOC there Pete in those opening few minutes, try & pigeon hole these guys, try & find another band that sounds anything like them over the whole discography, no chance ...
They are an acquired taste for sure. If looking for an album to review that you may not have heard, Colin James - Bad Habits.
My Top 5 BöC albums
1. Spectres 👻
2. Cultosaurus Erectus
3. Secret Treaties
4. Mirrors
5. Club Ninja 🥷
Good for you with Club Ninja. It's underrated to this day.
@russellgentile4719 Yeah! I have always love it 🥷
@Redrum1981 in your honor, I just put it on to listen while I go to bed.
It brings me right back to 1986 and when I first bought it. Awesome!
1. Tyranny & Mutation w extra tracks
2. OYFOOYK
3. Mirrors
4. Secret Treaties
5. Agents
6. Some Enchanted Evening

....not too hard to find is a 10" BOC-issued live bootleg EP (usually on clear blue vinyl) "In My Mouth or On The Ground"...supposedly recorded by the then-Soft White Underbelly at a pizza parlor. First appearance of Buck's Boogie.
Fire of Unknown Origin
Spectres
Cultosaurus Erectus
The Symbol Remains
Mirrors
Shadow of California is a great song.
Awesome show, Hack! And kudos for putting Heaven Forbid in your top five, such a great album…and Fireworks rules, LOVE that song. Cheers
It's very hard to rank the BOC albums, all of them deserves the #1, but for me could be Cultusaurios or Agents
Great show and topic and guests Mr Guitar Hack! Thank you!
Mine are 1. Secret Treaties. 2. Blue Oyster Cult. 3. Tyranny And Mutation. 4. Heaven Forbid. 5. Agents Of Fortune. Spectres has been growing on me. Songs like R U Ready 2 Rock & Golden Age Of Leather are better live. I've tried to like Mirrors since it came out but other than The Vigil, I Am The Storm & Great Sun Jester it's very weak & disco-poppish sounding. Maybe There's hope for you Martin now that Mirrors is falling from #1. 7 Screaming Diz Busters is a great rocker.
Have you guys done a top 5 Judas Priest?
Yes. Check the Album Rankings Playlist.
CULTOSAURUS ERECTUS Masterpiece
Cultosaurus Wrecks?
Made me laugh, Martin you are such a hoser eh? Max Webster yah 🇨🇦
Don't know why mirrors doesn't get the love?
Funny about BOC, the production on many of their albums isn’t really that great, it’s rather thin until “Fire of Unknown Origin”.
I really did think Martin may have gone for Club Ninja 😂
Club Ninja really isn't a terrible album. It holds up well for an 80's rock album.
Ok! and you explained why it should NOT be any higher.
anyways
Guitar Hack great job. Spectres is his #1. I entirely agree.
You’re not the one sounds like a Fountains of Wayne tune
BOC are the biggest nothing burgers in music but they have really good singles (3).
Top 40 is not always the goal. Nothing burger bands do not last 50 years, and their influence continues to this day.
