    I miss Craig. He had a true gift for interviewing guests and really getting interesting responses out of them like I've never seen before or since.

      +kiya12309 I know it didn't show much in the last few years because he kind of got old and bored, but Craig always reminded me of a young Letterman with his interviews.

      i always thought craig was savage. he really made it easy to detect the dicks among celebrities. those who came out well in the interviews are obviously wittier and have a better sense of humor.
      and some you wouldn't expect to be so vain, just looked pretty bad. i though even bill maher looked bad on the show.

    • @fe5018
      @fe5018 6 років тому +1

      ashitakaharuo he could get surprisingly good tv out of some seemingly mediocre celebs too. Sometimes your low expectation guests ended up being a pleasant surprise under his influence.

      You can tell that hosts like Seth stick to the script and carefully rehearse with pre-interviews, but Craig just talks to the guests which makes it so much better.

      +Frank Rivera Oh I so agree. I worked a swing shift, so whenever I worked second shift I always watched Craig. On day shift I would catch the show sometimes, it was kind of late so he would be the last thing I watched, if I made it all the way. Third shift, well I just couldn.t we were not allowed TV at work
      It;s not that James Cordon is bad, he;s not bad, but Craig was awesome, there;s a big difference between not bad and awesome :)

    Goddamnit it's blows so hard he got burnt out, because even on his bad days, he was fucking exceptional. All these guys that are left try so hard to be entertaining and fun and "up" now, but Craig just oozed charisma while being completely relaxzed and taking the piss out of it. It just sucks, you know, I really felt like I found my Johnny Carson or David Letterman, his show just appealed to me so much.

    Just stopped to watch this because of Craig Ferguson. I really miss him. He was the absolute best talk show host I've ever seen in late night, bar none. If you don't know his work on the Late Late Show, you should check him out here on YT. During the first few years of that show, Craig was phenomenal--funny, spontaneous, great storyteller, ability to interview anyone and make it fun when he was being silly or interesting when he was being serious. Tremendous blend of intelligence and incredible humor. Wish he'd come back to late night (without the robot though).

    Wow, Seth really has a lot to discuss. He's almost more insightful than funny, and I'm not trying to sound condescending, because I do find him funny when he wants to be. He doesn't make many jokes, but he always understands the other person's humor, or tries to. He reminds me of Jerry Seinfeld, who I find really intelligent.

    Craig used to have Kristen Bell on the show a fair bit, even when there was the mock "feud" she had with Geoff Peterson after being passed over for being Craig's sidekick. Towards the end, she appeared at the start of a show to have a fireside chat. She looked like she was going to go into labour any minute. I believe she actually gave birth a few days later. I recall that Eddie Izzard turned up on occasion as well. Drew Carey came on a bit, especially after he got the gig hosting "The Price is Right". It was interesting when he and Craig switched places on April Fools' Day once. There were so many great shows (despite Craig sometimes calling it crap), it would take forever for me to talk about them all here. That's how much I liked his show.

    The problem with Seth is you feel like most of what he says is carefully scripted and rehearsed, while Craig is the exact opposite and that is part of what makes him much better at interviewing.

    • @jamesmarhen
      @jamesmarhen 4 роки тому

      I also think what Craig did is really hard to do and Seth doesn't have the same protection Craig had. Craig has remarked how Letterman owned his time slot and basically made CBS leave Craig alone whereas Seth doesn't have that option. Plus improvising a show every night is really hard and really risky, networks don't want risk and while Seth is talented he's not quite as good as Craig improvising. Early Craig Ferguson shows were good but they weren't great because he was more scripted, which didn't play to his strengths.

    I find it rather bizarre and disturbing that Craig still doesn't understand how good he was, how amazing the show was because of him call Mom and how intensely missed and loved he is! He doesn't seem to get it and I don't understand how. He still is and probably always will be one of the most confident, witty, charismatic, and unique talk show host, night or day, that the world has ever seen! And he got even better, I didn't think it was possible, the last few years, the time frame he's saying here, that he thinks he overdid it. Couldn't be more opposite than the truth. It's just weird he is that detached from reality in regards to that gig

    These segments are super fun, I do wish the guest would ask more questions and not Seth. With Seth doing all the questioning it just seems like an extension of the interview. But really good anyway. #LNSM

    Help me a bit here. Corden substitutes CF, right? What about the others? Correct me on the following, Fallon => Leno? Meyers => Letterman? Conan still in the air? I'm not in US....

    • @TassieLorenzo
      @TassieLorenzo 8 років тому +2

      +creatip123 Meyers -> Fallon; Fallon -> Leno; Colbert -> Letterman; Corden -> Ferguson
      Conan is on cable. Good show mind you! :)

      TassieLorenzo Wait, Fallon off the air already? He's not the best, but definitely better than Leno :) But yeah, Meyers is better than Fallon imo.
      Thanx for the answer btw....

    • @TassieLorenzo
      @TassieLorenzo 8 років тому

      creatip123 No, Fallon is on air, he hosts the Tonight show. I meant Fallon replaced Leno, hence Fallon -> Leno. :) Leno retired --- finally!!
