Rodney Lacy, I am so so sorry for you! I am Brazilian, and I see many people of my age - I'm 26 right now, fighting with their parents and stop talking to them because of politicians. Literally NOT TALKING TO THEM. And I look at my folks and I see how special they are. I have Borderline disorder and problems with alcohol because of it, and my parents never left. Parents are indeed the most important thing in life. But it's the cyrcle of life, I hope you have a family, and one day you will pass out, like me, and we will be the olds here.. that's how nature is...

That hurt to watch. So real, so sad. When my mom died, it was hard, when my dad died a few years later, it was worse, because they were both gone, the end of a huge part of my life. Now my brother is gone as well, only my sister and I are left. Now that my wife and I are the parents, our grown sons are the center of our life, and we cherish our phone calls and visits with them. We are hoping to have grandkids soon. Love your wife, love your husband, love your children, your parents, your brothers and sisters. You won't have them forever.

Tom Snyder, Johnny Carson and Craig Ferguson were on a whole different level compared to everyone else.
Not just that YOU'VE ever seen. Simply EVER. Carson was great, but Craig took late night to a whole other level. His bizarre and joyous humour was unmatched as was his humanity. No other host has been the complete package like Craig.
Letterman was no fake either. I miss them both and I can't believe we are stuck with Jimmy Fallon.

Thirteen years ago I lost my wife in a car accident. Watching his show at night was the only thing that let me hold it together at the end of the day. He let me end the day with lightness and humor...something I thought I'd never have again.
My mom just died a few days ago. My dad no longer functions mentally or physically. I'm a only adopted child. Craig has done more good than perhaps he will ever know for strangers on the internet.
Only child here that also happens to be adopted. My grandparents just passed and I can’t imagine losing my parents. I feel for you man. So sorry for your loss.
I lost both my parents at the age 19 within 6 months of each other. It was so hard. It's been 10 years now and it's still so hard. I've gotten married and had a kid and it kills me to know my child will never know her grandparents on either my side or her dad's side of the family. I come to UA-cam for laughs most days

"and he's getting the news..." Tears started and my heart ached for Craig. Him showing his vulnerability here made me want to hug him. what an amazing man... even in his pain he goes to work to entertain us.
Craig Ferguson is just a beautiful human. It's impossible not to love him.
Craig is probably the most original and genuine host in late night. It's a shame he won't be hosting The Late Late Show any longer, I'm hoping he's going to a different network where he can continue to have hilarious moments and genuine heartfelt moments like this one. Ferguson will always be one of my favorite late night hosts because of ability to talk about his personal life without fear of public outlook or opinion. No late night host is as up front as Craig Ferguson, not Fallon, not Kimmell, not Letterman, hell not even O'Brien. Ferguson is the real deal.

I do not watch TV. I did not know Craig Ferguson. I came upon his clip about alcoholism recovery and then this eulogy of his mother. Mr. Ferguson, I am now a fan. A BIG fan. So much so that I will now break the trend and watch every single clip I can find from your show. Thank you for what you share.

The last line just broke my heart. Someone who is brilliant, talented, funny and actually know what he is doing but yet remain so humble, always criticising himself and says that he is the worst of everything. Craig, you're great.

I think what hit him the most wasn't the realisation that he had lost both parents, but that they were together again.
The man's reliving his memories of his mother right in front of everyone.
I didn't even try not to cry. Usually when I'm watching Craig's videos, I expect to see something funny, so after all the laughter he's given me I thought I have to watch this. I don't know if I thought that I owe it to him or something, but I felt like I have to watch this. He's been the only person in American late night who's not fake. No fake laughs, no scripted stuff, and when he felt sad, he didn't try to hide it. Thanks Craig for existing

Craig is the greatest late night show host, hands down. I can't stand the fake laughter of Fallon and Corden, and the rest have become too political. Thankfully we still have these YT clips to enjoy, but I really miss him.

The thing that sets his apart from the other hosts is his honesty. He says things from the heart and it makes you want to listen to him, through laughter and tears.
My mother passed in October 2020. I don't know how on Earth he could get up in front of a crowd and talk 3 days after, I know I could never have done it. kudos to his honest and bravery.
Mine passed in February, it never gets easier. All my love to you, my brother.

Craig has lifted me up with laughter so much in my life, and it absolutely killed me to see a moment where he was the one hurting.

That was really hard to watch but to his credit he handled it masterfully. Said what he needed to say and carried on.
I love him so much. There isn't a fake bone in his body. Late night television will NEVER be the same.
This is very strong, honest and beautiful. The euology of his mother, father and why he wouldn´t make fun of Britney Spears is TV-history and is why I respect and admire him. I hope Hollywood never changes him, because it needs a voice like him, that cares and dares to do things his own way.

And his accent just got thicker and thicker, and when he says, "I take comfort that wherever they are they are together again, and he can get the news .". he is on the Isle of Skye , nowhere near Los Angeles.

I love his comedy, but that monologue and last line endeared him to my heart. “Now he’s getting the news.” A beautiful thought that is making me cry. I love you, Craig!
You can see the pain of those last words etched upon his face. That takes a strong brave man to stand where he stood in front of thousands of people and deliver that speech. That was a truly heartbreaking moment. You can just see his heart fall to the floor and shatter. He is a humble person and one can only hope to learn from it.
Craig and Conan were and still are the best talk shows of the generation.

I am a man who has never wept at the words of any TV personality, let alone another man, until I saw this. Very moving. Thoroughly authentic. Ferguson is the genuine article. American television was lucky to have him.

Watching this, I just want to hug him. I lost my younger sis back in September 2005. Here it is 2023 and I still feel her loss to this day. He's not alone in his grief. It never really goes away, you just learn to live with it.
This and his father eulogy are by far the most beautiful words coming from a human being i ever heard.

if my terrible math is correct Craig is exactly 10 and 1 month to the day older than me, but my father was also born in 1933. he passed way back in 97 and he never understood the things i was into, but i still think about him surprisingly often and i always respected him and the crazy times he grew up through.

I agree...there's usually a lot of vulgarity and tasteless jokes in show-business, and by all means Craig resorts to such techniques on many occasions (let's be honest, this is what the world appeals to, it's what catches on)...but what sets him apart from every other talk-show host and maybe even comedians is his authenticity. Not once have I seen him appear fake or attempt something that's not in his nature. He's always true to himself and true to others, which is what probably gave him the confidence to perform this outstanding eulogy. This is not only about his relationship with his mother, this is about every mother-son or parent-child relationship, and I believe most of us found familiarity in his speech. Kudos to you, Craig!

Man did I tear up at the very end. I know I saw this back when it was broadcasted, it’s one of those rare monologues from Craig that isn’t irreverent & full of giddy humor etc. Actually I’m all the more surprised it hit so hard, but then again he was & is one of the most genuine of people I know of.
Craig is one of a kind. Hilariously funny and yet so humble. LOVE him.

This monologue is what really turned me on to Craig Ferguson's Show. Prior to this I would record various late night shows based upon the guests. I was so moved by this genuine sentiment I realized there was more to Ferguson than meets the eye & began watching his show for him, not the guests. His stream of consciousness ramblings are amazing and you never know where he'll wind up when he's on a roll. I viewed a comedy special of his that was very recent (Sept, 2015) and it was quite good

I wasn’t watching the video, just listening. That moment where he broke into silence at the end, I started to cry. I really felt the sadness and his realization that they’re not here anymore. Very real. 😭
To me, there is not a single talk show host that can hold a candle to Craig, particularly in terms of just how real, how personable, and how self-effacing he is.

Lost my mom 6 yrs ago...my father 15 yrs before that. Seeing this clip for the first time, i feel like im watchin myself on that stage. Its a strange experience knowing both your parents are gone. You grapple with reality for a long time afterwards.

I have never watched an episode of Craig Ferguson's late late night show when it aired - nothing against the show in particular, but I was never a huge fan of any of the late night programs. With that being said, his monologues have made me cry on four separate occasions, all by randomly stumbling across clips based on UA-cam recommendations. I wish I had taken the time to watch his show when it aired. What a genuine and funny man - he has an innate ability to just connect with people in real and meaningful ways.

We're only human. I felt his pain when he couldn't keep it together towards the end. I cried in other words. I don't know the man but it's sad when someone loses their parents.

For all his sociability and humour, CF seems like he's really tough where he needs to be. He's a recovering alcoholic, he's built himself a career, and he has the strength to eulogise his Mum and Dad face to the camera. He has my admiration and respect as well as my gratitude for his great show.

There's nothing more beautiful than watching those who are 'larger than life' reveal their humanity. It reminds us that we are truly all the same.
my favorite part of Craig is, and has always been, his sincerity. in a superficial world that we live in, where we edit our lives on social media to create this fake persona that we are "happy" or "satisfied" with our lives, I always appreciated that I could turn on Craig and find some genuine, unstaged humor and sincerity, no matter what was going on in Craig's personal life. It's awesome to hear about his childhood and some of the personal experiences that have shaped him into who he is today. I'm a believer in Jesus and I wanted to just say that I really pray that Craig will open his heart to Him and remember that "Jesus loves me, this I know; for the bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong, they are weak but He is strong."
