Really enjoyed your video. I live in Phoenix and now this was demolished it is now February 2020. I always wanted to go look at it when I was on my way to California.
I live in Arizona and I drove past this all the time when I travel to California and I've always wanted to explore it but I don't want to risk going to jail.
Same here. I moved to Phoenix in 1989 (still live here) and used to go to LA and back a lot. I'd always look at it wondering about it. This was well before the Internet where I can get any questions I have about anything instantly. So back then, it was really tempting to stop and explore, but it's SOO highly-visible that I thought there was no way I'd get away with it for long and didn't want criminal trespass charges.
It's crazy to think they already tour it down. They literally came in with massive bulldozers and took it down in a day and a half. I really hoped it would be revived
I used to explore that 20 years ago. It was a cool landmark in that part of the valley. Now its gone replaced by the same garbage malls and homes. The last bit of character in that town is gone, shame. Why cant they leave these land marks up for coolness. I drove by the other day and was sad to see just malls and homes.
Abandoned places spook me; they always remind me of horror movies. I'll just stick to watching your vids. Speaking of which, I'd love to see a vid tour of an abandoned hospital. Thanks!
+Olive Hue They can be so creepy, but that's part of what I love about them :) I explored some awesome abandoned hospitals recently and found some pretty shocking things inside. Stay tuned for the videos!
I went there a few times after it opened. I think that its biggest problem was its location coupled with the fact that trotting did not seem to be all that popular here.
i want to see an abandon hospital or mansion here in arizona i past this everyday i live in buckeye i know what this place is and why abandon my dad told me but always wonder what and how it looked like inside yes you have to get permission from the owner
Beautiful! I've been fascinated by this building since around 1985 when I started noticing it as my late father and I would drive past it on our way to Phoenix. Once, in 1990 I was 16 at the time, my father and I walked up to it and I took pictures of it. Of course we did not enter. At that time it still had all the glass, and looked surprisingly well and modern. When you have time I have some questions about this structure. I will use your footage as reference points. At 1:41 you can see the back side of the facade. Is this because all the interior walls have been knocked out? At 2:02 It looks like an escalator went all the way up to the grand stand? Also at 2:54 it looks like you are at the end of the promenade, where the rounded corners are. I assume that there was a wall between the promenade and back of the grandstand. There were possibly different doors to enter the grandstand at different sections? Again, thanks for your time, and kudos for getting in there!
+jewllake Thank you! It really is a fascinating building. To answer your questions: -It looked like the back side of the facade was always visible from where I was standing, even before the interior walls were removed. -An escalator ran through the middle of the structure on every floor (the grandstand is accessible from every floor). The escalators only led up. To go down, you had to use stairs or an elevator. -Yes, there is a wall between the promenade and the back of the grandstand. There used to be other rooms--probably bathrooms and ticket and vendor booths--between them too. There were many doors on every level through which to enter the grandstand.
My friend's office building overlooks it, I have heard you can still see blood on the walls. She chopped the bodies up into pieces and put them in suitcases! Crazy!!!
I remember that place! I used to live in LA and my grandparents in PHX so I would see it every time I drove though.
I never got to explore this place 😔😔😔
Unfortunately it was torn down in late 2017! Such a sad history. I do remember its use as a swap meet in the 90s
Really enjoyed your video. I live in Phoenix and now this was demolished it is now February 2020. I always wanted to go look at it when I was on my way to California.
Thank you! It was a really neat place to explore. It's a shame they never found another use for it.

The trotting park is in the process of being demolished as I write, 10/2017 after standing abandoned for nearly 50 years.

Thanks!!! Keep up the good work; subscribed!
Have you been to the Judd Murder house in phx.
Kris Mederios I haven't been there. I hadn't even heard the story before. Sounds gruesomely interesting.
Yes. There's apartments and it's smack in the middle a historical site. If you explore it let me know - I want to come!!!!!
My friend's office building overlooks it, I have heard you can still see blood on the walls. She chopped the bodies up into pieces and put them in suitcases! Crazy!!!
They destroyed that like 4 months ago
Future site of the Deathrace.
Is it hard to get too?
It's very easy. Just a long stretch of desert scrub terrain.
+Jimplict Is it legal though?
You will need to get permission from the owner.
