ತೆಲುಗು ಇತಿಹಾಸಕಾರರು ಇತಿಹಾಸ ತಿದ್ದುವ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ , ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಇತಿಹಾಸವನ್ನು ಕೃಷ್ಣದೇವರಾಯನನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮವನಾಗಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಸಾಕ್ಷ್ಯ ಆಧಾರವಿಲ್ಲದ ಕಟ್ಟು ಕಥೆಗಳನ್ನು ಶೃಸ್ಟಿಸುತಿದ್ದಾರೆ .
ಹಂಪಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ತೆಲುಗು ಶಾಸನಗಳಿಲ್ಲ , ಅಷ್ಟದಿಗಜ್ಜರೆನಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ತೆಲುಗು ಕವಿಗಳು ಇದ್ದದ್ದು ಎರಡನೇ ವೆಂಕಟಪತಿ ರಾಯನ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ 1605 AD , ಇವರಿಗೆ ಪೆನ್ನುಕೊಂಡದ ಅರವೀಡು ಅರಸ ವೆಂಕಟಪತಿರಾಯ ತಿಪ್ಪಲೂರು ಹಳ್ಳಿ ಕಡಪ ಆಂದ್ರಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ದಾನ ದತ್ತಿ ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ . ತೆನಾಲಿರಾಮ ಸಮಕಾಲೀನವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗಿ ರಾಜಗುರುಗಳಾದ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೀಕುಮಾರ ತಾತಾಚಾರ್ಯ ಇದದ್ದು ವೆಂಕಪಾಟಿ ರಾಯನ ಆಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ೧೬೦೩ - ೧೬೨೦ ಅದ್ . ಕೃಷ್ಣದೇವರಾಯ ೧೫೨೯ ರಲ್ಲೇ ಮರಣ ಹೊಂದುವನು . ಕನ್ನಡ ವಿದ್ವಾಂಸರ ವ್ಯಾಸ ತೀರ್ಥ ಪುರಂದರದಾಸರು ಹಂಪಿಯ ಕಮಾಲಾಪುರ ಗ್ರಾಮದಲ್ಲಿ ದಾನ ದತ್ತಿ ನೀಡಿರುವ ಶಾಸನಗಳು ಲಭ್ಯ . ತೆಲುಗರ ಕುರುಹು ಹಂಪಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ . ಕೃಷ್ಣದೇವರಾಯನ ಆಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ತೆಲುಗು ಅಷ್ಟದಿಗಜ್ಜರು ಇದ್ದರು ಎಂಬುದಕ್ಕೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಗಳಿಲ್ಲ ಎಲ್ಲ ಕಟ್ಟು ಕಥೆ .
ಹಂಪಿ ಹಾಳಾದದ್ದು ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮರಿಂದಲ್ಲ , ಅರವೀಡು ವಂಶಸ್ಥರಿಂದ . ಅಳಿಯ ರಾಮರಾಯ ಬಿಜಾಪುರ ಸುಲ್ತಾನರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮೈತ್ರಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ೧೫೪೫ ರಲ್ಲಿ ಹಂಪಿಗೆ ಮುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಿ , ಒಳಗಿದ್ದು ಮಸಲತ್ತು ನಡೆಸಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಅರಸ ಕೃಷ್ಣದೇವರಾಯನ ತಮ್ಮ ಅಚ್ಯುತದೇವರಾಯನನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲುತ್ತಾನೆ . ೧೫೪೫ ರಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಜಾಪುರ ಸುಲ್ತಾನರು ರಾಮರಾಯನಿಗೆ ಹಂಪಿಯ ಸಿಂಹಾಸನವೆರೆಯುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ . ೧೫೪೫ ರಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಜಾಪುರ ಸುಲ್ತಾನರು ಮತ್ತು ಅರವೀಡು ಸೈನಿಕರು ಹಂಪಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಜಯೋತ್ಸವವನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ . ಕೃಷ್ಣದೇವರಾಯನ ರಾಜಗುರು ವ್ಯಾಸ ತೀರ್ಥರನ್ನು ಪುರಂದರ ದಾಸರನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಆಡಳಿತವರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರನ್ನು ಗಡಿಪಾರು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ .
ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷಿಕ ಸಾಮಂತರು ಅಳಿಯ ರಾಮರಾಯನನ್ನು ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ೧೫೪೫ ರಲ್ಲೇ ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರರಾಗುತ್ತಾರೆ , ಮೈಸೂರ್ ವಡೆಯರ್ ಅರಸರಾದ ಹಿರಿಯ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ವುಜಯ ಚಾಮರಾಜೇಂದ್ರ ವಡೆಯರ್ ಅಳಿಯ ರಾಮರಾಯನೊಡನೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳನ್ನು ವಶಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ , ಕೆಂಪಾಏ ಗೌಡ ಮತ್ತು ಹಾಗಲವಾಡಿ ಪಾಳೇಗಾರರು ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರರಾಗಿ ತಮ್ಮದೇ ನಾಣ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಮುದ್ರಿಸಿ ಚಲಾವಣೆಗೆ ತರುತ್ತಾರೆ . ಅಳಿಯ ರಾಮರಾಯ ೧೫೫೦ರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಂಪರೆ ಗೌಡ ಮತ್ತು ತುಮಕೂರು ಚಿತ್ರದುರ್ಗ ಪಾಳೇಗಾರರನ್ನು ಯುದ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೋಲಿಸಿ ಪೆನ್ನುಕೊಂಡ ಸೆರೆಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂಧಿಸಿಡುತ್ತಾನೆ ..
ರಕ್ಕಸ ತಂಗಡಿ ಯುದ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಅರಸರು ಪಾಳೇಗಾರರು ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.. ಅರವೀಡು ಮತ್ತು ತೆಲುಗು ಸಾಮಂತರು ಸುಲಭವಾಗಿ ಬಿಜಾಪುರ ಸುಲ್ತಾನರವಿರುಧ ಸೋಲುತ್ತಾರೆ . ಮುಂದೆ ಹಂತ ಹಂತವಾಗಿ ಮೈಸೂರ್ ಅರಸರು ಅರವೀಡು ಅರಸರನ್ನು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಿಂದ ಹೊರದಬ್ಬುತ್ತಾರೆ ಪೆನ್ನುಕೊಂಡ ಮತ್ತು ಚಂದ್ರಗಿರಿವರೆಗೂ ಹೊದಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ .

On january 26, 1565, south indian history changed it's faultines for ever..The hindu empire of vijaynagara confronted the combined armies of the muslim deccan at the battelfield of Talikota and was decimated here..
After resolving all mutul differences through agreements between themselves, cemented by marriage alliances, the sultans assembled to do battel with the local kannada king Rama Raya on the banks of Krishna river..this grand allianve was the brainchild of Nizam shah of Ahmadnagar who nursed greatesy hatred of Rama raya,
After reaching the spot chosen to cross the river, the muslim armies turned about 4 kilometers upward in the westward direction..this was to confuse Raya..their is commotion in vijaynagar ranks as the deccanis are attacking their Left flank and Nizam shah himself takes the lead with Golconda troops attacking the center..Nizam shah had 100 cavalry with several khwaja armed with swords as his bodyguard..
Rama raya was all the while encouraging his men and attempted to help his brother Thimma Raya who was commanding the right flank fighting the adil shahi troops and was falling back..the circling movement is now completed with nizam and qutub shahi troops at the front and the Adil shahis at the back..the narrotar says that even at this depressing juncture, Rama Raya who was an old but an energetic man, into his 90's still exerted himself in encouraging his troops and that he has got expensive gold and jewels heaped infront of him and rewarded vijaynagar generals who distinguished themselves in the battel, on the spot.
This encouragement gave huge spirit to the raya's army and regrouping, they stood their lines and started advancing into the left and center deccani flanks..vijnagar army takes a lead now, nizam shah lost his temper seeing the smart move by Rama raya..at this moment and hitherto unheard man occurs who is going to shock the central south india-he was the man of moment and his name was Rumi Khan..rumi khan is not a nobel man or warrior but the hawaldar in Nizam shah artillery..
His name 'Rumi' suggest that he his from turk constantinople had century ago fallen to turks and it was named as Rome by muslims..
Rumi khan took charge of 3 great guns filled them with copper coins and gunpower, discharging them on vijaynagar army.this steady discharge took a huge toll of Raya's army and they started to fall back once again..at this point Rama rayas advisors tells him to sit on horse for quik escape in case if it is necessary but he denies them telling that the opponent deccans are his mere childrens and will finish the war in no time..Rumi khan is now mounting elephant with choice cavalry from back emerged from behind the lines of the artilley and dashed into vijaynagar center..
What was rama raya doing that time..? Well it saya that he was sitting on his palanquin..after dening the order of their generals he had also asked his men to get the head of nizam shah to him and chain adil shah and ibrahim qutub shah where he will hang them in public.. (how man proposes and how God disposes!!!).
Rumi khans elephant charged directly at the Raya after his bodyguard was overcome by deccani horse and Rama raya fell off his palanquin.. it says that elephant also wounded Rama raya too.. Rumi khan had no idea that the man lying aprawled on the ground was after his Akbar's contemporary in North, the Greatest of Indian kings - Raja Rama Raya.. and at that movement rama rayas generals fell on to his master shielding him frim the elephant shouting 'Maharaaaj" disclosing the identity of king, rumi khan without wasting time gets on the ground holds rama raya up ties him to elephant and takes him to his most hated opponent Nizam shah..their when nizam shah confronts his old nemesis Rama raya, he puts the hands on rama rayas shoulder and asked- 'Is every one all right.? ' Rama raya does not reply and points his hands on his head, relazing the horrible mistake..in the meantime news reaches the Njzam shahi camp that news of rama rayas capture had reached ibrahim Adil shah anf he was rushing to spot.. this put nizam shahi camp in dilemma because Adil shah was close to Rama raya who haf adopted him as his son some time ago..Adil shah visited vijaynagar the year before where he was honoured by Rama Raya and the Queen mother in front of all those assembled called him her dear son.. and bijapur and vijaynagar swore alliance with each other and promised to make war on their mutual enemies-the other deccani sultans.. of course this alliance was shortlived and we see them met eachother in talikota battel..
Returning back to nizam shah camp where Rama Raya stands bound before Nizam shah, his general protest to nizam shah that this was not the time of discourse and reminds him that Adil shah was near.. hearing this, Nizam shah ordered Rama raya to be beheaded on the sopt..A gruesome scene, but such was their hate.. rama raya's head was attached to a spear and taken for a stroll along the nizam shahi camp. The sight of the head was the signal to the raya's army that it is all over and they fled leaving bag and baggage accompanied by great slaughter...the brother inlaw tirumala rushes back to city with the few army and tell everyone to packup and leave..
After resting on the battelfield for 20 days, the muslim armies entered vijaynagara and subjected it to the sack, a state of ruins from which the greatest city of those time in india, even comparable to baghdad and delhi nevef returned.
