@@synistree Alot of people don't consider this.. but you can do more with a Fire Stick. Also You can do alot with a USB3 Bus Controller especially if you play around with 3 split USB to feed back into a safety block or a USB to USB A/B/C adapters.
There are cell phone apps that handle the ADS-B info and show aircraft tracking. ADS-B was made mandatory by the FAA. They passed the cost of aircraft tracking to private pilots. Yeah! Way to go. I think private pilots are only required to have an ADS-B transmitter so that everyone else can see them. Having the glass cockpit to see ADS-B traffic can be costly.
@@HACKPHILESVersion 3 is still available because a chip in version 4 is no longer produced and stocks of that chip should be used up within about a year, after which version 4 will no longer be available.
What sdr do you recommend for a newbie .. i haven't been able to get out but want to at least listen at home i have only an 891 and its packed away for travel & i dont get out of house anymore
I did and tried to install SDR++ from GitHub. Not sure if I download from GitHub correctly. Ended up with png files scattered through out my Documents Folder. I gave up and I'm gonna wait till Monday when Nooelec customer support opens up again. Thanks for your help.@@HamRadioCrashCourse

Been trying to find a single board computer that might work better than the Pi. You'll see it gets lagged down pretty quick

it seems like many good WEBSDR use special version of SDR-PLAY receiver. they seems to work very well, specially with antenna like TCI-530 AG6JU

A lot has changed since this was posted a year ago. The V.4 of the RTL-SDR dongle has a built-in up-converter now.
