Glen seems so nice and down-to-earth. The music he makes has always struck me as intelligent and thought-provoking. Hearing him speak, it isn't hard to see where that comes from. Also, he's still really cute!

Glen is very thoughtful, deep thinker. I have had the pleasure of meeting him twice. Glen is currently teaching Sing Circles in the Santa Barbara, California area to help and enlighten others through group singing. He's very a compassionate, loving and giving being. :)

Above all, I've always appreciated Glen's honesty. I am a Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ - but I'm not very good at "walking the walk" much of the time. Glen always has a spiritually sensitive undertone in his music. Even if I don't always see it as he does, I can readily identify with the thoughts, musings, struggles, conflicts, and heartache he may be conveying. How can you not love a person that raw and real?

Love. Love. Love. I wonder that he doesn't realize how many of us connected with his songwriting in the first place because it gave us that experience of singing in community - with HIM. He amazes ... Is already the deep social scholar (via lyrics) he hoped to be. I listen to when I need joy (throw it all away, winter pays for the summer) or to cry (fly from heaven, dunno why it makes me cry).

Glen is one hell of an artist. I have been a Toad fan for years and as a guitarist have always enjoyed learning Toad songs, honestly who can top Walk on the Ocean. Hint, I live in Lawrence Kansas, hint a concert by Glen or bringing Toad with him to Lawrence would be awesome. Last it seems Glen is a down to earth guy, I like that, I think it brings honesty to his music, song writing and what is amazing is the depth that even early Toad songs had.

Relatable commitment issues - tattoos, religion... it's wild that he doesn't believe in god when so many of his lyrics sound like a longing to reconnect / be connected to his creator.

    • @Selena.H.
      @Selena.H. 4 роки тому +1

He has tattoos now. Sure, "Fly from Heaven" is laden with religious connotations. I don't have the time stamp yet - (6:20) but Glen does offer his definition of God.
It can something as simple as one divine force or presence responsible for the creating the Universe and its inhabitants. Well that's my personal view anyways.
ALSO: Organized religion can be a detriment to the human condition.

Gosh, I’m so into Glen’s mind here. And everything else, but I really love how he’s so good at confidently articulating his thoughts - which have been given real care - while still being humble about them. This interview is fascinating, with so much to unpack, I wish it went on. Even better, I wish I could have a long conversation with him. He certainly would’ve been an *amazing* teacher. And he must’ve had amazing teachers, as well. My theater teachers were some of the most influential and supportive people in my life. In fact, Glen reminds me of my favorite teacher. He was like a brother to me. Ok, getting emotional . . . what a surprise. But in a good way. Thank you, Glen, always!

Awe, Glen, you are so talented and I strongly felt in my spirit when I was listening to your music that Jesus is calling you. Jesus is the way, He cares for you so very much Glen, and He wants to have a relationship with all who will trust Him. I knew for a reason that awesome song came to my heart today "All I want" I could feel a heavy void in my heart and in my spirit I felt to give you this message from Jesus Christ my friend. He is longing you to know Him. He will speak to you and show you His goodness if you call on Him with your heart.
    See John 3:16
I appreciate your beautiful music and voice. One thing I felt was God say.. share this message with Glen. ❤🕊🕊

Ive learned to be more independent and not count on other people nor do i take it personally if someone lets me down or doesn't come through for me. Ive messed up so much that i can't get mad at other people for their flaws. Realize that most of the suffering i have encountered is from my own doing and my own state of mind.

(7+ yrs late here .. better than never)
Have often used the Shaw quote > washed up Tennis (Teaching) Pro here who like most semi-pro's couldn't make enough from competitive play so found myself teaching > as long as One's ego is in check, the quote definitely resonates.
Wasn't aware Glen has Hebrew dna (of course not that it matters in any way) > simply further explanation as to why his narrative has always resonated > yet another incredible underrated Artist whose gifted with amazing talents.
Thanks Glen for being a significant part of the Soundtrack to my life 🙏

Some salient points in this interview.
09:34, it's about showing up every day.
09:55 reconsidering the pass/fail of religion.
10:34 on human suffering-- the "delusion" that we're important in some way.
    11:34 avoiding story-telling.

I've followed Toad since the early 90's and went to see them twice. But this interview could be a wikipedia definition in how disconnected the left coast is from reality. Glen , because of his talent and efforts have never had to endure the daily grind that millions of hard working folks across the globe do every day. They can't possibly understand the pressure of a business like a restaurant to put up with government regulations, pay all taxes keep folks on a pay roll etc This disconnect from reality where you wake up in this la la land, is the reason California and the left coast states are always broke, have higher crime, and folks wanting to move away. They demand the government to pay for their college degree in something that no one in society needs or wants to pay for. A degree in sacred music?? How much should that pay you Glen? But I agree with him about the tats. Never seen any doodle or saying that I want to see scribbled on my body forever.

Ok nonbelievers. Go to a accursed house, play with a ouija board. Then get a demonic attachment. Allah wont save you. Buddha wont save you. Vishnu wont save you. Only the name and power of the Lord Jesus Christ will. Yes, Christian's are highly hypocritical and because of their actions and absurdities I can see why there is anti christian sentiment. The Trinity is real! And when you do find Jesus and recieve the Holy Spirit you are really and truly interacting and hearing from God and there is nothing like it. (Some claim to hear but really dont and seen as crazy) He is truly a Living God and to have a relationship with Him is indescribable. Then and only then will you discover that His Word is truly Love because when you sin it separates you from Him. We were made to love Him as He loves us. How we take the food we eat, the people we have, the nature and beauty for granted. His love is so loud. What a wonderful relationship it is to have with Him. I hope all of you including Glenn can find Him or He find you.
