- Today we went with a group to do a hike at Shawka Dam, it is a hiking loop that goes around the mountains through a wadi.
A managed trail with some elevation gain in a loop around the Shawka dam with surprisingly diverse scenery. Possibility to shorten route as required.
A nice half day hike suitable for beginners and families in Wadi Shawka Dam Hiking loop ras al khaimah. There may be some interesting UAE wildlife and birds to spot along the way.
Lots of open stretches with some shaded rest stops along the way. Sun protection highly recommended, water mandatory.
If you like hiking this Wadi shawka hiking look ras al khaimah uae is a good one for you but dont go in the middle of the summer.

I didn’t like that area as much as the Fossil Rock hills because the land is just so sparse and desolate. At least with Fossil Rock there are, err, fossils in the rock to look at!
Yea it’s quite different from fossil rock. But once there is water flowing I will come back a do this one again, I guess it would be nicer with water.
@@pedrotravels it would be nicer with a flowing river down the wadi. Water makes such a difference.
