I had the poster of Wolverine with the hammerhead shark when I was a kid! I loved that poster. No idea what happened to it. That was a cool surprise seeing that in the backups. The funniest thing is the cigar underwater.
Really wish they had gone with white font instead of yellow for the Tex cover. All the other volumes have white font on my shelf. I guess I could get the Adam Kubert cover and still have my white font, albeit with red shadowing.
So reading order wise is this reasonably contained? I have vol 1 omni but wasn't that keen on vol 2 or 3 in favour of some other omnis around at the time. However, the stuff collected here looks awesome. Would it be weird to have vol 1 and vol4 but not 2 and 3?
An X-23 omnibus vol 2 would probably contain the Avengers Arena run as well as the Wolverines run. It might contain the Mariko Tamaki run, but since that takes place after All New Wolverine, probably not.
Mark my words: A future X-23 Omnibus Volume 2 will have Kyle & Yost's X-Force run. It is essentially an extension of their run on X-23 found in Omnibus Volume 1.
Chronologically, if they were going to put the X-Force stuff in then it should have been in X-23 volume 1 or at least part of the run should have been included. I think X-Force will be it’s own book or it will be combined somehow with the X-Men Messiah era stuff.
I dont think its difficult to touch up comic pages that where digital colored at all. if i look how sharp X-men 31 till 35 looked in the Wedding of Cyclops and Phoenix hardcover, they from the same era as those Wolverine issues. I believe that Wolverine epic came years after that book, so its hard to believe those issues look blurry because of the coloring
I do not own any omnibus from vol 1 - 3, can I still buy this and read it as a stand alone or enjoy it with the basic knowledge of Wolverine? Man that cover art is soo gorgeous !

Less of a fan of the art than I was when it was originally published. Might get it when it should the sale be significant enough. Volume 3 feels like my stopping point.
Omar - Could I just read the main wolverine series (1-75) vol 1-4 omnis and skip over all the other marvel presents, sabretooth series etc and not miss much Wolverine continuity?
I think there might be 3 more, after volume 5. So, 8 vols in total. The original Wolverine run goes up to issue 189, but I think these numbered Omnis will go up to 186. Issues 187-189 are by Daniel Way so those will probably go in a Wolverine by Daniel Way 2 vol omnibus set.
Loving this review. No Omnis this week though - is Marvel slipping a bit? A lot of the Sept previews are really DC heavy this month with some not even featuring any Marvel books. Come on Marvel keep the schedule ticking over!!

OLD MAN LOGAN by jeff lemire would be a great omnibus. No sign of one though! You could even include all the old man quill stuff and the wasteland stuff!
Marvel has become much more adept with their scanning techniques at replicating their holograms onto standard paper. I should also note that Essential Wolverine Vol. 4 kicked off with issue 70 and that was when Marvel straight up stopped their black & white line art reproductions and switched over to awful grayscale reprints with all the layers of color smooshed into one. I'm thinking it may be possible that there may be no original artwork out there to cull from, or if there is, it may be more cost prohibited to redo them than Marvel is willing to pursue.
This omnibus, like Vol.3, Is a major gap filler for me. Just like solo series tied to The New Warriors, I selfishly want to put he Maverick solo series from the 90's in this or Vol.5.
A pity they haven't included the 1994 Fleer Marvel Universe Series 5 Fatal Attractions "puzzle" among the extras. I feel really disappointed. Thanks again, Marvel. Hope they do it when they release the Fatal Attractions omnibus, which btw that's something they should have already done long time ago. Same goes for the X-men forever omnibus.

If this had more ongoing issues I would have bought it, but turns out vol 3 became my stopping point.
As good as Silvestri was those Hamma/Texeira issues are peak Wolverine IMO. The Sabretooth mini being a nice companion.
That gun at 14:25 is just ridiculous, the 90s were a hell of a time.

Haven't decided yet if I'll get this. Volumes 1 & 3 contain my favorite Wolverine stories. Maybe I'll wait to see if this goes on sale at some point.

Those issues you speak of were digital first so they had to be restored.

The 72-74 story could have been an inspiration for the Lorna Dane storyline in wolverine and the x men abinaged series. RIP

I would just strongly recommend reading MCP 1-10 since that sets up his status quo in the main Wolvie series.
