@@darkman4747 In this case yes, I have the 1st release Ripley and yeah the face sculpt is better but her skin tone is almost wooden, The tracker and the cat box are on par with hot toys
NECA's version of Jones the Cat figure looks way better than the Hot Toys version, despite the fact that the Hot Toys Ellen Ripley figure is way more expensive. Having said that, Ellen Ripley has a nice head sculpt that does a pretty good job of resembling actress Sigourney Weaver. I don't have a problem with the open mouth, but that's just my opinion. The hair has been sculpted really well. I also like the skin tone. The jumpsuit is nicely detailed all the way down to the zippers and wrinkles. The carrier, tracker and flamethrower have their share of details as well. This is a solid figure release on the part of NECA. With that aside, thanks as always Spot. I greatly appreciate the continued hard work. Keep it up!
Jonsie actually has a ball jointed head and a ball jointed tail, I had to boil and pop the tail out to get it moving. And Ripley's face is pretty great in person, it doesn't seem to photograph well, but after having the figure for a while now, I definitely appreciate what they went for on it.
NECA is stepping up their game and I like how they are starting to look more and more realistic. I would love for you to check out the halloween 2 retro cloth Michael Myers. It looks so good!
I like the articulation Neca implemented in Jonesy, as you can position the head even farther forward in the carrier, unlike the Hot Toys release which seemed awfully limited in order to successfully display him in said carrier.
@@youngpope3093 yes, and I am thanking him for saving me that effort. Imagine having to google it inches in centimeters every time you watch an action figure review.
Does the bottom of this package actually give thanks to Sigourney? I noticed the Compression Suit one I have for the 40th collection does not and it certainly doesn’t look like her. This one very much looks like her
Hmm not too sure, we did a version 2 Ripley a couple of years back that I did a review of if you wanted to check that out. I know they still have the Aliens license but the actual actors that I'm not too sure of, sorry I couldn't be a better help but yeah check out my more recent review of the version 2 Ripley and see which one you prefer more. Thanks for coming by and checking out the video, hey if you don't mind me asking, could you tell me if you're still able to see my newer videos showing up on your subscription feed? its been affecting a lot of viewers and just wanted to make sure you're not one of them, thanks again!
@@TheReviewSpot Thanks Spot! Yeah I saw your original review. The facial sculpts just look significantly different to me. I like the original more for sure.
i didn't a chance to get this because they never seemed to stock it at any of the local targets near me and now it seems like its run is over already? i wonder if this will get a restock at some point soon.....oh well.....i guess if i decide i need it bad enough i can still overpay for it online but damn....that was really a wham bam quickie on that release
Dude, I am starting to think that there is some Mandala effect shit going on here. So like, you, and two other toy reviewers are both like "I know i have the original but I couldn't find it, but I swear I had it" and I too, just went looking I know I have the original, I am sure of it....can't find it anywhere. Haha.
I don't know this one seems ok...I have the original 2 of them... something does seem off but the 1st one had issues too. Some actors actresses are hard to sculpt but there close enough...mark Hamill is another tough one to get just right...I always loveeeee the bill Paxton and Lance Hendrickson...those were satisfying to have.monsters are always easy to sculpt, people not so much.
@@hyperfire1134 Did you watch the Review? Spot thinks it's off. I watched the review by my friend Marlo the collector alond with Brett & Parker & it was like day & Night, especially Brett
The accessories alone make this a must have, That tracker is a stunning sculpt
So you buy a figure only for the accessories? xD

I picked this up at Target a few weeks ago. Looks really cool on display with the Ultimate Big Chap Alien.
I prefer the face sculpt from the original release of this figure. But I'm glad they're re-issuing older figures for people who missed out before
I actually really like the head sculpt on this. Thanks for the review!

I like this figure more then the hot toys one. There I said it, I am a NECA fan boy! This has great small details and good looking accessories.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks. I needed cheering up today

@@hyperfire1134 yeah this figure is much more affordable.
@@hyperfire1134 so because it is cheaper it is better? I have a kubrick figure of Ripley that is cheaper & probably better looking face wise
Awesome review, Spot!
I have this figure too and I think its superb. But I do believe that the face sculpt could have been better.
Where do I purchase this fine product?
Just passing by to thank you for translating inches in centimeters. That's really helpful for people like me that lives in Brasil.

Jonsie looks better here compared to Hot Toys LOL
Hey review spot love your videos i am starting collector and have a question for you which Ripley from neca would you say is the definitive Ripley ?
Did they lose the likeness to Ripley? Jonesy was the only other survivor of the Nostromo...
I payed a pretty penny for this piece.

Did you pickup any of the other members of the Nostromo Crew?
@@TheReviewSpot Not yet, just the deluxe "big chap" Xeno and the Giger xeno.

Only available as a target exclusive.
The original release did not come with a tracker or cat transporter.
Whatever company they use in China to produce this messed this head sculpt up. The prototype was perfect.
Hard find figure, been trying to find this figure in my area.
This is fantastic. I just don’t know why it’s so expensive!!

Man that's gonna cost me arround R$400 in here. Fuck.
Oh boy! That headsculpt is bad. I think it's the eyes, not necessarily the mouth, that's off. Although the mouth needs work too.
Let's be honest: the sculpt on this is awful. The original was better.
The rest of the figures in this line put this to shame
I agree

They've never really nailed Ripley. I think the Alien 3 Ripley had the most accurate likeness.
